PUTRAJAYA, September 2 – Datuk Seri Najib Razak pointed out today that only the police and Attorney-General can decide on the fate of the cow-head protestors. His remarks came just hours after the home minister appeared to suggest no action should be taken.
“They (the police and AG) will determine if their actions were against the Sedition Act,” the prime minister told reporters at Putra Perdana.
Earlier this afternoon, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein defended and justified last Friday’s cow-head demonstration after meeting with Malay-Muslim representatives of Shah Alam’s Section 23 at his office.
The home minister also said that if the controversy could be resolved, there would be no need to penalise any party.

And… they all have no idea where the cow head has come from!

I foresee that this matter will be dropped by AG on the basis that the Hindu Sangam Association has accepted the explanation by the group and had apologized to them. SHAH ALAM, Sept 2 – The Selangor government has today decided to reduce the rental for low cost houses under the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), from RM250 a month to RM124 for tenants earning less than RM1,500.
State Housing, Building Management and Squatters Committee chairman Iskandar Abdul Samad said previously such reduced rent only applied to those earning less than RM1,500 and with five family members.
“After discussing the matter at a meeting, we have agreed to drop the restriction of five family members which came into force in November last year,” he said in a statement here today.
He added that the government would also consider appeals from those earning more than RM1,500, based on three criteria.
Iskandar said the first applies to those who have four to seven children and earn less than RM2,100, the second is for those with eight to 10 children and earn less than RM2,550 and those who have 11 to 15 children with earnings less than RM3,300 a month.
“Their appeals for reduction can be processed by their respective local councils,” he said. – Bernama
Initially, the Section 23 action committee deputy chair Ibrahim Sabri said the cow head is a present to the state government.

The IGP Musa Hassan said immediate action will be taken.

the protest initially started without cowhead, then suddenly appeared during the march or when the group reaches the office (probably by some P-R agent provocateurs) when things got heated. and situation got tense, the protesters couldn’t think properly and used the cowhead in the protest along, but their initiative is never to provoke religion but to tell the state gov don’t be like a cow following orders. somehow, the P-R agents exploited the situation and spin it to religion provocation, where the cowhead was most probably brought by them (and quietly slot into the protest unknowingly).

When Malaysiakini reported on 29th August that Mahyuddin Manaf, the chairperson of the Section 23 residents action committee, who organised the ‘cow head’ demo in Shah Alam last Friday, claimed that the appearance of the cow head at the demo was a complete mystery to the organisers, I thought that only an idiot would swallow this story.
Well both Malaysiakini and Malaysianinsider have it that the Home Minister not only bought into this story after meeting up with the residents, but he has come out in defence of the demonstrators.
Whilst I would not quarrel with anyone who insists that the Home Minister is idiotic enough to believe this yarn, I don’t believe for even one moment that story by Mahyuddin or that Hisham believes it.
Before I say anymore on this, let’s just note first that Malaysiakini today also reports that the Selangor CPO has confirmed that the police investigations into the ‘cow head’ incident has been completed and forwarded to the AG’s chambers and they are awaiting further instructions. In these circumstances, I think the Home Minister has no business making public statements justifying the actions of the demonstrators, as this may be seen as an attempt to influence the decision-making at the AG’s chambers.

The Malaysian Insider understands that Noh was forced to defend himself at the Cabinet meeting yesterday. He told the meeting that he did not instigate the Malay-Muslims of Section 23 to protest against the temple relocation.
He is understood to have also told the Cabinet that he would organise a sit-down with Hindus and Muslims in the neighbourhood.
However Hindu Sangam president RS Mohan Shahmugam today told The Malaysian Insider they have had no official invitation yet to meet the federal government about the issue.
Hindu Sangam also believes the proposed site in Section 23 is the best area to relocate the temple.
Mohan said the temple was not meant to cater only to the Hindus from Section 23 but also from Sections 19, 20, 21 and 22.
Together there are at least 3,000 Hindus in these areas, Mohan said, adding the issue of relocating the temple from its current site in Section 19, had been pending for the last two decades.
He also denied claims made yesterday by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein that residents of Section 23 had met Hindu Sangam to resolve the relocation issue.
“I have checked and there was no such meeting.”
However Mohan said he would welcome a meeting with the minister.
Meanwhile Hindu residents of Section 23 today also denied press reports that they also did not want the temple to be relocated to the area.
K. Raju said one third of all residents in Section 23 were Non-Malays and they have carried out a signature campaign to support the state government’s move to relocate the temple.
He also disputed claims in the press that the cow’s head used during the protest was brought to the scene by outsiders.

Malaysiakini difahamkan bahawa kepala babi itu ditemui oleh salah seorang pelajar pro-Mahasiswa – Mohd Azlan Zainal – yang pergi ke surau tersebut, untuk menunaikan solat Subuh.
