Now, this is one foundation you may want to donate to:

An association of independent journalists based in Bangkok and coordinated by French Liberation correspondent Arnaud Dubus has set up a foundation to offer material support to the family of Mongolian Altantuya Shaaribuu, killed in Malaysia in october 2006. The Altantuya Foundation aims to bring concrete help to Mr Shaaribuu, the father of the deceased, and her two children, Altanshagai (five years old) and Mungunshagai (12 years old).

“When i met Shaaribuu in Ulan Bator in January, he told me he has not bought clothes for two years as he could not afford it. This sixty year old man has to work on two different jobs,to be able to take care of this two orphaned grand children”, says Arnaud Dubus. “I am a journalist, but i also have a heart. I could not help feel compassion for the Shaaribuu family”, he adds.

For transparency, the Fondation will be supervised by the Mongolian embassy in Bangkok. All donations will be given to the Embassy which will convey them directly to Mr Shaaribuu. The first donor was Danthong Breen, well known Thai human rights activist and Chairman of the Union for Civil Liberties. All donors receives an official receipt. Small contributions (as well as bigger ones, but not too big please) are very much welcome, as a small amount can make a huge difference for the life of the Shaaribuu Family. Foundation founders consider that it would be a wonderful gesture of human solidarity for people from different Nations, Asian and Western, to show their support for the family of this young interpreter savagely killed at the age of 28 years old.

I am ashamed to be Malaysian… this is what this tragedy has brought to us Malaysians. Lets ensure there is justice no matter how long it takes.

And just what was needed to help the Shaaribuu family so thank you Mr Arnaud Dubus and all the others who helped to set up this Foundation and will manage it.

No matter what it takes or how long it takes, justice must be done for Altantuyaa and her family. And the Malayisian Government needs to understand that nothing short of that will be acceptable to decent Malaysians and to all those decent others in the international community .

Its a pity that we have not heard anything abt actions may or will taken by the Mongolian Govt regarding the murder of her citizen. It seems that the Mongolian Govt is not interested to push ahead to find the truth. How laxed it seems that the murderers can go scot free. Hopefully this Foundation will work at getting the murderers’ necks and put them in the right place where they belong.

  20. Justice says:

It is impossible to set up the Foundation in Malaysia if one is able to see the obstacles that are deliberately created to thwart any attempt at a fair hearing and expectation of justice. The events in Perak are a good example. It seems that the BN govt has its own interpretation and expectation of what is right. There are enough govt institutions that can legally interpret and execute UMNO’s wishes to its satisfaction.
There is a rumour circulating that the Altantunya family has been bought off and thus Mr.Shaaribuu’s absence from Malaysia during the trial. If we accept the version of Liberation, then I guess Mr.Shaaribuu deserves all our help.
The impotence of the Malaysian justice system to not only deliver but also seen to be delivering is frightening and the lesson seems to be don’t mess around with UMNO.
What a state of affairs!!!- roll on Pakatan.

    Hi Susan,

I am an occasional visitor to you blog and noted your perserverance on Altantuya’s case.

I wonder whether the French Liberation correspondent Arnaud Dubus has visited the French club which was highlighted as the place where Najib dined with Abdul Razak and the deceased?

Hopefully there may be a trace of evidence there?

    Regards,

    Patrick

Altantuyaa will be forever be remembered by most malaysian. All those bunch of UMNO, MCA, MIC are useless leader, can’t bring constructive ideas to improve our country. Malaysian Ringgit had never being depreciated before this against the Bath…now what happen…lama duit kita jadi macam peso pula…

Yes! We’ll donate to the Altantuya Foundation on foreign soil for the women who was killed on Malaysian soil, well done foreigners! It shows that foreigners have more compassion than we Malaysians who have murderers for leaders.

Did they lift a single finger to help the family of Altantuya?
Altantuya is Amina , means shes a Muslim.Or rather was a Muslim.
Anyone from jawi/jakun/jakim/jambam helping her family?
Salute to Monsieur Dubus for his initiatives.
Please hunt for the photos and CCTV clips of najis amd Lostma together with the late Altantuya.
We have to sent her killers to hell.

( this is the same comment i left in MalaysiaToday. )

  25. Susan, any way that u can publish bank account number, account name and swift code for international transfer for the Altantuya Foundation?

  26. Absolutely agree: Najib will destroy Malaysia!!

  27. Edith says:

A Thousand THANK YOU to Susan and Arnaud Dubus for all your compassion and hardwork, really appreciate that. Pls give us the detail for the donation so that each and every malaysian could participate in this, to show that we have a HEART and we want JUSTICE for Altantuya.

  28. cinapek says:

I wonder if the foundation can go one step further and finance international investigations into the murder. Some suggestions :

    – To locate the “photo” purportedly linking the Malaysian VVIP to Altantuya (everyone leaves digital fingerprints – our job is to find it).
    – To locate PI Bala and convince him to come clean.
    – To publicize the case and offer reward for information leading to the apprehension of the murderer.
    – To lobby the French government/opposition to look into the dealings of DCNS – the French company whose arms deals are in question.

  29. Edi神 says:

    this is bad for msia…

    once najib become no1…

  30. cinapek says:

quote : as well as bigger ones, but not too big please…

    ================

Why in the world not? Haven’t you considered that there are many, many influential and wealthy Malaysians who would be willing to contribute money to such a cause? If the foundation would consider my suggestions above, I am sure many would reach deep into their personal and corporate pockets. There are milliions who feel Malaysia will descend into the depths of despair given the huge amount of baggage and skeletons the incoming PM brings with him.

Might I suggest you set up a website as well as a website for the foundation?

  31. sarawakhornbill says:

And where is the US$500,000 commission she was supposed to receive? She paid for her life so the least they should do is to return the money to her foundation to help her loved ones. Otherwise, her spirit will not rest in peace and will haunt those who done her in.

How did he cough up the money to attend the trials. Also the cousins of Altantuya who were also present.
They looked rich from the way they dressed and carry themselves.
Wonder if Halimah, a farmer’s daugthter from Yala got murdered in similar fashion will be given such atttention in Bangkok.
Amd whether Susan will write reams and reams about her and implicate our leader.
And in the process provoke some of her worshippers in this forum.
Susan, how aboit starting the donation drive in Malaysia.?

This has to be a HOAX. Dr.Shaaribuu Setev is a 60 yr old having 2 jobs? Puhhhleeze…. Mr.Arnaud Dubus himself reported the father as a “…professor of psychology at the National University of Mongolia.”.

Does this sound like someone who has NO MONEY to even buy clothes?

    @SUSAN

I’ve been a faithful reader of your blog, but this has to be the last straw, especially after the ‘Help the begging Jed Yoong post’, again another post by you seeking donations for suspicious organizations/individuals. If this is genuine, there would at least be a website for the ‘foundation’. Are you getting commissions for all these work?

I hope you will prove me wrong on this matter, but seems unlikely.

    @Readers

Pls be careful with how you spend your money. Scammers are EVERYWHERE.

    Dear HOAX,
you have your right not to donate. At the same time let me tell you a true story. A friend of mine has an uncle from China teaching in a Uni somewhere in China (Cannot reveal where as to protect his uncle) as a PROFESSOR and earning a take home pay of RM 175 a month . YES that is One hundred and seventy five ringgit malaysia after converting from China Renminbi. His uncle live in a small one room flat with one daughter and homemaker wife.

Please ……if you think what is posted here are HOAX, you are insulting not only the blog owner but all of us here.
Another thing, don’t forget to wipe clean your salivas when you leave this blog.It is not only messing up this blog, it stinks!

BTW …You should end your comment like this …

    “@Readers
Pls be careful with how YOU READ THIS COMMENT. MORONS LIKE ME are EVERYWHERE.”

Firstly, HOAX, no one compelled you to read Susan’s Blog. So your faithfully reading her stuffs and commentaries(or not) is irrelevant.

Secondly, if you don’t like or agree with Jed, then don’t donate. Why smear Susan for helping out a fellow blogger, as well?

Thirdly, what makes you assume that Susan is that hard-up for money(aka commission, in your driveling). Is there any ads in her blog suggesting that she even want to make some petty cash?

Bamboo river is correct about your sweeping presumption unsubstantiated by facts or logic. You merely are commenting with ill intent, pretending astuteness where none exists.

And you have that shitty audacity to claim to be right!

  36. Hoax says:

    @bamboo river

You are entitled to your say, and so am I. I will not believe this until i see solid proof from the blogger. You’ve got to take responsibility from your writings and thats all i’m asking from Susan. Her ‘good intentions’ caused a stir before, and i’m just asking other readers to take caution as their money could land in wrong hands. I had already quoted proof that the information shown here in and Mr. Arnaud’s report seem to contradict with each other. Just because your friend’s uncle is as poor as a church mice does not mean every tom, dick and harry is like him.

You are a NOBODY to shut me from alerting others about the possibility of a scam. The fact you came up with that sort of reply shows how desperate you are to shut me off and make a devil out of me just to help your aide earn some bloody money for something that possibly does not exist.

Any chance of also setting up myspace / facebook whatever (I don’t use social networking sites!) groups to try to fill in some of the gaps in knowledge of Altantuya’s last few months? I feel as though the Justice train is pulling out of the station…

As Patrick comments above, all you need is a few people to ‘wander by’, realise they were in similar places at similar times, and to dig out their old photos. Not CCTV, Open Social TV! Anybody?

  41. bamboo river© says:

    HOAX,
How sure are you that Mr Shaaribuu is ‘doing well’ in Mongolia?
Have you met and spoke to him in person?
Have you met Arnaud and comfirmed what he reported?
Did you check if the Foundation is genuine?

Since you had ‘quoted proof’ that Arnaud contradicted in his report, tell us which part and substantiate with your details. Don’t just quote.
If everyone can just make a ‘quoted proof’ , we don’t need lawyers and judges!

Making a devil out of you is the last thing that I need to do. Didn’t you read my last para. I said you are a moron.

Quoting Witso – ” You merely are commenting with ill intent, pretending astuteness where none exists.”

    That sums up your logics!

we should stop mud-slinging at each other…the more agressive bloggers please restrain… if one cannot say anything decent..then do not say at all and leave each reader to think for themselves…to agree or disagree with susan…we are all here to givev our 2 cents worth but not to criticize anyone personally…To each his/her own remember…
If you want to support, go ahead, if not, just give your opinion and back off…
what I would like to see more than anything else is “justice for this tuya girl”..the crime is beyond description…we should press for justice. it is more worthy than money donated…we want the truth!!! the culprits must pay for their crime(s)…

  44. OrangRojak says:

Edward is right – Malaysian society has for two long been organised into antagonistic coq-waving camps. It would be yet another tragedy to turn this blog into one of those sycophantic online travesties where only a single point of view is expressed in the comments.

‘Hoax’ has a reasonable point of view, like it or not. Emotion can cloud judgement. If you’re determined to financially assist Altantuya’s father, it would only be prudent to check that your money is going where you want it to. Remember the ‘assistance’ offered by the ‘Honorary Mongolian Consul’?

I can only find a Thai private sector email address for the Mongolian Embassy. Are the Mongolian Government really that skint or poorly organised?

  45. wits0 says:

OrangRojak, of course HOAX suggested a probability but he shouldn’t have pushed it without providing evidence and he also did a smearing on the blog owner. Was that called for? I think that’s clearly unreasonable. What would have been reasonable is to advise caution pending confirmation.

  46. OrangRojak says:

“pushed it without providing evidence and … smearing”
Where got a Malaysian political blog that could survive under those restrictions! I imagine the blog owner probably has broad enough shoulders to survive a little smearing from time to time 😀

  47. bamboo river© says:

If a person with good intention to forewarn potential donors of scams in the net with a decent comment without any prejudice to any charity organisers . By all means, please go ahead.
But to spike your ‘good intention’ with accusations without proof and insulting the inteligence of the good people here, then I have to speak up .

Edward , mudslinging is the norm in the net. It depends if you want to stand still to be smudged or otherwise.

Orangrojak, my emotion is well controlled, it is the misjudgement of a person putting such irresponsible comment in this blog that is clouding the good intentions of Susan to help Mr Shaaribuu.

Go to MT and you all will find the details . Don’t expect Susan to do everything for you.

  48. caravanserai says:

    Donation is a personal endeavor
You have your choice and the mind to think
    Don’t think of ulterior motive
Why certain foundations are set up?
    Why certain individuals need help?

    Of course we know
There are scums milking the preys
Believing something giving wealth and healing illnesses
It is the donors greed in exchanging for something else

We read many sad cases of people
Losing money for greed and wealth
    Educated and illiterate ones
So we must be careful so must know

    But the case of Atlantuya
It is well established in our minds
Her father has to suffer his loss
Hoping for justice to be done

Yet the long dark journey continues
He has no way to push for himself
A person can do that much
Later he needs help to ride the justice
    For it surely needs funding

    Giving it freely
    Without any rewards
    You will get your dues
When it has arrived for you

  49. wits0 says:

“I imagine the blog owner probably has broad enough shoulders to survive a little smearing from time to time 😀 ”

Hahaha! But I think that is without question so but the thing is, if he cannot stand the heat, what’s he doing in the kitchen? Susan has the staidness and has placed no (suggested) restriction here but this does not mean we must also always spare the oversized ravers the rod.

The Net is a hazardous place and it’s not a one way street in giving and not taking. Remember the tag line in Andromeda, “The Universe is a dangerous place.” ?

  50. kittykat46 says:

    Hoax,

Yes, I can believe that Mr. Setev is struggling financially.

Even in many developed countries, academics, even professors in government universities aren’t particularly well paid. Most of their job satisfaction is derived from pursuing their love of knowledge, research, teaching the next generation, NOT money.

As you may expect, the top academic prima donnas in the US Ivy League universities aren’t paid according to government service grades.
