Umno worried by strong Malay participation in ISA protest, says PAS
    By Adib Zalkapli

KUALA LUMPUR, August 10 – PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar described recent attempts by Umno leaders to label Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as traitor to the Malay race show that the Malay nationalist party was frightened by the high number of Malays at the recent anti-ISA rally.

“They keep saying ‘the Malays have returned to Umno’ but, on August 1, they saw 95 per cent of the anti-ISA protesters were Malays,” said Mahfuz at a press conference here, quoting media reports on the protest which was held to pressure the government into abolishing the ISA.

“So they panicked and started accusing the Malays of being exploited by other parties,” he added.

Mahfuz also said that it is irresponsible of Utusan Malaysia to incite racial hatred through its various commentaries.

“I beg Umno to stop playing racial politics, this is unhealthy,” he said.

Mahfuz added that it is Umno that has failed to uphold the seven commandments of the Malay Rulers made before Merdeka in order to protect the interest of the community.

The Rulers’ message was highlighted by Raja Nazrin Shah last week in an attempt to show the importance of the monarchy.

Among the seven commandments are the position of Islam and the Malay language and the formation of the Malay Regiment.

“I thank Raja Nazrin for reminding us of the commandments, but let me say that Umno has violated all the commandments, what is left is the Malay Regiment,” said Mahfuz.

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Aug 2009: About 200 people from 70 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) gathered outside Menara Dato Onn here today, supporting Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement that labelled Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a traitor.

The Peninsula Malay Students Federation (GPMS) and Umno Youth carried banners displaying the words “Anwar a traitor”, before the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting was convened at the building.

Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil declared her support to the NGOs upon arrival for the meeting.

“As a representative of Wanita Umno, I support the deputy prime minister’s statement that Anwar is a leader who turned traitor, who cares only for his personal agenda, and we have to challenge Anwar’s leadership,” she said.

It always works on Religion and Race sentiments as the Last resort in Political survival anywhere.

But remember God is always the Top Priority. Dont give religion a bad name.

  10. kesava says:

“The sedition law is not only for Islam, but it is also for all religions and ethnic groups,” said Najib when asked to comment on remarks critical to Islam made by opposition leaders.

“If anyone is found to be causing racial tension, it can be investigated under the Sedition Act, action can be taken against anybody,” he added.

All this highlights is UMNO’s schizophrenic and chosen path to self-destruct. And looks to attack those it believes it can. It chose Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin’s website, http://www.malaysia-today.net. Several articles and discussions question the fundamental bases of Malaysia, the role of Islam, and other politically contentious issues that by law are declared seditious. One questioned the right of Muslims preachers to attack other religions in their Friday prayers. But instead of attacking him and his website openly, it uses newspapers and religious leaders to do the mudslinging.

Dato’ Seri Najib kicked the ball first to insist to insist none should openly debate if Muslims could slander the followers of other religions, and promised to investigate the site, “Malaysia Today”.

I’m against corruption BUT two frogs under investigation by MACC hopped over to BN to topple Perak State government is ok.

I’m for 1Malaysia BUT Utusan stirring up racial disharmony is ok.

  13. kesava says:

He said only if BN can prove to be a “viable alternative” to PR can the former realistically expect to win back the state.

“The opposition won (in Selangor) not because people like them, they won because people are fed up with the previous leadership of the BN government. They are actually BN supporters who are dissatisfied with the way they were running things,” he said.

“If BN can provide itself as an alternative for PR, BN can win (back Selangor),” added the former premier.

But judging from the strong criticism Mahathir has thrown against the Najib administration, it is unlikely that he believes the ruling coalition he once led is capable – in its present form – of becoming an alternative to PR.

  14. fknajib says:

Signs of irreparable cracks in the BN

Lack of political cohesion – even in the critical time after GE12, even after Najib has taken over as the saviour of BN – would mean that the BN is heading towards an inevitable and possibly permanent breakup. The cracks have become too obvious for even the BN-controlled MSM to hide.

The contradictory announcements we’ve been treated to thus far, taken together with the apparent in-fighting among and within the BN component parties AND the way that the once-very-powerful post of UMNO Youth leader now being almost completely ignored by the media – all point to the fact that the BN is finally imploding under the weight of its various components’ personal agendas.

Don’t believe, ah? Let’s take a very quick look at what’s happening with just ONE of the BN component parties – the MCA, the most senior and UMNO’s biggest partner.

SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — The Special Select Committee of Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) is set to hold a public inquiry into the use of state allocations by lawmakers in the former Barisan Nasional-led administration as well as the current Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Speaker Teng Chang Khim, who is also the chairman of Selangor government watchdog, said the public inquiry will be held between Aug 25 and Aug 29.

Officials from the various district offices in Selangor are expected to testify before the inquiry on state expenditure in each constituency by the previous and current administration.

The civil servants will have to explain how BN state lawmakers managed to spend RM500,000 each in the run-up to the March 8 general elections last year.

State allocations to each constituency is distributed by the district offices in the state.

“BN lawmakers spent their annual allocations in just over two months and we want to know how the public servant (in the district offices) could be so efficient,” said Teng.

Yet Najib said those that incite racial tension will be dealt with…..

After that, look into your own “backyard”….!

Phew! It’s very tiring reading Utusan Malaysia indeed. In one day, even for a subject matter of significance like the passing of Michael Jackson , that’s one too many. For the sake of power and wealth, that’s how UMNO and Najib the prime minister are prepared to sacrifice Malaysia. Remember, remember, we will!

Umno bets on race appeal to bury Pakatan

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 – Umno appears to have discarded plans to widen the party’s appeal and speak for all Malaysians. Facing pressure from its rank and file, and concerned that its mantle as defender of Malay rights is under threat from PAS, the ruling party is retreating into its own cocoon.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gave a sneak peek of this insecure feeling during yesterday’s Barisan Nasional (BN) supreme council meeting.

What does this useless phrase mean? That the newly established dear leader F***s us blind? Which he is exactly doing now! “Bulan madu”? It feels like a bad moon on the rise (CCR song, not PAS).
Besides the Perak debacle, where the present state gomen remains ‘spaced-out’, Selangor – according to the honeymooner and his octogerian sorcerer (not to mention GuruJi) is ‘ripe’ for the picking. Has MB Khalid ever dealt with hostile corporate takeovers?
I think that instead of having useless launchings of what any politically and socially aware person already knows – it would be better to strategize on what’s going to happen next.
And all you liberals, conservatives, socialists, capitalists, so-called intellectuals, guardian angels, secularists and fundamentalist, whatever, better sit down and flagellate yourselves black and blue, until you can thwart those fanatics and terrorists.

  32. ref says:

In fact, while Gerakan was plotting its future last year, many had called for the party to withdraw from Barisan Nasional. But it’s top leaders, Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon and his cohort wanted to “stay in power”. They had advised their grassroots back in Sept last year:

“We will also observe whether Umno is going to reinvent itself during its December 2008 annual general assembly. Within the next few months, we are going to fight for the reform of the BN. Only if reforms don’t happen will we start to consider withdrawing,” says Chang.

Now, nearly a year down the road, it cannot be clearer that all the talk of reform in UMNO is pure shadow-play. Nothing have changed. If anything, it has gotten more vicious, with all sorts of evil, ficticious and malicious allegations thrown at the opposition.

PETALING JAYA:Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Tuesaday challenged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to decide if he wanted the country to be based on his 1 Malaysia concept or one which promoted a racist agenda.

The Opposition Leader, who has been accused by Umno of being a traitor to the Malays, said that Najib had to stop the race rhetoric being employed against him or risk 1 Malaysia becoming cheap propaganda.

The arrest, said Liu, was none other than part of an ongoing attempt by the Barisan Nasional-led federal government to weaken the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government through systematic harassment.”

From any angle of a jump, and the eventual landing position and the injuries sustained, it is with certainty that I can say he did not jump. So what contribute to the damage to the shoe?

    7. My theory is that, TBH was lifeless. Someone (or two) carried his body and threw out of the window. As the body raced down, the right foot scraped trough over a cemented portion of the building external side wall. The force of impact is so hard that the heel came off and a deep scraped mark was left on shoe.

(The Star) ALOR SETAR: MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has pledged to rid the party of money politics, vowing to do whatever is necessary to prevent its destruction.

“Whether I am around or not, the party must survive,” he said.

“There is a small group of party leaders who have allowed outsiders to infiltrate the MCA for their own personal gain. People claim that I am play-acting when I say that I face difficulties and that I am surrounded by enemies.

“As an MCA leader, I will not allow the party to be destroyed by those with personal interests,” he said in his speech at the party’s Kuala Kedah division dinner last night.

He said those who were against him, in and out of the party, were raising money to oust him.

“They already have RM100mil now – money which can be used to build 20 new Chinese schools. Instead, they want to use it to bring me down,” he said.

  101. chuasoiledlake says:

On a separate issue, the Transport Minister compared the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) controversy to the 1980s Bumiputra Malaysia Finance (BMF) scandal.

“The PKFZ is even bigger than the BMF (scandal). The BMF claimed two lives, but I hope the same won’t happen in the PKFZ probe.”

Ong reiterated that the allegation by a “political thug” that he had received a RM10mil loan was baseless.

“Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing claims that the special committee’s report on the PKFZ is baseless, so I can claim the same.

“I never expected that I would become a victim when I ordered an investigation into the PKFZ while the one who is involved is still at large.

“(Nonetheless) I have strong defensive powers and can withstand the pressure,” he said.

Ong later presented a total of RM160,000 to SMJK(C) Sin Min and the Kulim/Bandar Baru, Jerlun and Padang Serai party divisions.

He urged party members not to be divided when facing the numerous challenges they have against them.

“If you want to use (the planes) you can use, but you pay,” he stressed. “It’s like borrowing your neighbour’s car. You have to fill petrol, pay for toll and change the motor oil.”

According to Faizal, fuel costs alone would amount to between US$3,000 and US$4,000 per flight hour.

Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that Ong ‘owed’ US$40,000 for using the planes, but his secretary Simon Lim claimed that the ministry was never billed for it.

Responding to Lim, Faizal said one of the minister’s assistants had approached Wijaya Baru’s staff to request for the use of the jets and there was no official business deal involved.

    “How to give bill?

We’re not doing business… if he doesn’t want to pay, up to him.

All the charges, fuel, pilot and crew have been paid by us.

“Why do we have to bill him if he knows he used it?” he added. Four times – ‘mana boleh tahan’.

Faizal also revealed that after the cost was not reimbursed four times in a row, the company declined to let Ong use the plane for a fifth time on April 24. “So after the first four times he ignored or buat tak tau, we couldn’t tell him to pay first. So we just said (on his fifth request) that the plane was not available.

“Maybe he knows the plane was there and became angry, because a few weeks later the PwC report came out,” he said.

    Anwar denies secretly meeting PM

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied a report that he had a private meeting with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Prime Minister’s residence in Putrajaya recently.

Anwar said he had met Najib privately in the past, but not recently.

“Who said that (I met with the Prime Minister)? Did Datuk Seri Najib say that?” he told reporters after casting his vote at SK Seri Penanti, Permatang Pasir here on Tuesday.

Anwar said on Tuesday that he meets Najib often during the Dewan Rakyat sitting.

On Monday, an online news portal reported carried a report on a purported secret meeting between Anwar and Najib last month.
