seri_perdanaHey Malaysians, this is where all your heart/hard earned tax money go to!!! What do they mean by “the government pays” ? Where do they get the money from???

(from Malaysiakini)

In a written parliamentary reply to DAP MP Liew Chin Tong, Abdullah had revealed that the government forks out RM6 million a year for rental and maintenance works for his official residence, Seri Perdana.

According to the reply, RM4,149,000 is paid as rental to Putrajaya Holdings – the master developer of the federal administrative capital – while the remaining RM1,896,616 is for maintenance works.

The government also pays RM3.4 million (RM2,273,888 for rental and RM1,129,992 for maintenance) for Seri Setia, the deputy premier’s official residence.

In total, this works out to about RM26,000 per day for both residences.

Total wastage! Total corruption! and total disrespect for the rakyat’s hard earned money!

Aiyah, how to be a developed country by 2020,

With the daily rental of RM26,000/- paid for
both residences it is peanut compared to the
commission paid for the 2 submarines and 18
sukhoi fighter planes. In the first place,
is Malaysia at war with the neighbouring
Asean countries to spend that amount of money
which can be used to build more schools, hospitals,
roads etc..the rot can only stop when a new govt.
is in placed like other democratic country eg.

MIND YOU HAVING TO PAY RENTAL AND MAINTENANCE AT A WHOOPING RM26 MILLION A YEAR FOR THE 2 PALACES IS BEYOND ME. DO YOU KNOW THAT MANY MALAYSIANS AFTER RETIREMENT DO NOT EVEN HAVE RM200 THOUSAND. AND HERE YOU HAVE THESE 2 GUYS SPENDING RM26 MILLION OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON JUST THEIR RESIDENCES. I AM SURE THEY WILL HAVE DRIVERS FOR THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN, GARDENERS, COOKS AND WHATEVER. SOMEBODY HAVE TO PAY THOSE PEOPLE SALARY. DONT TELL ME FROM OUR TAX MONEY. NO WONDER THERE IS CORRUPTION IN UMNO ELECTION. NO WONDER THE MALAY POLITICIAN USES MONEY LIKE WATER DURING UMNO ELECTION. THE KEY WORD IS TO WIN THE ELECTION AND THINGS WILL NATURALLY FALL IN PLACE. IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHO NEGIOTIATED THE RATE OF RENTAL AND MAINTENANCE WITH PUTRAJAYA HOLDINGS. HAH! YOU KNOW AND I KNOW. THE OPPOSITION, ESPECIALLY PKR AND PAS MUST DO THEIR UTMOST TO OPEN THE EYES AND EARS OF THE RURAL MALAYS. THEY HAVE TO USE WHATEVER MEANS AT THEIR DISPOSAL TO KEEP THE RURAL MALAYS WELL INFORMED OF UMNO EVILS. ONLY THEN, CAN THEY EXPECT TO RECEIVE GENUINE SUPPORT FROM THE RURAL MALAYS. IF THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL TO UNDERTAKE THIS IMPORTANT TASK, THEN WE CAN SAY GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDENCE TO UMNO IN THE 13TH GENERAL ELECTION

WHO DOES Putrajaya holdings belong to… it is a front for UMNO, these are the way umno gets rich by robbing the malaysian people. SO THE PM IS from umno, he lives in a palace built with govt funds, which is than rented out to him, its a win win scenario which ever way you look at it, it is a front to swindle from the malaysian people to line the pockets of umno.

  34. tun perak says:

Think very carefully, the govt funded the putrajaya build through loans to putrajaya holdings, why lend money to somebody to build you a house which you will gurantee rent back from him, now think very carefully about what I have just written, does it make any sense, it is the same with all the privatisation projects, UMNO CONTROLS ALL THE ASSETS through proxies. This is mahathir legacy of making sure UMNO coffers never run dry.

  35. setia says:

Its scandalous and what a huge waste of taxpayers hard earned money.
Why such a grand palace like a King ….look at the PM of England home and most European Countries …humble and cosy -easy to maintain and when their PM travel they dont show off like our PM with convoy of 10 cars and 8 outriders but only 2 outriders and 1 Car following.
Clearly Umno have Grand vision of themselves….look at how simple and humble PAS Leader Nik Aziz lives …..RREFORMASI !!!

Democracy means….we deserve the government we get.
But in Malaysia…it is not a democratic election.
    It’s call.. guided democracy..by UMNO…guiding Muslims to vote for them…as their savior…their Lords..their defenders.
Will it work on 13th election?
RPK said…if we want to get rid of corruptions and ISA…we have to get rid of UMNO.

Thick wall to wall carpet ,chandeliers in each guest hall, wrought iron with polished brass railings at all staircases. I had commented before in Susan’s blog, if someone to get a contract to change all the lightbulbs ,he will become very very rich.
All those fees to maintain the ‘palace’ are hiked price ah ???

  39. That was one of the reasons why racist Indian Mahathir hung on to be the P.M. and live like a King for so long ? Because he cannot ‘become’ the King like the way he can become a Malay.
He built this for himself and AAB wants to enjoy it as long as he can and his DPM is willing to do anything (anything, I am sure everybody understands what that means) to have the right to stay in it.
It is racist pariah Indian Mahathir who should be be responsible and answerable !!!

  40. Lisa says:

Don’t understand why the PM has to rent a house from the Putrajaya Corp. Afterall, isn’t Putrajaya the administrative capital?? Surely when Dr M decided to build Putrajaya and to move the PM’s office out there, he thought about the Federal Government BUYING the land to build a house as the PM’s official residence??

Now I’m wondering what clever story Dr M going to tell to rationalise the blatant corruption which is why the PM’s official residence is rented and at such exhorbitant cost.

Then, what explanation Pak Lah is going to give as to why he allowed this wasteful spending to continue when he came into office? He vowed to stamp out corruption but he lives unperturbed in the midst of it.

  41. Moo.. says:

Since the rental paid is benefit in kind according to the tax man, the prime minister should be paying the RM6,000,000.00 x 26% = RM15.6 million in tax.

According to the tax act, only the sultan and king are exempted from tax.

Looks like the PM and DPM is evading tax.

It’s his choice to stay in kampung house. but, our urban “kings” never, never, never “earned” it, so live according to your skills and means that commensurate with your “qualifications”! And those sons of cows who suck up to umno, like Samyvolu lives in a palace himself in Jalan Ipoh..! We have con artistes for leaders.. PM Imam Hadhari konon!

Duh! PM & DPM’s residence are only a certain fraction of Putra Jaya, and it already cost More than RM4m a year. Now include all the Ministry Buildings and government quaters that I supposed are rented too? (can someone dig into this too?). I believe thi will run into 100’s of millions of the people’s $$$$.
Also, let’s dig into to find out who are the owners of Putra Jaya Holdings, I can imagine UMNO being the major share holders, and some other nominy companies owned by the cronies and people in power.
And let’s not forget, this is TDM’s project, Works Minister during that time is none other than Semi Value and DPM was DSAI. Thus the concessions to PJ Holdings could have been allocated during their times. Can someone investigate into this and make it public? But becareful of OSA…..

Anyone cares to look at the persons who own prime cuts of land and mansions within the Sepang/Nilai districts by the one particular sneaky developer? If that is not ‘graft’, then Seri Perdana doen’t exists. Honesty, integrity and transparency never existed, nor it ever will in boleh-liwat-land!

The question here is whether the PM have weight the cost of owning vs the cost of leasing (25-year contract) the official residence before signing on the dotted lines.

    Cost of rental = 25 year x RM 4,149,000
    = RM 108.53m

It is definitely cheaper to own the property if the lease contract is for 25 years.

So next question is who benefit from the 25-year lease contract ?

In Malaysia the Agong stay in a house previously owned by a Chinese Towkey. Dr M want a palace form himselve that can match the sultan of Brunei.

  86. Lisa says:

    To TheWrathOfGrapes:

The Singapore PM does not have an official residence. They live in whatever house they lived in before they came into office. They continue to live in that house once they leave office.

Cabinet Ministers in Singapore are the equivalent of very senior management in the private sector and are expected to perform accordingly. They are paid a salary that reflects that. Singapore cabinet ministers are all university graduates (many of them have postgraduate degrees) in RECOGNISED subjects.

The Singapore PM and DPM don’t need official residences because they worked hard in their jobs before coming into office. They have been paid salaries comensurate with their abilities and so able to buy their own homes rather than be a burden to the state to rent a house for them.

In Malaysia, what looks like a cheap bargain ends up being a burden because not only does it not work properly, it requires a lot of costly maintenance.

  87. While all this is going on the leaders are not considering the fear factor. Not the fear factor of foreign investors but of the average person in Malaysia.Too many of us know of people who are working two jobs to make ends meet. And here we are spending taxpayer’s money to live in luxury.Too many of us are also having grave concerns over our leaders both in the government and corporate sector because many a time we have not been told the truth.Too many of us suffer from the fear of speaking – up and have developed the ability to say onething and do another.Too many of us fear that the Malaysian way of life that we all love is being tossed away for the good of a certain group of people who have more money and clout than we do.

So blame Lim Kit Siang, Nik Aziz, Lim Liong Sik, Lim Keng Aid for all the help they offered to Mahathir The Mamak King in plundering big time of Bodohland.

If the elected PR don’t lead the role in confiscating the looted assets by their fellow avaricious and ignominious BN politicians starting from Mamakthir s/o Kutty, Bodohlah, Ling Liong Sick, Lim Keng Aid, Raapidah, Semi Value…. but joining in the profligate party, it’s time for the Bodoh folks electing some other smart Bodoh folks replacing the useless PR elected folks.

  110. Maris says:

I hope the powerul people in the world who have the capacity and ability to make things better for people in general will be more socially-concerned and sensitive.

Even if it’s a fact that life is not fair, there will always be rich people and poort people, I think those who are more privileged should at least pay it forward and give back to the society that nourishes them–that way life will be made fair, even in small doses.
