After the shameful let down of BN’s “Janji di Tepati” for a Merdeka slogan, now we have “One Nation,One Country, One Soul” by Pakatan Rakyat. I have only this to say:

While I do appreciate their intentions to unite all of us…

Why must everything and everybody be “ONE”? Why can’t we celebrate diversity and all our differences but be united in love and fight for justice, and against corruption? These ‘Satu’ theme has made me sick. I don’t want to be one with everyone. I want to be myself, but with my oneness to live and love and work together with the other for what is good and right. Many paths, one God, remember?

Every time you say “Lets be One”, I feel alone. Your oneness will undermine my uniqueness. I want my individuality to be recognised, our diversity celebrated; our differences accepted and respected, not just tolerated. When the day comes, I will celebrate Merdeka.

We are going through difficult times due to the fact that we have lost our true identity as a family united as one. The one and only true slogan for us to live by is the original, “Unity is Strength” and no other. The present regime has lost their bearings and completely out of focus with modern Malaysia.

I’m also very pissed off with this “ONE” theme! It’s unreal, overly simplistic and unnecessary. In NATURE, uniformity in details and thoughts are unattainable. These go against the very grains. People can share an universally viable and amicable outlook without any need pushing for any external uniformity. Only weak and insecured people would seek any cure which can readily turn into a poison serving CONFORMITY. Hasn’t 55 muddling, surreal and regressive years taught us anything at?!!

Get a live and grow some depth and wisdom!

Every time officialdom has called for “unity” for the past 55 years, it has done so with the WRONG SPIRIT and FOR the WRONG PURPOSE – that of furthering HEGEMONY and SUBMISSION within Ketuanan Melayu! It has been a tainted call for impossible CONFORMITY!! One would have thought that if a new and better M’sia is envisaged. even tainted key words should be best avoided. Words that too easily carry and hide the paucity of personal integrity.

The 1 looks like a middle finger. Najis has been showing us his middle finger from the day he took office. This is the kind of “respect” he has for us. This explains his obsession with the number 1.

Susan was correct from way back: “INTEGRITY ABOVE UNITY”!
55 years should have made that very clear. Unity for strength but to what worthwhile ends? 55 years of abused power for a few! 55 years of being made roundedly backward within a hoodwinked state!

  6. Tony Eu says:

Let us reciprocate and give him our middle finger come GE13. Dare him to dissolve
parliament asap. He will have our answer then.

I have to agree with you, we definitely suffer from overdosed of this 1 Malaysia thing!

    Unite against who?

We all know that Umno’s unity call was and has never been never inclusive. What unity is PR calling for?

Do we need to mollycoddle a paranoia?

If you cannot understand the Diversity of and in Nature. your Ethos is a backward and cloddish One indeed!

Not wrong for Nizar to demean the UMNO goons on their idiotic interpretations of the silly theme song used to celebrate this yr’s merdeka day.
He is nationalistic & patriotic, compared to UMNO idiots.
