UPDATE: A Press Statement by SUARAM.

“We have been informed by our distributor that ten (10) copies of Suaram’s latest publication titled, “May 13: Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riot of 1969″
by Dr. Kua Kia Soong, were taken from MPH Midvalley yesterday afternoon by officers from the Ministry of Internal Security.

The reason given by these officers led by Ahmad Faisal Arshad was that the book had contravened the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984. We were further informed that these officers had advised the bookshop not to sell or display the book.

It must stressed that there are no orders coming from the Ministry of Internal Security pertaining to this book. Further, the book contravenes no part of the said Act. We consider the actions of Ahmad Faisal Arshad and his team to be arbitrary and illegal.

SUARAM views the seizure of those ten (10) books as illegal, and demands that KDN pays for the ten books or return these books to the bookshop within 7 days; failing which, we will instruct our legal counsels to take action”.

John Liu, Coordinator, SUARAM.

Earlier this morning, I had said: Yes, believe me.  It’s Dr Kua Kia Soong’s book on May 13. By confiscating the controversial book, by threatening the author and showing indication they might ban the book, they are actually helping to speed up sales. Everyone’s saying: get that book fast before it gets banned. Thank you, for the cheap publicity stunt, and for the advertisement.

Malaysiakini has the story here:

Ministry seizes controversial May 13 book
May 15, 07 8:56pm
The Internal Security Ministry confiscated 10 copies a controversial book with new claims on the May 13 racial riots from a major bookstore in the Midvalley shopping centre today.According to the publishers of ‘May 13: Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969′, a team of ministry officers visited the MPH bookstore this afternoon. The officers advised the popular bookstore not to sell the book as it may be banned.According to a letter issued by the ministry officers to the bookstore, the books were confiscated from the shelves for suspicion of being an “undesirable publication” based on Section 7 of the Printing Press and Publications Act 1984.

The act empowers the minister to ban any publication which is “prejudicial to or likely to be prejudicial to public order, morality, security, the relationship with any foreign country or government, or which is likely to alarm public opinion”.

The book is penned by academic Dr Kua Kia Soong as a result of a three-month research at the Public Records Office in London to study records and declassified documents on the May 13, 1969 communal riots.

Based on official correspondences and intelligence reports by British officers, Kua argued that the riots were not random acts of communal violence but a coup d’etat attempt by a faction within Umno.

He asserts that the coup attempt against then premier Tunku Abdul Rahman was also backed by the police and army with the intention of forging a new Malay agenda.

Kua said official records show was evidence that portrayal of the event in history books were heavily distorted, which blamed the riots on opposition parties “infiltrated by communist insurgents”.

Senators want book banned

Official figures said the May 13 riots claimed 196 lives, 180 were wounded by firearms and 259 by other weapons, 9,143 persons were arrested out of whom 5,561 were charged in court, 6,000 persons rendered homeless, at least 211 vehicles and 753 buildings were destroyed or damaged.

Following this, Malaysian government embarked on an affirmative action policy, the New Economic Policy, to uplift the economic standards of the Malays, which objectives have been kept in place up to today.

Yesterday in the Dewan Negara, three senators have called for the book to be banned.

In response, Deputy Internal Security Minister Fu Ah Kiow today said that the ministry would study the contents of the book and take action soon, according to the evening edition of China Press today.

    Hi Susan,

This is BIG news. In fact I wrote to Elizabeth Wong on Sunday 13th May and you also that I want to buy this book at somewhere at JB as here Spore unable to obtain it. I did mention in my comments who were behind the May 13 riots and that they are still very active in politics.

I expect them to ban and even arrest the Author, Dr Kua, More to follow,

I’m a fan of you Susan but why are you all look like you all want the May13 incident to happen again?? you all like it is it? you are away there in bangkok, so you dont have to worry about the riots that could happen here. Your aim is getting out of way already. What do you all want?? I want a peaceful country! i am peaceful! stop talking bout the may13 thing! nah i know you will not allow this to be posted. But its for you Susan. Youre great but sometimes you dont know what you want to do exactly

  3. susan loone says:

    Dear Happy Malaysian,

Nice to have a fan like you who care to be honest with me 🙂

I do know what I want. Always had and always will. However far or near I am, I care about what happens back home. Remember, I have loved ones in Malaysia, so try not to be doubtful about my feelings or loyalty to my country.

About the book, if we are matured enough, why would we allow a book or whatever information therein to make us cause a riot? Riots are caused by prejudice, violent tendencies and disrespect for other beings, communities, etc. Or else, no amount of incitement could move us to cause hurt to someone else.

As for not posting this, why should i censor you? I don’t even censor the most controversial pieces. Your comment is such a mild one.

Until the truth is really out people will continue to talk. Hey did you ever ask the Govt to stop bringing up the issue of May 13 whenever elections come? It is they who can’t seem to forget, wei. Not me, or us.

So, lets hear what others have to say about this, shall we?

  4. Philip Lau says:

    Hi Susan,

It spreads to Singapore also. I can remember the incidents very well. Personally, I met those TOP people who were behind May 13th whose children are very active in politics. I do not know them personally. I feel one of then very obvious will take control in matter of time. History may repeats itself.

Here in Singapore I believe we are well prepared. I believe many of us inspite of what the Americans are doing in othe Middle East and other parts of the world, we like the Americans to be here, and they are here in Singapore in a small scale to observe what is going on in this part of the world. I believe China, also wants America to be active here.

Susan, I can assure we from the little red dot below you, many of us will like you to expose nothing but the whole truth. Personally, here, I believe we know what is happening up there, but we do not have as much as information as you have. Please continue to do so. Please note whatever the case truth in the end will prevail.

Tunku was a very good and honest man, but not as cunning as those below him. He did his best in the circumstances. More to follow as this is a important subject. What I said two days ago took place now.

    Dearest Susan,

In my humble opinion (even without anyone asking, me so kephochi!), history must be told in its entirety. True accounts of what happens must be narrated accurately.

Banning anything, again in my point of view, serves no purposes. Public would be more interested and will start looking for the banned items elsewhere.

The intergrity of a country derives from its history. Good day Susan.

  6. wits0 says:

The fact that Malaysia has become Bodohland and Bangsatland has much to do with its self-agended racist leadership without accountability and its people inability to come to terms with this Reality and vote for accountability and truth.

Face the facts and come to terms with it or else drift along in ignominy and the officially promoted feel good false pride largely directed at the majority. It’s late in the day.

  7. OneAHappyMalaysian says:

Im very sorry Susan, i dont know much about the incident nor the book. What i feel is, i feel threatened by this issues. Coming from both sides, i seriously dont know anything. Just afraid these things will lead to something really big and bad. Thats all. I read your blog everyday, i even have it as my live bookmark.trying to find what is really happening, and i cant seem to understand.
I just want everyone to be a Happy Malaysian like me,well i used to. I can ignore all this, but as i go through everyday, there is something in me telling me i need to know the truth before anything happens.
Is not that i dont believe you guys, i dont believe both sides. I dont know who to, and i wish i can do something. Its so obvious malaysia is heading to destruction. My bad for not knowing what has been happening and what had happened. I hate the government now and i dont even know i should hate it.
Im very sorry to say such things to you. Sorry again.
    Once a Happy Malaysian.

    Hi Susan,

Any way to get this distributed in softcopy? That will bring in piracy. We the new generation need to know what happened on May 13. Some 30 year olds have never heard about it.

I love Malaysia, and I can accept its dark secrets. And I also believe a book like this will not spark riot and hatred (maybe a little) but this is one bitter part of history that should not be erased forever.

They might even ban Amir Muhammad’s next attempt on his movie, my guess.

Let the story be told, without bad intentions.

What’s so undesirable about the facts and truth in history? Only the dishonest and self-agended governance will say that, and putting that all encompassing “sensitivities” as an argument against learning from history but at the same time blaming all others as long as it exclude and absolves themselves.

Living a lie makes for stupidity, for one. Why is M’sia losing its competitive edge?

  10. anony says:

Yes… make the book available online… i dont mind paying for it.

  11. susan loone says:

    One happy Malaysian,
    Nothing to be sorry about.
Dont feel so sad lah. Don’t feel so bad. i understand how you feel and what you mean. Fear is what the authorities want us to feel, so we don’t question, and we live a lie.

Many feel as you do, for example, not believing both sides. So, the best to do, is hear both sides, then move on. But up till now, we haven’t really heard from all sides of the story, and that is why people still keep talking and asking about it. Yet truth will somehow find its way out. Nothing can stop this.

As for Philip Mak, I am sure Dr Kua being a veteran and expert, will start his own blog, if he doesnt have on already, and put his book up on the net. I know I would do that!

  18. monsterball says:

The government is ALWAYS afraid of any truths out wit h the excuse..it is sensitive issue…sensitive to who?…what?….why?
Sure sensitive to alot of young malaysian citizens that are not aware of the real truths….and after reading it….many may question their lecturers and teachers in schools for clarification….which make these people…bunch of hypocritical teachers feel embarrassed to answer or give more ridiculous explanations…a lie to cover another lie….so very common nowadays by UMNO supporters.
I nearly died …behind stoned bu more than a dozen malays from a mosque compound…..five kilometers away from reaching Melaka from Muar old road.
Not me only…so many incidents and death were caused…no news on that.
At KL…so many chinese houses were burnt and fights were created there dozens chinese died due to military assisting the malays .
witsO can tell you more…and I also nearly died …defending chinese houses being burnt in Gombak for a month!!
Why are they afraid of Dr. Kua’s book? Go read it and debate it is all false at Parliament….never too late….but they cannot debate…because it is all true….and they use their power to always cover up their lies decade after decade.

  19. monsterball says:

The more they ban..the more people want to read it….so across the causeway….thousands will be readily available. Let them search from planes…buses and private cars from S’pore into Malaysia ….for this ban book…if what jeancumlately suggest cannot be done by Dr.Kua….and whys should….when it is a potential best seller to earn him some money for his great efforts.

  20. wits0 says:

Kua deserves every penny he makes from this book and it isn’t his only one either. He has long spoken out against falsehood which Bodohland is long enshrouded in and has sacrificed much in this effort to clear the mainstream obfuscations of past decades.

  21. Philip Lau says:

Please supply to me 20 copies of the May 13 book. I wrote to you last Sunday where I can buy the book at JB or Singapore. For further details, please obtain from Susan Loone, please.

It will be wonderful if the entire contents of the book can be published in the internet. But it will not be fair to both the author and the publisher in the circumstances.

I have also ordered 6 copies…at Liz blog.

“DO NOT SPEAK ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THE CONSEQUENCES”- susan loone, 24 April 2007, Bangkok

I was reading some of the comments here and on a few postings before on the same subject, May 13th.

Are we really ready for the truth? I’m sorry susan but the problem is, most of us are still not able to look at the things from the perpective of colorless malaysians. The comments are still malays vs chinese. Its actually about malaysians killing another malaysians for stupid reasons.

We are all victims one way or another. Look at the perpetrators, people. This is what I think this book is all about.

  24. susan loone says:

Jean, I agree that some people are not ready for the truth at all. That’s why we are still at the level of melayu vs chinese vs melayu etc. That’s the fault of the government and their supporters who are always making things look skewed.

That’s why we need the truth out so people can see that their ignorance, prejudices, violent nature, racist attitudes have been manipulated for others benefit, not their own at all.

All races are to be blame for this. I hope many eyes and hearts will be opened when the truth comes out. If our parents have made mistakes. I hope we will not repeat them.

  25. Philip Lau says:

    Elizabeth Wong

Where can I forward my Malaysian Cheque MR400 to, please?

  26. susan loone says:

    Eli Wong!!!

10 books for me as well!!!

    🙂

Everyone, please help Dr Kua Kia Soong by buying more than 5 books each.

They will make a lovely Merdeka gift for your friends and families. 🙂

  27. monsterball says:

oopp… sorry my dear jeancumlately….it was Susan’s suggestion.
Again I respectfully disagree with Susan that all races are to be blame.
When one is put on a position…being accused this or that…and have no way to defend himself…one have no choice but to apply same tactics and seems to fall into the trap..then..this is exactly what the devils want you to do….and start behaving like saints from heaven to judge others wrong doings.
I repeat Chinese are by nature self employed and need no help from the government….but if the Chinese are put to suffer for the sake of helping the malays…why should they keep quiet? So talk…and quarrel starts..who is at fault?
It is so easy to say..it takes two to clap a hand…and quarrels starts by two. NO MY DEAR SUSAN!! Instigators..trouble causers….and involving the future of the Chinese lively hood…work so hard…yet no future for their children decade after decade…being taught lies after lies….bluntly speaking…no bachelor can understand this…if you don’t have children of your own to live or die for….yet die for no faults of their own?…failed…but really worked hard and should not fail…because he does not want to carry balls to succeed?
No Susan…it is the real smart and cunning way to twist and turn that so many chinese are caught up …playing into their dirty games….but now…more and more are educated…can think…even the majority malays realise it is not good for their future too. They can think and talk and have seen chinese help their children as their bosses. I am one of them…where my malay parents respect me to guide their children to good productive work and change their lazy attitudes to a hard working ones.
They know Chinese are not racilalist..but out to make money from business employing the right workers…be it any race…yet if all are chinese workers….they say Chinese are not fair…but now it is easier….malays are well educated and do get employmenship from chinese small companies….so do you think the government change the chinese attitudes or the chinese are smart to employ right people?
Chinese are never afraid…nor are trouble causer..Susan.

  28. wits0 says:

Jean and Susan, while I do agree with you both on your take yet it must not be forgotten that it was that so called “security” forces that aggravates the conflict resulting in the disproportionate number of deaths by gunshots and the unspoken atrocities inflicted on suspected gangsters. All this because of a few malays included arm forces personnels who were killed in a theatre on that fateful night. This seems to have followed the first spilling of blood at around 5pm in Kg Baru

So in that Systemic breakdown of Law and Order, it was the revenged thing aided by the culpable institution by way of the armed forces that caused the whole thing to explode the way it did. I think this is something Monty is trying to say too. The institution did not atone for this and instead blame it on others….and this is what stinks.

  29. monsterball says:

witsO..Thanks for pointing out …focusing on to the subject…but I went far far more than May13th incident….to once and for all stop others blame the Chinese anything.

  30. jeancumlately says:

No wits0, its not forgotten. Infact, I really think this is the fact that needs to be looked at and not about the chinese are victims and the malays are the killers. All are victimes. All are just pawns. We need to look at the perpetrators and why did so many MALAYSIANS killed.

  31. monsterball says:

Why jeancumlately….Why do so many other innocent citizens killed or die from so many countries?’
Same lah…Govt controls every thing…so powerful….but voters have no guts to change for the better.
So why look further and blame others? BLAME US!!

  32. wits0 says:

And the stench continues because some UMNO members(senators)now protested this book which tend to cast some light on the whole horrendous episode. Just like the Kg Baru politician who protested the Sarawak Rangers over their true professionalism and the skewreed Gomen of the day complied and brought in the Malay Regiment! The havoc then continues. And then amidst the constant broadcasts over the airwaves and the newspapers plus posters everywhere of not to listen to rumours, the deliberate planned killing of Indians in the Sentul community happened less than two weeks or so afterwards.

The standard canard kept alive by officialdom being that the DAP is implicitly to be blamed. I was there on the night of the DAP celebration too ; yes it was boisterous and noisy but one has to take the heavy claims of “3 days” of insult and abusing of the malays with a grain of salt. I feel it its a blown up thing and excuse.

The election rally/campaign speeches earlier was a dynamic indeed. In one, DAP one, one speaker could speak 4 languages and alternates flawlessly among them. The Alliance Rally speeches simply could not match that in the Malacca Court, Batu Road.

  33. monsterball says:

That DAP speaker is none other than Lee Lum Thye…who forgot who made him famous and left DAP to get rich.
But get it clear…Chinese can vote for the devils..sell their souls..but are never trouble causers or instigators. They inherited from their forefathers…China…..non power crazy people.

  34. wits0 says:

If there be a blame as to who ignited the whole thing, it has to be MB Harun Idris, and perhaps some other still hidden hands behind the busing in of their supporters to his mansion for that hubris and the instigatory hate speech of bad losers.

  35. monsterball says:

You are absolutely right…yet up to today UMNO …do not want to admit it. But they got a strange way to also admitting their mistakes …by putting Harun in jail…..based on corruptions to satisfy the chinese….but not based on a much much more terrible crime that may demand him to be hanged till dead. Yet …he was pardoned after awhile. That’s UMNO style of justice….to please ..in order to admit ….then hoping all okay….go back to their nonsense again and again.!! Hundreds died and clear admission of guilt by UMNO or one individual or few must be exposed. So they keep on denying by banning the book!!

  36. hasilox says:

Compare the germans and the japaneses. Why the germans no longer have to carry the baggage of their history but, the japaneses still unable to lift their heads high? History need to be told as it is and learn from it.

More than 10 years ago, I took a taxi, driven by a malay man. He looked about 50+. He told me similar story about may13, about power struggle.

Someone blogged on this last year. Do read the comments.

  37. monsterball says:

Because The Japanese are similar to the Chinese….not power crazy but forced to go to war by the Americans and they do feel very very guilty by killing so many innocent people…even millions of their people died from the atom bombs…..they don’t care about that…as they feel they deserve the bombs fighting the Americans and are gentlemen losers….but regret very much to hurt most Asian countries….and of course their soldiers most terrible bad behaviors. Remember….they are very shy and private old fashion people. They made the biggest mistake by applying their old cultures to treat others same…thinking it’s okay. Now they realise their silly mistakes and cannot get over it…even up to know. That’s nobleness for UMNO to learn from the Japanese. UMNO need to really Look East and learn THEMSELVES……..not teach others only.
In a sense…they are like the Chinese…very diplomatic to America…but really not that close sincerely.
    Germans?….LESS SAID THE BETTER.

  38. hasilox says:

monsterball, sorry for not making my point clear enough.

My point is that because the germans took responsibility and did not whitewash their history, they can face the world without any shame or whatsoever. In contrast, the japaneses tried damn hard to whitewash their history. Till today, they still cannot face the world as far as their history is concerned. There is something for malaysia to learn here, right?

  39. wits0 says:

Malaysia would rather suck up to retrogressive Arab cultural influence than face up to history. It will not cease to whitewash history and is predisposed to deny responsibility.

It does not seem to understand what’s true dignity but practices cheap hubris to feel good. The shallow officially promoted taste for hotair and heavy dependance on this boosterism psychological drug is such a clever contrivance like no others! Haha.

  40. monsterball says:

yes hasilox. The Japanese have principles in life.
They even killed themselves if they bring shame to their family or country..even now. Resigning as a minister is nothing hard to do..even proven small mistake. Here you have few robberies and fire at the airport…Min.Of Transport…was Samy Vellu….you go and conclude.
Japanese are are sensitive…proud and brave.

  41. noname says:

    Dear Susan,

I wasn’t born yet on 13th May. But it sure is scary to read some of the experiences by the commentators here especially bout who kill who. Anyhow i hope you and the commentators can show the younger generation how to move forward i.e. to have greater understanding among races and make 13th May a history lesson which should not be repeated by anybody. Hope the truth will not inspire any youngster(s) to start another 13th May. Perhaps we need more interracial programs like ‘NS Training’?

    Just my humble opinion. Thanks

  42. monsterball says:

noname…..You should put this question to UMNO ministers…especially PM and Najib. UMNO did it…UMNO should know how to undo it.
So…you know it is very difficult is it not?
Then the only solution is will ALL citizens behave like good Malaysians and only interested in the truths of how we became Malaysia and who actually started 13th May 1969 incident?
Will wise private malays dare to tell the truths to their sons and daughters?
Most are trained to tolorate other races with the notion we are second class citizens…that we can stay here..no problem…but we must respect and be afraid of them…the owners…do you know that?
They are being programed they own Malaysia and they must defend it with their lives…not from outside enemies…but from second class citizens.
Now from the above…you are thinking…terrible…scary….sure to fight again…yes?
But NO!! All educated and majority Malaysians somehow…have lost confidences of UMNO….that’s the most important sign. So when you do not trust your father…and realises he has no principles in life..steal from others …you will feel ashame and not listen …right?
Based on that….you are safe…but no good enough!!
Now you all youngsters have to do your part….especially from the Chinese.
You know you are from the superior race..don’t be shy..you know it!! So you are smarter and more open minded. Now stretched out your hands and befriend to as many malays as your friends. Mix with them as Malaysians..not as malays and chinese…..but Malaysians. Invite them home and also visit their homes. Start talking..joking and make them talk and be friendly.
I do this all the time….and am sure thousands chinese are doing this also.
So continue mixing…..go to movies together….picnics…eating at stalls.
You will find how really nice and good people they are…and maybe feel ashame you are doing it abit too late..but better late than never.
Chinese youngsters can contribute to safer Malaysia. Don’t just talk..do it.
And if you are old enough to vote..for goodness sake vote for oppositions to have a change..as government can make us unite very fast ..if one wants to do it. So try another…no good… go back to UMNO. They don’t own MALAYSIA!! But they behave like they do…some of them…not all.

  43. monsterball says:

I am going to challenge anyone saying Asians like China..Japan North or South Korea….Vietnam… ALL decendants from Mongolians are power crazy people.
550 years..China could have done it with 3000 ships sailing around the world. where ever they go..no one dares to fight them….yet they went as visitors..to trade and befriends. We are all the decendants from one type of genes….and is still very much intack…non power crazy people…but love doing business.
So how on Earth can be accused as causing 13th May 1969 incident?
Ah but REMEMBER …Chinese are not afraid…non cowards..and they will defend their rights with their lives…no need anyone to train them ..it is their natural brave heritage too.
All over the world…only one race is most welcome to be their citizens….the CHINESE. Others need to bring millions….buy houses..this or that. Chinese goes with their bare two hands. Go check it out why!!

  44. monsterball says:

Then ask the Malays to look into their forefathers..the ARABS and tell me what are they.
So do they want to learn from the better…the Malaysian Chinese of from the the Arabs?
Look at Middle East…that’s malays heritage and genes.
But majority wise malays have discarded and disown this heritage and call themselves Malaysians. Best of all…so many marry chinese women and love them as one…now grew with so many thousand children ..as our nations good Malaysians.
So UMNO knows it is safe for few to start showing their kris again…to ignite the fire and play with fire…to keep them busy doing nothing for the country…makan gaji buta….decades after decades.

Because The Japanese are similar to the Chinese….not power crazy but forced to go to war by the Americans and they do feel very very guilty by killing so many innocent people… (Please understand hasilox’s comments)

    My Comment:
Forced to go to war by Americans? Errr… The Japanese feel guilty? Would the rape of Nanking ring any bell? The death railway? The sex slave? Did I missed an apology from Japan? (Please understand hasilox’s comments)

    Monsterball:
Will wise private malays dare to tell the truths to their sons and daughters?

    Comment:
That is the whole problem and I think it is something that I have to pint out again. Careful with the generalization of MALAYS. 99% of Malays was not involved on 13th May. Those who got involved was instigated. Find the truth first who was the intigators. When the Communist tortured and killed the malays, they are communist. If the instigator for May 13th is UMNO, then say it clearly: UMNO.

jeancumlately…I knew someone will talk about Japan war with China…but it is a war between brothers and relations….go find out the history of these two countries. Now you show me either country create a war with a race entirely different from theirs….conquer it and declare theirs like the Dutch on Indonesian for 300 years.. and British on us India and so many many more that they are proud to declare….’The Sun never sets on Britian”.the thick skinned modern slave owners…….and the Americans use proxies to devide and rule countries wherever they go…indirectly controlling that said country and make brothers fight against brothers….they are the worst of all..
yea..you wise race….jeancumlately…go spread the good news. so successful with religion…what so hard about real truths of our 50 years short history….starting from getting Dr.Kua’s book and let them read.

  51. monsterball says:

Let it be anything wattahack…but Polynesians?…boy…no wonder they love to get rich without working.

  52. monsterball says:

jeancumlately…Unless you know the real reasons why Japan went to war on WW11….no use to debate on this matter with you.
Don’t be sarcastic..I meant well when I said the Chinese are smarter than the malays and it is a fact that they should stretched out their hands in friendship first….so don’t make it an issue by calling them hitler vs kkk.
Malays are like hitler? What do you knows about Hitler? PEOPLE TELL ME THEIR OPINIONS ON HITLER…..but i give you a hint..he was a genuis. And Chinese are all gangsters?…on the point of potraying chinese are daring….yes!!
Now you pick up from my point with your response…’Interesting comment” and don’t ask how…why…what to do. Give some good advises to youngsters.

  53. monsterball says:

Right fromthe start..I have said the instigator is UMNO and Hurun is the mastermind…jeancumlately…but at that time..majority malays supported UMNO…so you cannot say leave the 99% out!!
Wrongs were recognised my majority malays…through whose teachings?…thriough schol;s or their parents?…maybe 5% the most. Wrongs wwre rigt by the natural process of seeing and learning by themselves….Now tey are as smart as Chinese…got it?

  54. monsterball says:

Sorry for so many typing mistake of above message. Hope you can get my message clearly.
Jeancumlately…During 1969….malays all want special previledges…all hoping to get rich without working….as a valid excuse to compete with the Chinese. But it is the Chinese that got them rich..by the famous ‘ali baba’ system..UMNO may hate it…but they got rich..so were the chinese.
Actually..indirectly…it is this co-operation out of necessities that made the malays understand the chinese better as years went by.
So the more UMNO tries to favour the malays…the more the malays got closer to the chinese…so much so….the ‘Have Nots” malays begin to see the great hypocracies of UMNO…choosing cronies to get rich…not really fair to all malays…thus groups were clearly seen seperated..and the group of malays got larger and larger against UMNO…because the hypocracies of UMNO was getting worst and worst every year…especially the last 10 years under TDM…downright seperating the malays with no effort to get them close togather.

  55. monsterball says:

jeancumlately…let hasilox clearly explain what he means.
If he keeps quiet..means he agrees with me.

  56. monsterball says:

jeancumlately…Germans went to war for a cause..like the Knights Templars…or you may compare it to Saladin The Great for Jerusalem. I am not going to talk about European history….when we cannot settle our own.
So Germans can hold their heads high….but Japanese still cannot do it…for they fell into the trap of the Americans..as by nature…they do not wish to conquer any country!!’Again if you want to talk about Hitler…please do not be programmed by filthy American and British lies about him…just like they did on Mao Tze Tung and Ho Chin Min
May I remind you….the word COMMUNIST created by China…means all work togather without ranks and positions…all are commoners. Now if malaysia had that wisdom….we will not be what we are today. why don’t UMNO follow goos results of other countries? Got any advises for the chinese…jeancumlately?

  57. monsterball says:

Waiting for jeancumlately to fire me back on Hitler..known as the butcher..killing millions of Jews…like flies.
    It is a doumented fact.
jeancumlately…I tell you…all learnerd Muslims never hate Hitler..there is another hint to you!!

  58. hasilox says:

    Monty,

Both german and japan were war aggressors. I just wanted to point out why one can leave their past behind while the other can’t. I think, a lot has to do with their attitude towards their histories.

Hitler was the worst evil in the history of mankind. His madness and racist policies killed millions of people. Tens of millions more from the World War 2 he instigated. Read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler
Don’t support him nor his racism.

You voted for BN before right? So were many other msians. You ‘knew’ yet you still voted for them. Other people didn’t know mah. Others guilt for their innocence, yours was by choice. So, you are more guilty lah! hehe. Not fair to single out anybody.

Almost everyone work like mad to earn daily meals. Some don’t need to work. Just ‘take’ from the country’s coffer. Is chinese smarter? hehe. Ali is defintely smarter than the chinese. Baba is defintely smarter than the malays. The only smart race in msia is alibaba!

  59. monsterball says:

I sincerely love jeancumlately very much. I used her to point out many of my thoughts…right or wrong….. lets debate.
But I want to apologise to jeancumlately..if I sound harsh to her.
She is all woman and a smart one too! I hope she will come to my birthday part on 19th at 4pm! sure like to meet her one nice day….Susan too!!

  60. monsterball says:

hasilox..I am not going to debate about germans and japanese are aggressors…which i somewhat disagree with you on both counts.
Yes…very rarely I voted for BN..but I vote not for myself …but for the country. Right or wrong…I am going to apply same attitude for each election.
I do not feel one bit guilty. I am trying to point out…if all voted as with same attitudes….then UMNO would have been out long ago…as under TDM…I voted for oppositions…no matter who…for more democratics rights. It was under TDM last election…I was most excited….as the feel of change was quite real…but alas…BN won again.
Once again…If all vote without favouring any party like me…why all are smart voters!! I do not feel guilty….I feel disappointed..and afterall…it was Pak Lah’s first chance..why not give him that? What to feel guilty about? But he does disappointed me right now.
Again haslox…your conclusion of Hitler is sadly been programmed by USA and Britian…period! You think the whole country will follow a man to hate the Jews….just because he said it? This means you think all Germans are mad or idiots.

  61. jeancumlately says:

Well, monty… I found no harsh word in your comments but like they said, I got lost in translation sometimes. May be I have to go back to school and learn english 101 again.

I’ll try not to rebut word by word coz its going to take me one whole night and forego my dinner. Your stereotyping of races is a bit disturbing to me and honestly, I do not see how all races are to sit on a rountable and discuss about reconcilliation with that mindset.

I consider myself as the new generation of malay and I look at chinese as mere business competitors, friends, associate, colleagues, partners, employee, etc. They are individuals. Some may even be robbers, rapists or priests but I would not say he is a robber or a genius because he is a chinese. By the same token, I would not take it lightly and laugh it off when a chinese told me that I am a lazy alibaba and less smarter than him/her.

Again, stop the stereotyping. For instance, 85% of Malay contractors are alibaba. Please check who are these alibabas. Its the same people within the same circle and they do not even represent 1% of Malays (Maybe the figure is not accurate but I hope you get my point). Would you blame the Malays?

I worked my little butt out. I have to pay as much bribe and have to work twice as hard to recover the cost of the bribes. Dare to call me a lazy alibaba? Say it to my face and I’ll show you May 13th…

… not all germans are mad idiots. So do malays, monty.

BTW monty, on the 19th… I’ll make that a surprise but I’ll give you a hint. Just look for a lady in white T and blue jeans, about 5′ 6″ with a shoulder-length hair.

  62. monsterball says:

    Great news!

jeancumlately….I am very fortunate to have so many lovely good malay friends…including few Indians.
Strange as it may seem…my real real good chinese friends of my are still my old class mates…6 years old…imagine friends for past 62 years!!
Working life….yes mostly in Malaysia are chinese ..and don’t ask me are they better than malays and I will tell you no lies.

jeancumlately….I am very fortunate to have so many lovely good malay friends…including few Indians.

Working life….yes mostly in Malaysia are chinese ..and don’t ask me are they better than malays and I will tell you no lies…but my main businees ha always been with Europeans..Australians and Americans…few Koreans and Japanese…thus I need to read and know lot of their history or talk to them..their religions and to get different views to form my own conclusions.
But we are not talking about those lovely malays we know…are we not?
I cannot describe it well..but somehow …it boils down to MONEY…and there you see ….sheeps become wolfs….pigs become wild boars…snakes suddenly have two heads!
Who do I indentify myself to these groups?….why i am a pig..still a pig…nothing can change or bribe me to change.
So perhaps you are a sweet chick..too sweet…and usually sweet good fellas suffer more than others…including this good old pig.
Then lastly….WE HAVE TO FACE FACTS!!…GO and study races all over the world…actually devided into four groups…whites…brown.. yellow and black skins. Face facts…there are differences…but Malaysia is very very fortunate. We have all these in ONE COUNTRY…and we can create a unique specie no other countries have such a good opportunity…that is Malaysians. What colour are our skins? Why beautiful rainbow.

After dubbing this book as undesirable, what’s the Gomen gonna do next? Putting the “may” before “undesirable” seems like those “O&E” escape hatches found in everyday bills. An indication that it’s really unsure but nevetheless must bark first.

Here’s an opportunity to go down into history :

Sure fire way to make and entry into The Guinness Book of World Records – with full ignominy. Haha.

If not up to it, the whole brouhaha becomes hot air…something that no longer amuses because of its frequency of occurance and its selective nature that precludes censuring of leaky Neanderthal MPs along the same theme of being “undesirable”.

It seems that Che Din Yusof, secretary of the publications and al-Quran texts control department at the Internal Security Ministry said he and his people can finish reading the book in a day but need 3 days to digest it!
http://politics101malaysia.blogsome.com/ under “May 13 book still under probe ”

So much for the dissonance between claimed reading skill(speed) and slow comprehension. It’s an unwitting admission of capability.

Man, this guys really blathers without awareness of what he is delivering! As long as they utter something, they are deemed to speak sensibly and performing their duty!?

hasilox…you can bet your life…right now..the two USA Bushes killed more innocent bystanders than Hitler did …on real war. Bushes killed so many millions….just to control oil or anything for their benefits…such as no peace means good business selling more war products…that’s what made US govt survive…selling arms. So how to survive without wars?
Hitler killed Jews based on historical and religious rights. Right or wrong…the whole country solidly stood behind him for years!!Those who betrayed him…knew the war cannot be won and were bought over.
I put out few sentences to let you know…how others think….and not the standard conclusion…Hitler is evil….far from the truths.

hasilox…And if you want my personal opinion on Germans….I never liked them. Hope they have changed now from the young generations. In old days…they truly are arrogant..use you ..then finds ways to make you have no other choice….but to resign..and they will send a 25 year old German to be your boss…even if you are 40 years and have built their company up for years.. They are very racialistic people….and look down on others…but if you go and visit few German cities…you somewhat feel sad they put on a superiority complex to infect cover their inferiority one…be it waiter or managers.

    Dear Susan,

May 13th Tragedy. Sound like 911 in America. Sometimes people refuse to talk about it or they talk very softly about it, till today it is a very interesting subject. Thank You to Dr Kua for publishing this great book, maybe lots of truth need to be prevailed. I would certainly get a copy if i get purchase one at the book stall.

    Cheers !!!!!!!

  71. monsterball says:

Exactly Lee Hoon. From the start Bush bullshitted their people it is an attack on so many innocent people from all countries died at the tragic incident…but never really admit the real reason why Osama Bin Laden did it..yet he is still alive….and Sadam and his ministers have to be the scapegoats…devil killing few of his deciples …to look like saint.
But thanks to nowadays fast internet messages..and more than 65% Americans now know Bush is a liar and killer. His side kick Blair is leaving end of June.
So our May13th 1969 riots…somehow…I am sure alot will be on internet and hope youngsters ..especially malays … have an open mind to read and know the real truths.

  72. muhammadyunus says:

Research by economist Alberto Alesina and Roberto Perotti have shown that high-inequality countries do tend to have more social instability. This tendency however does not signify that inequality ’causes’ social unrest.

One part of the problem may be that it is not always inequality per se that causes social discord, but also how inequality is perceived to have come. Unrest may reflect more a sense of betrayal – that others are not living up to their implied promises.

Hence, the incident on the 13 of May 1969 must be a reaction to ‘something’ or a bargain which has been violated – a social contract that was not embodied in the Constitution and the Rukunegara.

All lands on Earth belong to all humanity. In this temporary sojourn on Earth, predatory men seeks to own and control everything without due consideration for others’ humanitarian rights. And the ignorant unthinking conventions of the masses lead them to continue that way. The mass consciousness creates the very Reality they get.

  77. monsterball says:

sao..I do not know what you mean that it was supposed to happen in 1955..but I know what you are trying to say.
Why not blame you or me and those Indians for unable to change govt. of the day. Why always suffer humiliations from BN and yet keep voting them in?
But if you are like me…mostly vote oppositions…then why talk fighting other races like animals to claim ownership of the land? Why not start telling all friends and relatives to vote oppositions and why. Presuming one race win all..two races…all died…you think that will be the end of the killings and peace on earth to all mankind be for Malaysia? Dream on…more and more killings will come.
Let other talk..as talk is cheap. I said I admire your bravery…so be brave and always be prepared to die ….defending your rights….not agreeing to a quarrel to settle tings. let other starts..but we must never run or migrate to other countries. to me..those are mostly cowards…thinking of themselves..not their fellow countrymen.

  78. Yoda says:

I remember May 13, even though I was a kid back then. My late father, a medical doctor, treated all victims, irrespective of their race or religion. He also gave refuge to two other families. So, in the midst of all this madness, you had an Indian family, a Chinese family and a Malay family, living in peace and harmony, in one home… our home.

  79. hawaiichee says:

On the NEP and the special position of the Bumiputera …

Please read the following blog by a famous and intelligent lawyer about the special position of the Malay and bumiputera as mentioned in Article 153.

    http://www.malikimtiaz.blog

“I say this to lay foundation for the question of whether the Federal Constitution does provide for a privileged existence in the manner suggested at the general assembly.

The constitutional provision pivotal to any discussion of this subject is article 153. It refers to the ‘special position’ of the Malays and the natives of Sabah and Sarawak and declares that it is the responsibility of the Yang Dipertuan Agong to safeguard these communities and the legitimate interests of other communities. It does not describe this ‘special position’ as a privileged status.

The founders of the nation did not at any point in time contemplate the creation of a two-tiered society such as some of some might have us believe. They contemplated the possibility that due to historical factors there might be a need to introduce certain measures so as not to allow for the dislocation or marginalizing of certain communities. This was not intended to translate into a promotion of particular communities to the detriment of others.

For this reason, article 153 recognises the legitimate interests of other communities. Further, it provides the means to ensure an adequate balance in the way protection measures are deployed. It is in this light that provision is made for reservation of positions in the public service and of scholarships, exhibitions and other similar educational or training privileges or special facilities given or accorded by the Federal Government and permits and licences where such are required under federal law. This balance is guaranteed further by the express declaration that the provision is not aimed at empowering the restriction of business or trade solely for the purpose of the protective measures. In short, there is no basis for wholesale reservations or quotas.

    http://www.malikimtiaz.blog

“Put another way, despite suggestions to the contrary the Federal Constitution does not lend itself to any notions of a privileged existence for any community. It does however envisage a protected status for the Malays and the indigenous which allows for selective measures to be taken fairly and reasonably to a particular end. Any policy of the Federal Government aimed at achieving this end, whether the National Economic Policy, the New Development Policy or otherwise, cannot be seen as vesting greater rights than those contemplated under Article 153. Any other reading would allow for the kinds of abuses that are apparent.

The analysis offered above is not a difficult one. Article 153 is clear. It lends itself to affirmative action where such action is needed. Political expediency has resulted in the provision being mischaracterized and used to particular ends. This in itself is not surprising as politicians will operate as politicians do. What is of interest to me is how and why the characterization has been permitted by Malaysian society to perpetuate to the extent that as we come into our 50th year as an independent nation, the ‘two-tier’ notion has become so entrenched in our social landscape. And why is it that even as the notion continues to divide us, we insist on describing what happens in the country as being a part of a democratic process?

One of the principal reasons for this sad state of affairs is the nurturing of a climate of fear. Laws that allow for preventive detention without trial like the Internal Security Act, that stifle free expression such as the Sedition Act and the Printing Presses and Publications Act and which impede necessary access to vital information such as the Official Secrets Act have kept many Malaysians in the dark and in fear. If they have not been directly threatened or attacked, these laws have allowed the unscrupulous to demonize concerned Malaysians as being anti-Malay or anti-constitutional. They have allowed for the perversion of the social contract theory.

Additionally, a conservative Judiciary which has shied away from developing a strong civil rights tradition in our legal system has perhaps unwittingly allowed for the concomitant undermining of the rule of law. This has weakened our sense of right and wrong.

In this way, policy stereotypes have been permitted to develop and in effect become the law. Our claims to social integration are a hollow boast. Harmony cannot be found at the bottom of the gun barrel that supremacist Malay thinking is pointing at all others including non-extremist Malays.

If UMNO is serious about making amends for what transpired at the general assembly, let us hear then from its leaders of a plan by which the Federal Government intends to take us back to the spirit of protection and the dismantling of the ‘privilege’ mindset. Let us hear an admission of how the climate of fear has led to the development of racist tendencies that no amount of platitudes will help us deal with.

Until then, Malaysians should be forgiven for thinking that they have arrived at the beginning of the end.”

I support the Constitution of the special position of the Malay, the role of the Sultan, the preservation of the Malay language and culture. I am glad of the identity of Malaysia so far being rich in culture and having the Bahasa Malaysia language and an official religion of Islam. This are all symbols to celebrate the rich diversity we have. Also it is meant to ensure the Malay culture does not go extinct. This is important as in other countries, the red indians or the Hawaiians fear the loss of their culture, and affirmative action is in place to safe guard against that.

So the special position of the Malays in getting training and in giving them aid when they need it is praise worthy. But, what is to be scorned at:

    1. Bumiputera getting housing discount of houses above RM300,000.

    2. Bumiputera getting contracts when they are not capable to do it.

    3. Chancellors of Universities being elected even when they are not capable.

    4. Professors who are not Bumiputera do not get recognized encouraging brain drain in Malaysia and the status of Malaysian universities dropping drastically to a pathetic state losing to all Asian countries.

    5. Corruption in the UMNO politicians.

    6. Corruption in the Badawi family.

  80. Angry Sabahan says:

I read the book and it seems like our top leaders do not want the truth on the May 13 to be known. It was a ploy for someone to come into power and sentiments were raised to incited hatred!
    God Bless Malaysia!
