So Najib Razak’s government has dismiss its envoy to the United Nation’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors for voting against a censure resolution against Iran.

Parti Rakyat Keadilan thinks that this decision is clearly a result of pressure applied on Malaysia by the US government as it steps up its efforts to isolate both politically and through economic sanction.

What do you think?

“The removal of veteran diplomat Ambassador Mohd Arshad Manzoor Hussain for voting alongside Cuba and Venezuela is particularly unfortunate as the latter has enjoyed a long and distinguished career and has privately maintained that he believed he was voting in accordance with the established principles of the Non-Aligned Movement of which Malaysia is a committed member,” said Latheefa Koya, PKR’s information chief, in a press statement yesterday.

“The dismissal is unprecedented and sent a signal to the international that Malaysia has compromised our diplomatic independence. We call on PM Najib Razak to make a public stand whether Malaysia has abandoned our non-aligned principle and submit our national sovereignty to the wills of world superpowers,” she added.

Honestly, i don’t see what all this ruckus is about.
The idiot ‘veteran diplomat’ should have been sacked, pronto!
Malaysia as part of ASEAN is already a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and also subcribes to the priciple of ZOPFAN (which seems to have been conveniently forgotten whenever USS Nimitz etc visit).

Ideally, Malaysia should have abstained from the vote. But then, you have this so-called diplomat clown who is so enamored with Castro and Chavez, although i don’t see why – maybe he’s a pocket anarchist. I truly wonder whether he was just following ‘advice’ from our Ayatollah Anifah or others, and when the whole thing blew up in their faces, they as usual, looked for a scapegoat. Wisma Putra is at its lowest ebb… Our Raba-raba US ambassador is a case to point.

While PKR, wants to play-ply with this, a word of caution – we are already “cukup pariah” in the eyes of the international community. FDIs elek poek, and our influence and goodwill vis-a vis the global community of nations is zilch. I suggest Lateefa stop barking at the wrong pokok, lest it tumbang and drop on our heads.

  2. wits0 says:

I fully agree with menyalak-er. PKR and Lateefa is making a mountain out of a molehill on this matter – something that is rather trivial since M’sia has, all along, no worthy foreign policy to shout about.

I can understand that Lateefa is decrying M’sia’s lack of independence but supposing that the US somehow managed to make ASEAN condemn Myanmar’s regime and free Aung San Suu Kyi, e.g., would that be a good thing or bad? Don’t dream though.

Plenty of Human Rights abuses have been hidden behind the facade of this roguish “sovereinty and integrity” mantra used to support tyranny.

  13. It is about time that Malay Malaysians start to realise that they are not Arabs.
In recent times, just because they think they are rich, the Malays are doing everything they can to make themselves look Arabs. Given half a chance pariah, racist and shenanigan Mahathir would like to be called an Arab too ! To be seen he is close to them he takes alms to the Palestine but why not to Bangladash or Mayanmar ? They too need help too and perhaps more than the Palestine !
Ignoring the facts that the bulk of the Arabs are still very very poor, like me, go there and see how poor the bulk of them are. Only a handful, who has anything to do with the black gold are filthy rich and throw themselves around and showing their wealth to the world. How come Bill Gates doesn’t do that and he is the richest man around ?
Just remember Malaysia is far away from Arabia Malaysia is in South East Asia and except for the religion the Malays are not in any shapes or forms Arabs. So stop kissing their asses. Start to read more of what the Arab has to think about Malaysia and you might have second thought about trying to be Arabs. Soon when their black gold runs out you will then want to have nothing to do with them !

In 2003 or thereabouts, Anuar Shaari, Ezam Mohd Nor, and two other people who have all since left the opposition, made a trip to the United States. I did not know about it until I received a phone call from a contact in the US. He wanted me to verify who these four people are and whether it is true that they work for the Free Anwar Campaign……

“Okay,” my US contact told me. “Then we will help arrange something for them. Ten or twenty million Ringgit is no problem for us. We can handle that.”

That was just before the March 2004 general election. But the tens of millions of election funds were not sent to Malaysia. Instead, it was channelled to Hong Kong. And the March 2004 general election came before the money could be diverted from Hong Kong to Malaysia. And we never heard of the money again. Soon after that Ezam and his gang, which included Anuar Shaari, left the opposition and joined Umno. Some left just before the 2004 general election.

  57. hamid says:

I found out later from a very senior party leader that the money came from George Soros (see more here: The four in fact personally met Soros in his office. And I was even told who had arranged for the meeting and subsequent funding.

    “Yes, I know,” I replied.

“Did they give you anything?” Pawanchik asked me.

“No, not a sen,” I replied.

“I thought so,” said Pawanchik. “I heard they are using your name to collect millions and that they did not give you anything. Why don’t you close down the Free Anwar Campaign? If not these people will use it to collect money.”

PETALING JAYA: Those who have discoloured banknotes can exchange them at Bank Negara or its branches.

The central bank, in a statement yesterday, reassured the people that only durable paper for the new RM50 notes were used to protect them from being soiled and to ensure that they lasted longer.

“The incidents of ink wear due to washing with strong detergent are a rare occurrence,” it said.

“Even under such conditions, distinguishing security features such as the watermark, security thread and security fibres in the paper remain intact to determine the authenticity of the banknote,” it added.

There should be no discoloration. Simple. There should be NO rare occurrences unless it is Zimbabwe ringgits.

  63. tembolok says:

Meanwhile, more people have complained about the new RM50 notes “losing colour”.

Norhayana Saini, from Putrajaya, said she found a new RM50 “bleached” after it was accidentally washed with her laundry.

“The funny thing is that, the RM5 note left in the wash was not damaged at all,” she said.

Joanna Lee, 31, said she had retrieved a “washed-out” RM50 note from a bank’s ATM recently.

“It was already discoloured. I didn’t have time to run to the bank to clarify this issue, thinking that it was a one-off matter, until I read the report in The Star,” said Lee.

She added that when she tried to deposit the note into the bank’s ATM, it was rejected.

Lee said a foodstall owner later accepted the note from her.

On Monday, mechanical engineer Yeoh Jit Shiong, 25, reported that the print had disappeared from a few of the new RM50 notes he had mistakenly left in his washing machine along with his laundry.

It is an accepted norm in life and international relations that when you are unable to govern yourself others will interfere in your affairs. At a personal level even your driver will try to help you. In the case in point the Non-Aligned Movement argument does not hold. In NAM there are members who are on the right, the center and members who are on the left.At best our stand and voting pattern in NAM could be described as slighty left of center. By by voting on the side of Venezuela and Cuba, who are by-and-large regarded as being on the left of the NAM equation, tells a different story. I find it hard to believe a seasoned diplomat will take such a radical vote without expressed directions from Wiamaputra. The issue here is not the vote itself. We have to try and find out if the established processes were followed in arriving at the instructions that were sent to the Ambassador.

Even if we asume that the decision was to vote with Venezuela and Cuba, there must have been sufficient time for further consultations, any seasoned diplomat worth his salt would have immediately cabled Wismaputra to inform of the consequences of such a vote. In those circumstances Wismaputra will usually reply to say that we leave it to your discretion to vote in a manner that will reflect our overall foreign policy. In this regard, how our friends in ASEAN vote and our national interest would be a clear guiding factor. Clearly, whether Iran has nuclear weaponds or not does not in any undermine our natioanl interest

This vote cannot be dismissed as a storm in a tea cup because it affects the brand name of Malaysia. In international relations we a judged by the company we keep and this is always paramount in the mind of any Ambassador when he is in the frontline representing his country.

Now that the Ambassador has not had his contract renewed, perhaps he should throw some light on the matter.

He should be interrogated by Military Intelligence and Bukit Aman. He could have been acting “independant” like Zahrain, and getting money and women from Iran. Only possibility is that.
Interrogation is necessary to find out what else he had done.

PKR leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin has accused Prime Minister Najib Razak of abuse of power by instigating the police to raid his parents’ house in Seremban with the aim of confiscating sets of books and videotapes on the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case.

According to Badrul, popularly known as Chegubard, two police cars swooped down at his family home earlier this week, creating unnecessary noise and attention in a bid to embarrass them in front of their neighbours.

“But strangely the police didn’t have any warrant – the document they needed to have the most,” Chegubard told Harakahdaily.

“Where is their respect for proper procedure and civilian rights? They also threatened to return with a warrant after my parents refused to entertain them.”

Koh: Let’s transform government with the tiger’s tenacity

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said today the government machinery will work “as tenacious as a tiger” in implementing the Government Transformation Programme (GTP).

“We will work as tenacious as a tiger, but minus the ferocity of a tiger,” the Gerakan president told reporters at the party’s Chinese New Year open house at Menara PGRM in Cheras here today.

“I pray that the Year of the Tiger will give us the strength, resilience and bravery of a tiger in pursuing the GTP mooted by the Prime Minister,” he said.

Among those who attended the open house were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Koh also hoped that the country would continue to be peaceful and prosperous in the Year of the Tiger.

That is what he thinks. He is not a clever Chinese. Why? because……the
    Tiger is after the Snake.!!!!

  117. limjitkit says:

Either way, the year of the Tiger, according to Chinese soothsayers, does not augur well for the premier, who was born on July 23, 1953, the year of the snake. Astrologers say the Snake and the Tiger aren’t pals. For the snake the “DNA for 2010 is poor people relations, poor health and poor luck.” The Tiger of 2010 is “the year to trigger any possible unfortunate event.”

Well, it’s been only 36 days since 2010 began and the Tiger has, thus far, been crouched in position to pounce in on Feb 14.

As far as perception goes, Najib’s has lost the war. Go and do an independent survey if you wish. Just poll Malaysians at random and the majority would tell you that they believe Najib either knew Altantuya, had [relations] with her, or is directly or indirectly involved in her murder.

In the perception war Najib has been defeated. And there is nothing he can do or say to restore his fallen image.

Okay, next target is Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor. In the sphere of perception, Rosmah is seen a [female dog]. However, ironically enough, this is her own doing rather than because the opposition attacked her.

There are so many stories floating around about her. One story concerns four retired generals going to her house to meet Najib. She came out and asked them whether they want to meet Najib about politics or business. They asked what difference would it make and she replied that if they want to meet Najib about politics then he will be out in a short while but if it is about business then they are to talk to her and not to Najib.

This story is well known amongst the military personnel.

Banner with Najib portrait removed in Klang

PORT KLANG: A cloth banner with the portrait of Najib Tun Razak, put up to welcome him for Chinese New Year celebrations, was taken down by the local council staff and this has angered those who put it up.

The celebration is set to be held at Jalan Chan Ah Choo in Pandamaran and the banner was put up by restaurateurs and traders who also had buntings close to their premises.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) staff removed the banners and buntings around the township, meant to welcome Najib, without notice.

Pandamaran Jalan Chan Ah Choo ad-hoc committee representative Yee Kok Hong, 61, said the Najib banner at the Simpang Lima roundabout was removed at 1.30am on Sunday.

He said he was puzzled at the removal as it had no political slogans.

On Thursday, the Najib banner 40ft wide and 32ft in length, was put as the Chinese people in the Pandamaran New Village had invited him to the event.

“He is the Prime Minister. It is only right to put up the simple banner to welcome our special guest,” he said.

“Our traders are not into politics, we see Najib’s visit as a boost for our business. We think his visit will put our new village on the map and help attract tourists,” said the coffee shop owner.

State exco for local government Ronnie Liu said the removal of the banner with Najib’s portrait had to be done as there was no permit approval from the local council.

Even banners or buntings put up by the Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim or Najib in Selangor need a permit, he said.

Why no police/MACC report against Zahrain?

Previously, I saw on TV3 where Zahrain says that he is not living in Penang and has no interest in the company that offered the services to manage the BJGC. He claims that he does not need the business of GJGC because he lives in KL and has made his money. Last night via his own admission, he acknowledged that he was only the chairman of the RM2 company that is bidding to manage the club does not own shares in that company. My question is simple, why do you need to be a chairman in this RM2 Company if you have no shares in it? What is the relationship between him and the RM2 company shareholders? Are they, his proxies?
