Today is the 60th anniversary of the formation of the 10th Regiment of the Communist Party of Malaya. The regiment 10th was led by Abdullah CD (photo: right), who was also the chairperson of the CPM back then. Most of the soldiers in the regiment comprise of Malay/Muslims, from Malaya and Southern Thailand. They took up arms to resist the British Colonial masters at that point of time, when the country was fighting for its independence.
Many of them are still alive, and live humble lives. They still think and long for their families in Malaysia. But life goes on…
Lets not forget a part of our history, no matter how small people’s contributions are. And their contributions are not that small, compared to the new colonial masters we have – UMNO.

Its not a well known movie, but was still available for rent on VHS from shops which specialise in Old Movies.

100% agree with you. CPM influence established as early as in the early 1920s in Malaya to fight the British. Where was UMNO, MCA and MIC then? UMNO was lazily sleeping in the orchard waiting for the durian to fall. MCA probably mining for the British war effort in Europe. MIC? Probably also in the estate and also assisting British war effort. Additional to that UMNO also probably was licking some royal balls.

He was held in high regard by the British and other members of Force 136 for his patriotism, leadership and organisational abilities.
After receiving training from the British in India, the men of Force 136 were inserted into Malaya via submarine in batches. Appointed leader of the Malayan Chinese section, he personally arrived in Malaya in November 1943 to co-ordinate the efforts.
He was one of the five signatories in the Bukit Bidor Agreement signed on 1st Jan 1944 where the British and the Malayan Communist Party agreed to work together and support each other against the Japanese.

Some 1,300 internees were located by the teams in a camp near Kachau in Selangor; wireless contact was immediately made with headquarters advising the number and location of this group. Since nothing further could be done in Kuala Lumpur, Davis and Broadhurst set out for Morib Beach for Operation Zipper.
At the time the British Army invaded on the 9 September, the guerillas were being used to prevent looting and lynchings and their health was improving with food supplies, transport, and quarters provided by the Japanese. Although General MacArthur had accepted the Japanese surrender on the 2 September in Tokyo Bay, British troops did not reach Kuala Lumpur until 13 September, the day following Mountbatten`s acceptance of the Japanese surrender of all troops in SEAC theatre at Singapore.

“GustavusIV” Chen Ping one of the AJA members took Davis and Broome to the Perak hills to be nearer the Chinese guerrillas. It was noted that SOE at that time distrusted any Malay, as they were more likely to inform the Japanese of any SOE agents.
On the 25th December 1943 Davis Broom met up with Spencer Chapman on of the only survivors to stay in Malaya after the Japanese took over.

Actually, MIC started on the right footing (which was the left). It was one of the All-Malaya Council of Joint Action, formed in 1946 to fight for independence when UMNO was merely “Hidup Melayu”-ing (and still is, today…evolution takes a longer time for some apes).

He trained by MPAJA which turned up back to Parti komunis Malaya ( PKM ) and then establishes the malay guerrilla army that fight the british at temerloh pahang and then called 10’th rejiment on 1948. Beside his compasion to attract the local peoples to join him in the jungle, he also encourage the people to fight for the indipendent through UMNO which that time, change their tagline from ‘hidup melayu’ to ‘Merdeka’. Can you see people, whole tanah melayu people fight for the indipendent, although with different perspectives and method. BUT then i think again, why comunist.. why?

The Brits never “liberated” m`sia. They just came in their farking boats AFTER the surrender. There was no fighting. When they came in the MPAJA was maintaining law and order in the country. The only ones they went after was the “collaborators”…the Japanese soldiers were not ill treated and were confined to barracks.
