Let me just reproduce the press statement by two persons recently (on 8 July):

Al-Islam Police Report

We are deeply concerned that two Muslim men acting on false information that the Catholic Church was converting Muslims into Christians had recently entered a Catholic Church service for the purpose of gathering information as to whether this was occurring.

They were also investigating whether the word ‘Allah’ was being used in church services. These men participated in the church service and even took part in the rituals that are strictly for Catholics and in doing so violated the sanctity of what Catholics hold very sacred.

These men later wrote about their experience in an article entitled “Tinjaun Al Islam Dalam Gereja:Mencari Kesahihan Remaja Murtad” which was published in the May 2009 issue or the Al Islam magazine.

Al-Islam May09

The men had consumed the ‘communion’ which is a white wafer which is blessed by the Priest in a Catholic ritual that dates back 2000 years. Via this ritual the ‘white wafer’ is supernaturally transformed into what Catholics believe to be Jesus Christ and when consumed allows Catholics to experience life after death. The ‘communion’ is held with great reverence and cannot in any way be mishandled or with a lack of respect. Even Catholics are not allowed to take home the ‘communion’ but are instructed to consume it immediately during the service. Catholics go through an elaborate process of preparing themselves to receive this ‘communion’ worthily and those who have not done so are advised to refrain from receiving it.

As such we are outraged that these Muslim men consumed it only to spit it out later, have it photographed and have its image published in the Al-Islam magazine. The total disrespect shown to what Catholics hold in closest to their hearts and believe to be most Holy strikes deep into our hearts and invokes much anger. While we are resolved not to allow anger to guide our actions and instead pray that these ignorant will be forgiven by the Allah, we want to know what has become of this most holy ‘communion’ and demand its immediate return to the church authorities.

We are further outraged that these Muslim men have violated our sense of privacy to freely worship. Would these men tolerate non-Muslims entering the mosque and violating the sanctity and holiness of their worship? We believe that all places of worship and the form of worship practiced in these places must be respected with the greatest sensitivity and reverence be they the church, mosque, temple or gurdwaras. Entering these premises with the intention to spy and worse to violate the sanctity of the worship only serves to incite anger and hatred that could lead to potentially dangerous consequences that would tear this country apart.

Al-islam May09 (2)

As such, as concerned Catholics, we have made a police report at the Patani Road Police station on 8th July 2009 and thereafter held a press conference at the same place. We requested that the police investigate this matter with great urgency and bring to books those responsible for acting to incite hate and resentment among the Catholic Community. We also call on the police to investigate both the Al-Islam magazine and the writers of the article.

  1. This is life for non muslims in muslim Malaysia !
They don’t do this even in Indonesia, suppose to be the biggest muslim nation in the world. Why ?

This is just pathetic… that’s about all I can say, Susan. sheesh…

  4. NoktahHitam says:

What a shame. They even had the guts to publish it? If the case of murtad happens in today’s youth, why publish it on Al-Islam? Would these youth buy such magazine just to read an article? Answer, no. They’d buy Galaxie, Mangga, URTV, FHM and such.

If they published it for the sake of profit, then, as a muslim, I am deeply ashamed.

On other note, murtad (or conversion from Muslim to Christian) happens everyday. It is our responsibility to install faith in youngster so they won’t be misguided.

  5. mak jun yeen says:

    dear Susan,

I dont know who is more sick, the “Spies” who spit out the communion or those self righteous catholics who lodged a police report on this.

Let me tell you a story.

My mother is a devout catholic.

15 years ago, she counseled a born catholic who converted into Islam for the woman he loved.

He complained that his mother in law have been putting “charms” on him so that he would not leave or revert to christianity.

His wife have been controling his movements so that he would not go see his mother who they fear would ruin his new found akidah

His mother and relatives asked him to divorce the wife and return to the fold of the Church and would not give him peace until he did so.

He had no one to ask for advice but turn to my mother.

My mother ask: Did you love your wife when you married her?

    He said yes.

My Mother : Do you believe that Christ is your Lord and he loves you?

    He said yes.

My Mother: Then you must love and take care of your wife, your mother in law, her brothers and sisters just as Christ has love you. Go back to your wife, What God has joined let no person tear asunder.

She didnt tell me whether the man did as she advised but I learned more about Christianity and Catholism from my mother’s advice than from all the catechism and sermons in church that I have attended up till then and ever since.

Instead of welcoming people to the Church even if they want to insult you like Christ would have done they are drumming the political drum beat and asking the police to prevent so thing from happening..

Loks like You can spend all your time in the garage it doesnt turn you into a car, you can spend all time in Church doesnt turn you into a true Christian.

  11. lucia says:

you can read about the other articles when they mentioned about spying on other churches at my blog. they did not participate in the service and consume the ‘body of christ’ though. they discovered most of those they thought were malays were catholics flipinos or sabahans/sarawakians.

  12. Musa Susah says:

Let them come and investigate or find out more about the church. Even if they come as spies and participate in the ceremony, welcome them instead of being suspicious of them. There is nothing for the church to fear or to hide because the The Catholic church are not doing anything wrong. WHY MAKE A BIG FUSS ABOUT IT?

  13. kaKiaYam says:

“….Instead of welcoming people to the Church even if they want to insult you like Christ would have done they are drumming the political drum beat and asking the police to prevent so thing from happening….”

So where do you draw the line? Would lodging a police report discourage people from coming to the church? Did the person who made the police report ask that these spies should be punished?

We expect more from these muslims…seriously…

  14. malaysian says:

seems like there is a james bond for islamic religion. Good to know what will be the governments action on these guys. Can we do the same to islam religion, body snatching. The govt should put a stop to this unethical means of promoting a religion.

  15. lucia says:

    musa susah
sure we welcome them with open arms if they want to come to our church but the fuss was that they consume the ‘roti putih’ (white host) which had been transformed into the ‘body of christ’ – a holy sacrament that only us catholics believe in. the ‘body of christ’ is something very sacred to us catholics. those who are not catholics should not consume it. and what make matter worst, these spies consume it (presumably put in thier mouth) then spit it out again and take photos of it. the ‘body of christ’ is sacred and should not be played around like this. it is sacrilege to ‘play’ with the ‘body of christ’ like what these spies did!

if they just came to the church and observe and even join in the prayers, fine, we welcome them but not when they took part in a sacrament that is meant for catholics only.

  16. monsterball says:

One who claims they belong to the most powerful religion on earth……need not resort to such a low class acts.
So what…if few Muslims want to listen…feel and see for themselves..why God is.
This spying have been going on for decades.
These are sick people…not Muslims at all.

  17. Keith says:

They are more then welcomed to come to church.

You’re more than welcomed to be a catholic.

But until you are, catholics request that you respect our beliefs and not partake in holy communion.

You can stay the entire duration of the mass and there after, but we simply ask that you do not consume the holy Eucharist as it is only for baptized and practicing catholic. That is our belief, if you don’t believe it that’s fine, but respect must be given. You cannot participate in Holy Communion until you are in communion with the church.

The reporters were not just Muslims, they were to an extent anti-Catholic, and as such their partaking in Holy Communion is not just a sin, but an insult to my beliefs.

If Muslims get riled up over Cartoons of their prophet, how would they expect Catholics to react to this?

For those of other faiths, to put this into perspective, it’s similar to destroying statues of Deities or pissing on the holy books. We believe that Communion is the body and blood of Christ, and spitting it out is spitting on Christ. You can choose not to believe it, but you have to respect it.

    My 2 cents.

  18. Saba says:

To prevent such vile characters from defiling a place of worship it might be a good idea to demand to see the identity cards of any one who looks suspicious before they enter a church or temple. Then if their ic’s show they are Muslim perhaps they could be reported to the Islamic religious authorities to deal with. Unless I am mistaken, and if I am I do apologise, Muslims are forbidden from entering churches and temples. The religious authorities should then also send these twisted charcters for a long rehabilitation at one of their infamous rehabilitation centres.

True Muslims will surely be highly offended by the disgusting behaviour of these ugly Malaysians.

Anyone remember Brother Heng in KL some 20 years ago who was on his way to becoming a priest.

Well one day he gave a sermon in Holy Rosary Church Jalan Brickfields and he told us how heaven would look like.

There was a person who died and went to heaven there at the gates was St Peter.

St Peter welcome him with open arms and gave him a rousing welcome.

The saint took him around heaven.

“And hear look, this is the anklers part of heaven”

Indeed there were people with fishing rods fishing the largest fishes from a heavenly river.

Then they pass a garden filled with the most beautiful flowers and sweet smelling plants. “And here you see those who like gardening when they were on earthe gardening here for all eternity”.

They passed thru a hall filled with millions of books, “and here the bookworms and avid readers can read to their hearts content.

As the tour continued suddenly they come to a gigantic castle with walls stretching so high you cant see the end.

” Holy father, what is that castle and who lives there” asked the new heaven resident.

St Pete frowned and caught hold of his hand and whispered “sush you
be quiet, that castle is where all the catholics who think that they are the only people in heaven stay, we dont want to disturb their heavenly bliss”

I remember my Pastor was arrested under ISA by the chedet Government when the Church was accused of converting some Malays to Christians. What actually happened was one Malay who was a Christian invited some of his Malay friends to Church. The Church cannot possibly turn away anybody if he or she wants to attend Church service. Its about beliefs not about imposing your views, a cardinal rule in Religions. My Pastor had to take the rap, imprisoned for 2 year and on completion banished to NZ. Never forgive these people.

  22. Dave says:

I am really getting angry at this two muslim who violated our rights.what is the religious department going to do about it. They are good at body snatching. Damn

  23. solon says:

The church is open to all regardless of race or religion.
Indeed, we don’t turn them away but the two muslim men who went in there to ‘persecute’ so-call murtad is something we Christians should speak up against. Just as Christ did when he chased away those people who turn “My Father’s house into a a gambling house”.

Or the time when He challenge the temple elders about the sabbath. As Christians, we have the right to worship freely and so do any so-called murtad.

The Muslims or any non-Christians are welcome to the church service. What we are against is their partaking in the communion with every intention of making a mockery of the Blessed Sacrament, and publishing their ill-intent in a magazine or periodicals.

If we don’t speak up, we are a party to committing a grave sin against the Host. Christ made clear what he thinks of those parishees but with no malice in His heart. And so do we. The police report was rightly made because the men violate the sancity of the church and to find with intention to prosecute our brothers and sisters – so-called murtad.

And mak jun yeen, there are many of us who are already praying for the repentence of the two muslim men. We don’t pray negatively against them. That is not our intention. Let the police deal with them.

  24. kaKiaYam says:

mak jun yeen, you are barking up the wrong tree. I don’t see anything wrong in making a police report. And I do not understand why are you telling us all these stories.

Do you actually think that it is a display of self righteousness, holier than thou attitude in making a police report over this issue? If yes, why and how?

  28. Aisha Stacey says:

Christians often talk about developing a relationship with Christ and accepting him into their lives. They assert that Jesus is much more than a man and died on the cross to free mankind from the original sin. Christians speak of Jesus with love and respect, and it is obvious he holds a special place in their lives and hearts. But what about Muslims; what do they think about Jesus and what place does Jesus Christ hold in Islam?

Someone unfamiliar with Islam may be surprised to learn that Muslims love Jesus too. A Muslim will not speak the name of Jesus without respectfully adding the words “may peace be upon him”. In Islam, Jesus is a loved and esteemed man, a Prophet and Messenger calling his people to the worship of the One True God.

Muslims and Christians share some very similar beliefs about Jesus. Both believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and both believe that Jesus was the Messiah sent to the people of Israel. Both also believe that Jesus will return to earth in the last days. However in one major detail they are worlds apart. Muslims believe with certainty that Jesus is not God, he is not the son of God and he is not part of a Trinity of God.

Right, as you have mentioned it, this is the believe of the muslims. What then got this to do with the issue above? Tell me, how do you believe the fact that Jesus is not God with “certainty”?
What does it means by “believe in certainty”?
You accepted Islam and in Islam, they are a set of doctrine and belief which you must ACCEPT. To accept something and to say that you believe in something with “certainty” is seriously two different matters. You don’t believe in something with certainty just because you accepted such a believe for a long period of time. But in any case, I respected your believe.

But perhaps, you could just comment on the behaviour of these two muslim man instead of telling us what we have already known?

sigh,….some muslims, instead of criticising what was done by the two wolf, take this as an oppurtunity to tell us what we should and shouldn’t do….

my guess is that what these two wolves did, is justified in their eyes…maybe next time, i will start participating in their rituals…including preparing food and what not and blog about it….

One question I would ask is why are so many muslims (boat loads of them ) dying to ‘get’ across to the Christian countries to live ?
The above two muslims men and the organisation behind the incident should instead try to stop all the muslims from ‘going’ to the Christian
majority country. I also wonder why you don’t hear of Christians dying to ‘go’ to a muslim country !
We all know what the results would be if a police report is made !

But hey, its just an excuse for the journalists’ behaviour. He writes:

“I understand that maybe those Al Islam Magazines’s journalists thought that they had no other options but to go undercover in order to discover whether there is any truth with regard to the reports and rumours going around that there is a clandestine operation by the Christian Church here in Malaysia to apostatize the weak faithed amongst the Malay Muslims of Malaysia into becoming Christians.”

“Investigations on apostasy” appears to be a cover-up for this big boo boo. Finding out the truth does not require the journalists to actually participate in the mass rituals.

If going undercover was such a necessity, they could have simply carried out investigations without consuming the communion. Most churches announce / display that communion is only for baptised and practising Catholics.

OK well, never mind all that. Bottom line is… If the investigation was about apostasy, why did they have to publish information on the rituals and the photo of the desecrated host? I don’t see any connection between the two. It’s not unreasonable to question what their real intentions are.

It seems to me that the article published in the magazine is no different from a news scoop or some exclusive spread, simply for the pure reading pleasure of those who subscribe to it.

I didn’t make any complaint because there are just too many complaints to be made in this world!

Can you rectify the problems if you complain? The answer is a definite NO!

  56. loud and clear says:

So what to do with one’s life when confronting by all these complaints and problems?

Can you solve all the problems deriving from all these complaints?

Can you reverse the meticulous and monumental flow of the Yang Tzu river? The answer is no!

The solution is let it be! Let the continuous flow of the Yang Tzu river unfettered!

    Let nature takes its course!

    This is Lao Tzu theory!

What is Lao Tze theory? Please watch the You Tube below:-

  57. pistil says:

    “Let nature takes its course!”

Osama Bin laden and his brothers are part of nature taking its course.

  58. Menyalak-er says:

Hahaha, pistil, neither did the crusaders.
Ever heard of “Peter the Hermit”, nice fella – Osama’s ‘no fight’ compared to the likes of him.
Is Lao-Tze historical? But the Daodejing is pretty interesting.

  59. Isaac Ho says:

That’s the reason why I am compelled to leave Malaysia for good. What these two Islamic spies did to our faith would have to repaid in the next life? Such despicable act is an insult to the Holy Spirit and would not be forgiven. They are destined for fiery Hell…these fanatics. Our Jehovah God will not forgive these two culprits if they don’t repent…

  60. Aisha Stacey says:

The Islamic view of Jesus lies between two extremes. The Jews, who rejected Jesus as a prophet, called him an imposter, while the Christians, on the other hand, considered him to be the son of God and worship him as such. Islam considers Jesus to be one of the greatest and most forbearing of prophets, in addition to Noah, Abraham, Moses and Muhammad, may God praise them. Jesus is also considered to be the Messiah as well. This is in conformity with the Islamic view of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Divine guidance, and the complementary role of the subsequent mission of God’s messengers.

  61. Gerry Chong says:

I’ve always been the kind who was sure of how i’ll react to situations. After first reading bout this, my initial reaction was one of anger, hatred and most definitely violence. I”ve never had a problem with violence especially when threatened. Somehow, after reading some of the many posts here i’m close to tears. No longer am i thinking about how they’d feel if we did the same. I’ve definitely stop wishing that these two fools are standing in front of me so that i can bash their faces in.

Instead, i’m questioning my christianity. I’m asking myself what i should do and how i shoud ACCEPT this. I’ve never once in my life turn my other cheek. In fact, when it comes to confrontations, arguments and brawls i’ve always believed that it’s better to give than to receive. but now, in the face this situation, i find myself trying to be christian, not just a catholic. i go to church on an annual basis but i love the catholic church. i feel loyal to the church. but will the usual, expected, humanly response which is retaliation help?

i definitely agree that something has to be done, but wat? somehow, saying something like ‘how’d they (muslims) feel if we do the same in their mosque” just doesnt cut it. it just doesnt feel right. just doesnt feel christian.

however, i do hope that something is done about this.

  62. Lea says:

This is down right appalling. A violation of the nation’s Christians. Muslim extremists are giving their religion a bad name…

  63. eureka says:

mak jun yeen: I understand you’re a mother and wife. Now if your husband were to be robbed/murdered or your daughter was raped, would you only just pray for the murderer/robber/rapist and not do anything else or make a report immediately and take whatever it does to bring these culprits to justice?

To call these 2 Catholics ‘sick’ is uncalled for. Instead, their actions should be commended. It is because of them, that we are aware of the happenings of this country and can we pray for justice to prevail. You owe them an apology.

  64. syahazman says:

I always fear this friction between religions. Friction, in any way will heat things up.

In this case, it clearly violates the sanctity of the church. As a muslim, I am against non muslims to do the same in our mosques.

The late Deedat drew up a parable with a car and the religion we are in.

A religion is like a car in an accident while us, the drivers. Do you blame the car or was it the driver? Every car on the road served its ultimate result: as a transportation which provided ease of transit from point A to point B.

Every car is as good as the nut behind the wheel. Please don’t blame the religion because of what the two nuts and a magazine has done.

Why can’t we live in peace, like the ones we had centuries ago?

  65. bullshit says:

Let’s be frank… do you really think by making a police report would actually carry any weight to make a difference? Is there actually any ‘Integrity’ left?

  66. billauchris says:

There is no doubt that the two jounalists who disguised as Catholics, attended their church service and deconsecrated the worship of the Catholics by defililng the host had committed a great secrilege and abomination against the Catholic Religion. Their report in the Al-Islam was certainly uncalled for and provocative of the good nature of the Catholic Church.

For justice to be met, the Government should invoke the ISA and locked these two kurang ajar up in Taiping Prison. Besides, Al-Islam should be outlawed.

  67. jerry baboi says:

There is no peace in this world today, the bombing of the 2 hotels in Jakarta, recent bombing of shopping centre in Makati Manila, the religious unrest in china even though muslim is a small minority and now they started spying in church in Malaysia. This is a religious provocation and must not be tolerated. Christian worshippers using the word Allah is big issue in Malaysia christian must not tolerate the animalitic act of these 2 idiots. Misti makan bak kut teh. Police do your job well.

  68. grkumar says:

This feigned outrage ought to stop. It contains inaccuracies which are inflammatory and divisive and do not represent the wider Catholic view.

You ought to encourage your readers to diversify their views and not to accept blindly the hysteria this has become in the name of catholicism and Christ.

Here is a thought provoking, non populist though balanced view.

  69. grkumar says:

najib manaukau :This is life for non muslims in muslim Malaysia !They don’t do this even in Indonesia, suppose to be the biggest muslim nation in the world. Why ?

Because Suharto murdered over 3,500,000 of his people during his 30 odd reign of terror leaving his Chinese crony friends in charge of everything from the media to their Churchs in return for western support.

When Suharto was brought down by his masters the Chinese Christians were naturally the target for a campaign of burning, rape, looting and murder.

Do you wish to be in that league?
