(Update 17/9) – The 15 arrested have been released on bail of RM3,000 each. The police made a lot of money today! The 15 have to be back in court on 29 September.

This URGENT ALERT is from Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS). Time and again it’s proven that 1Malaysia is just a sham. It ought to be NONEMalaysian.

It’s also a shame because yesterday was Malaysia Day – the day we came together as one – Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak. At least give the Indigenous some RESPECT. But RESPECT is not a norm in 1Malaysia.

Please do the needful, my friends, and show our sisters and brothers in Sarawak that we are anak bangsa Malaysia.

Dear Friends,

As Malaysia commemorates its 46th anniversary, 15 indigenous Sarawakians have been detained by Kuching police at 2:45 today for trying to send a memorandum of protest to the Sarawak Chief Minister.

Among those arrested are Mark Bujang (BRIMAS), Raymond Abin (BRIMAS) and Hellan Empaing (WADESA), all leaders of the Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (Indigenous Peoples Network of Malaysia) as well as representatives from the Kayan, Kenyah and Penan communities of Sarawak.

The contingent, consisting of 6 Penan, 4 Iban, 2 Kayan and 3 Kenyah are all representatives of communities who will be affected by two major dams which are being built in their areas.

They had prepared a memorandum on the issue and were delivering it to Wisma Bapa Malaysia, the office of the Chief Minister.

While waiting for endorsement of the document, they were arrested by local police. They are currently being held in the Kampung Gita Police Station in Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak. It is uncertain whether they are being charged, or what reasons are being given for their detention.

Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia strongly condemns the detention of its members who were attempting to deliver a memorandum on behalf of the indigenous peoples of the Baram and Murum areas of Sarawak. The memorandum protested the State Government’s actions to build hydro electric dams in these areas without the free, prior and informed consent of the communities affected and without due regards to the status of the native lands involved. The actions of the State Government are in clear contradiction to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which Malaysia strongly supports.

We also condemn the use of arrest to intimidate and silence the voices of the communities who are questioning the construction of large dams on the area. This demonstrates the unwillingness of the State Government to ensure the full and effective participation of indigenous peoples in projects that affect them.

We call upon the Sarawak State Government to immediately release all fifteen Sarawakians and engage in a proper consultative process with the affected communities. We also call for the respect of the constitutional native land rights of these communities. It is also in violation of the right to peaceful assembly, guaranteed under Article 10 of the Federal Constitution.

Take action:

1. URGENT: Please phone the Gita police station and ask after the well-being of the activists, ask what they are being charged with and demand their unconditional release in line with Constitutional guarantees of freedom of assembly (Article 10). Tel: ++6 082-254417

This is already out in Reuters and other int. media. The international community will be as outraged, as all true Malaysian patriots. Carpetbaggers, rich and powerful vs. the puny downtrodden, david vs. goliath and all that – showing live now.

Not only have they destroyed the means of life for our fellow Malaysians, they have the audacity to arrest them for ‘trying’ to hand over a memo to that cut-throat, misnomer of a CM?
The mongrels have also destroyed the barricades put by the Penans. As if it can’t be rebuilt?

The Raja Taihs never even offered them an alternative! Humanity has deserted them – rapine, outright robbery, pure terrorism and predation seems to be true to their form!

To the EU and all interested parties – stop purchasing Malaysian timber culled from Sarawak! This will be more effective than the many who will try the above suggestion of contacting the abusive parties. It is futile, as the they are deaf, blind and unfeeling for the ordinary people. We are not rakyat – we are dispensible easily manipulated toys, bought out every 5 years….

Meanwhile the hm idiots are so proud of handing out 92 citizenships, which should have been done decades ago. Kg. BP is a real miniscule palat compared to this outrage! Shame!!

You cannot solve things with UMNO through writing letters.

It must be trough streets protests and demonstrations….and if you have the patience…..write your “X” against UMNO and BN in 13th GE.

This is all Mahakutty’s fault. If Mahakutty had been using all these projects to make huge fortunes with impunity, surely all others in 1BodohMalaysia will follow suit.

Hey! Look at the wood, not the indigenous people.

That’s what politicians are all about.

They are mother nature’s worst enemy.

  6. justland says:

All these greedy politicians will reap the natural resources to the hilt while still in power.

Their job is not to take care of the people but to ‘take care’ of the forests.

Clear all these avaricious politicians from their power of greed before they clear all the jungles still left in Bolehland.

Send them all to jail- they belong there.

  7. benjamin says:

Majorities of Sarawakian and Sabahan are the ones who gave the thumb up for BN to rule, in the previous GE.
If not for them, BN will no longer be in power by now.
    They just asked for it!!!

The federal government is not agreeable to the suggestion by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Sept 16 be made a public holiday in the five states under Pakatan Rakyat. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said there should only be one National Day for the country.

“We have chosen the date as our independence day. Having another date will give rise to all kinds of interpretation, polemic and this is not healthy to national integration. “This is our stand; we give importance to unity and national integration,” he told reporters here today.

Malaysia celebrates its National Day on Aug 31 every year.

Anwar had suggested that Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan — all of which are under Pakatan Rakyat — declare Sept 16 each year as a public holiday to commemorate the formation of Malaysia. Penang and Kelantan had accepted the proposal while the three other states were still considering it. Another year has gone by and we Malaysians are still stuck in this polemic of which date is more important to us. Let me put things into perspective.

The US, a country where Anwar is closely affiliated to, had made 4th of July every year to unite the people in celebrating its independence. Many did not know that on the 4th of July 1796, only 13 states of the former American colony gained independence. The last state, Hawaii, became the 50th state in the US after it joined them on 21st August, 1959.

But did they celebrate their independence day on 21st August every year? No. If they did, that means, the US is only 50 years old and even younger than Malaysia. Some say it is more appropriate to put more importance to 16th September as it is more relevant to the nation’s formation as a whole. I tend to disagree.

Independence Day is to commemorate the day all of us achieved freedom from our colonial masters. And it is not only the feeling of freedom from the British rule. It also encompassed the sense of liberation from all the centuries of being ruled under the Portuguese and the Dutch as well.

Finally, on that day, we could chart our own future, instead of being told what to do from the powers in Lisbon, Amsterdam and finally, in London. If not for the endless sacrifices made by the people who fought for our freedom, our independence might come much, much later. Perhaps in 1984, like Brunei’s.

You can also ask any Americans why they lay greater importance to 4th of July instead of 21st August and the answer would be along the line of the things I stated above. To lay greater importance to 16th September over 31st August would greatly diminish the value of work, time and struggle that our forefathers had invested in.

Does Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat prepare to lose that? Is he willing to steal the original Independence Day from the country? To make matters worse, they had cleverly disguised this into 1Malaysia concept. Truth be told, integration can only be felt when there is ONE interpretation of what and when is our Independence Day.

This act of thievery which is aimed only to increase confusion and friction among the people towards their own history.

And please bear in mind (and this is super important), without 31st August 1957, there can never be 16th September 1963. Without the gruelling hardship and sacrifices of the people in the past to ensure independence in 1957, there can never be Malaysia as it was in 1963. This is the lesson that needs to be told to the younger generation. A lesson which the despicable opposition and all its portals like Malaysian Insider, Malaysian Today and Malaysia Kini trying hard not to extol to our younger generation.

To them, whatever the forefathers had achieved back then should just be thrown to the dustbin.

We can go to any pro opposition blog’s and see the stark difference in how they wish their 31st August. Most of them chose to write condescending articles and criticism about the fate of Malaysia on its 52nd birthday. Can you find any of the pro opposition blog’s with articles that have anything good to say about Malaysia on that day? Besides the usual government bashing and how shitty the conditions of their livelihood were, is there anything patriotic we can take away from? Do you love your country more after reading their articles? Or do you resent your country even more? Is the correct patriotic attitude being promoted by those blog’s?

I have no qualms if people want to celebrate 16th September as Malaysia Day but to make it even grander than 31st August or to disown 31st August completely and make it an orphan is simply an act of treason in my books. Please look at how the US citizens celebrate their Independence Day. They are united in their pride for the country regardless how despicable they find their leaders.

Hawaiians, Californians, Texans, New Yorkers etc all see 4th of July as the birth of their country. 50 states come together to celebrate ONE DATE as the uniting factor in the spirit of their patriotism. We only have 13 states and still being thrown into disunity just because a few opposition leaders want to gain some political mileage? The opposition needs to be responsible in what they are promoting. You will reap what you sow in the future and it may not be to your liking.

jebatmust die is another melayu haprak. Y should August 31st be malaysia day. It is malaya day not malaysia day. If the BN melayus want to use US as a e.g. and not use Sept 16, then they can use my grandfather`s b`day as Malaysia Day also. BUT never Aug 31. Aug 31 is to deny Sabah and Sarawak, which is why I support the independance of the 2 states.
Jebat can also go and live in Hawaii and celebrate July 4, no one is stopping him. Malays have to stop cheating and learn to live EQUALLY.

Seldom does one hear anything coming out of the mouth of an MIC patsy that happens to make sense. But every now and then, you get a gem. I find it puzzling indeed that the slipper spat has boomeranged to hit M. Sukumaran in the face instead.

We all know that Sukumaran’s apology has been prompted by the political pressure from the Mukhriz and Umno bandwagon and to me, this is but another episode that illustrates exactly how impotent the MIC truly is.

  17. Menyalak-er says:

Dear puzzled, there has and never will be 1Malaysia under this regieme. We want an accountable, noncorrupitble, transparent and a caring leadership who fights for the rights of the poor, weak and marginalised while upholding justice and righteousness. This is not want we have not been getting for the past 30+ years.

Whenever the ruling authorities fail to ‘touch base’ oe ‘earth’ themselves with the ground and go back to thre roots of their power, they become expendable. By hypocrisy – in ideology, speech and action, they have proven to be the feudal-fascist, religio-ethnocentric excuse for humanity and spamming.

Just a small divergence – what do you think if only 10% of the money that will be spent on the so-called 1Malaysia F1 2010 racing team be spent on rehabilitation of these displaced Penans and Kenyahs? Another 70% to build more schools, clinics and basic infrastructure in the inteior of Sarawak and the last 30% to subsidize the people who had suffered tremendously after buying Potongs?

They practice all that with so clear cheating…with unbelievable high prices of all items accepted and approved…..making a project worth RM1 million….to be RM5 million.
All these have been proven….yet no ACA ever check all that.
Now comes…MACC…”forget the past” advise…and what are the results?
Let me put it this way….with this famous quotation.
UMNO can fool some people…..some time….some people..all the time…but not all the people all the time.
Kancillandak is a tape recorder…not brain…just keep blaring out…pro UMNO stuffs…..yet he said he does not belong to any party.
If so…he is a clear racialist and have no balls to change for the better.
Without UMNO…Kancilandak…needs to sell goring pisang at the street…..very terrible hard life…..so shout and talk like a drowning man catches straws….exactly like all BN guys are experiencing now.
If 1.4-C is a real fortune teller..he will come out and say….monsterball is right……but he forecast he will strike big with 4 digits…..all lost…..so planning t go somewhere…get lost….to avoid going home….no money to give parents and youngsters….so shameful…..cook up a story…with very busy assignments.
Now blaming Allah…”Why do you abandon me?”…never ever know the real truths.

  42. harrison says:

the sarawakians and sabahans are foolish and they deserved what – the result of a putrid Government and their subservient venal agencies.

The sarawakians esp. in rural areas would vote for BN with a mere RMxxx.00 selling their soul and most of all their stupidity whether of their naivety or knavery to know(or unknown) to them that they are living in longhouses/squatters/huts built on Government lands. Some are deprived of the basic necessities like electricity supply, tap-water and tarred roads.

The natives (the Ibans, Kadazans, Bidayuhs, Sakais, etc) are too busy “killing-off” one another. No, I am not making any sorts of racist comments. In fact, those words are WRIITEN and PUBLISHED by one of a prominent community leader of theirs. The writer even wrote when a fellow community “rises” in a Government position or successfully built their career, jealousy arises and others within their community would resort to black magic to inflict supernatural harm on their fellow race.

*Jeancumlately now has the wisdom of patience, she did not bark like before. Hapi raya, Jane. I mean jean…

That’s why I said, Hadi Awang was 100% correct in his statement of the mentality of Sarawakians. This is just like you can’t say that Tan Sri Vincent Tan is a corrupt man because you are afraid of being sued.
Only when their rights are “brutally raped” like the mentioned cases where, only then they would reprise lawfully and unlawfully. Why not do it in the ballot boxes?

    Dear Menyalak-er,
If 1Malaysia F1 2010 racing team investment of RM1 Billion, could generate prfit of RM3Billion like what Singapore gets, provide jobs formany and increase tourism traffic to Malaysia, we had met our objective. What is the chances (on a scale of 1 to 10)of 1Malaysia F1 2010 racing team getting the above? I not rate it 5 but negative 5 since we will be loosing money, tourism diverted to other neighbouring countries, and more jobs for foriegn cheap labor in Malaysian and not forgetting those Datuks will be filthy rich to retire.

  48. kittykat46 says:

To this day, I’m still scratching my head how the whole Formula 1 circus benefits the average Malaysian citizen.

Did they ever recoup the cost of building the Sepang circuit?
Don’t forget it costs a ton of money just to organise and host the event every year.
We get maybe a marginal increase in tourism, and maybe increased business for some nasi lemak sellers in Sepang. All that just to shout UMNOputras boleh ?

What is the overall profit and loss for the country ?
I suspect its heavily in the red. Just like the stupid Monsoon Cup…

Yeah, UMNO is just another 4-letter word….

  50. Menyalak-er says:

Yes, kk46, I’m as puzzled as you are – but i’m scratching my groin.
Nobody actually gets into F1 unless there is a ‘will to win’ – even Tony F. is saying he’s quitting as soon as the team has even been formed. Team Honda and BMW-Sauber also cannot tahan.
“Only fools venture into places the brave dare not go.”
This is their version of ‘trickle and tickle down economics’, being losers in all but gutter politics.

If you go to Paul Tan’s blogspot you’ll find >80% of motorheads disparaging the idea. Yes, they need to keep the Sepang Circuit open as it’s an enormous white elephant – maybe they can use it for daily mat rempit races and the puzzled chasing picos’ around the track! It could also be that bumno wanita/puteri want to be ‘groped’ groupies – yuck!

I suggest that our ‘home-grown’ F1 driver be that Malas-naught who remains the fastest ‘Malay’ on the planet, with mme Lumpiolus as the cheerleader! Can use the lubrication…

    Dear Friends,

Aiyo! The Port Klang Free Trade Zone fiasco just shows that the BN consists of a bunch of blatant crooks.

All these just to divert the attention of the Rakyats’ attention away from the more pressing issues.

All the blardy cr*oks are beyond redemption.

They are just a waste of earth’s nature resources.

Better mangpus early than to stay alive before they waste further earths’ dwindling natural resources.

  68. Yamashita says:

It is high time Sarawakians vote for change. The state BN government has manipulated and deceived them since Malaysia was formed. Time to vote for change; for justice, equality, fairness, and dignity.

    The police’s action was expected.
Any protest, assembly or demonstration directed at BN will be reciprocated with their battle cries: Surai! Surai! 1 2 3 Tangkap! Tangkap!

As the cow-head protest was directed at PR government, no shout of tangkap was heard.

  69. FenceSitter says:

Change in Swak? hahahaaaa it will be a long shot. As ppl here say all you need are coconuts and bottles. Put the coconut in their right hand and the bottle in their left. Then tell them to raise their right hand, then left hand and shout ” Ya, Betul”, “Ya, Betul”…

  70. monsterball says:

Most Sarawakians are bought up by UMNO…but can change for the better…as influential voters are mostly Chinese..
They are smart voters…and can think for the country and people.
Sabah is more difficult…as most are imported by UMNO..gave them citizenship…to vote for UMNO.
It is hoping they will wake up and know UMNO is evil…for most are more sincere in their religious beliefs…and therefore do have guilty conscience hitting them…to hurt Malaysians.
I am quite confident in coming 13th GE…Sabahans and Sarawakians…voters will think seriously for the country and people…be generous and will vote to change the government.

  71. monsterball says:

I forgot to say…Sabah consists of alot of imported Phillipinos and Indonesians.
However these two races are totally different than UMNO Malays.
They have a great choice now…and not be afraid of UMNO anymore.
The decades of UMNO’s ..divide and rule…help who that pleases them…have created unfair an unjust results…exactly like what we see in the mainland.
Crooked government can never be fair and just. It’s all side shows to fool Malaysians.

  72. a besieged citizen says:

I have a fear. I fear that the true Malaysians may be a minority in their own states of Sabah and Sarawak. What …. if one day all the illegal immigrants are given MyKad, then the genuine sons of these two states will … .

By then, we may hear 2Indonesias and 2Philippines.

  73. billauchris says:

The indigenious tribes of Malaysia are indeed the Bumiputras of Malaysia. They have been deprived of their inherent rights to land ownership, to education opportunities, to employment and to safe and healthy living and to proper health care etc. They are the most deprived and discriminated lot who often die unknown in the thick forest of Malaysia.

Capitalists intrude into and drive them out of their land, exploit them, rape their maidens and worse of all, fathering bastards and leave them to the care of their parents in the long-houses.
The productive result is the multi-coloured community!

When they protest and try to bring their problems to the authority they get arrested and then released on bail and be tried for illegal assembly subsequently, I believe.

The indigeneous people have suffered enough. Let us be more humane in treating them and exploiting them for their lack of knowledge and ignorance of laws in the country. Their lives are more govern by the natural law of the jungle rather than the created law of the land.

The department of aborigines should be abolished and dismantled. Or, they should be kicked in the butt for more productive and progressive work. Obviously, the department have failed the indigeneous people of Malaysia. Let modern facilities and amenities be made more readily available to them rather than relegating them to rot in the jungle.

  74. khy says:

they have every right to choose the right govnt. in the last election.nobody can help them but themselves in the next election, remember.

  75. puzzled says:

This is the same case between UMNO and the public again. The public is always on the losing side!

Theresa Kok… she was arrested under ISA for creating public disorder and problems. Her arrest obviously was linked to the recent residents petition in Puchong over an azan issue. Theresa however had denied any involvement in the issue. The mosque officials and residents themselves had denied the allegation and explained that the silent ‘azan’ was caused by faulty PA system and not because of pressure of non-Muslims. For record, this issue was started by UMNO Khir Toyo and a police report had been lodged against him for stirring up the azan issue. Interestingly, it can be deduced that the person who had started this trouble is none other than UMNO Khir Toyo himself but Theresa Kok is the one who had to pay the price in prison.

Next ShinChew journalist Tan Hoon Cheng case. She was arrested under ISA because… hold your breadth…. here life was threatened after she reported on Bukit Bendera Division UMNO Chairman Ahmad Ismail’s allegedly racist remarks. You see… UMNO Ahmad Ismail created the furore, got away with just a three-year-suspension from his party, escaped punishment from any law and poor Tan Hoon Cheng instead arrested under ISA for reporting the truth. Adding further, UMNO Najib was present with Ahmad when Ahmad made the allegedly racist remarks.

  76. Yamashita says:

What to say? UMNO here is the Big Brother. Whatever UMNO says is OK, but non-UMNOs better be careful of what you say. Need I say more?
