So this is One Malaysia for you!

The NUTgraph has the report on Wong Chin Huat’s arrest, here.

At 7.17pm Bangkok time, I blogged/asked whether renowned social activist and journalism lecturer  Wong Chin Huat had been just arrested for sedition, probably in connection with the WEAR BLACK on May 7 event.

So, it’s true that it was the articles he wrote that got him arrested, and got his computer seized.

According to the NUTgraph, Wong, who represented the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih), held a press conference to launch the 1BLACKMalaysia campaign, and urged all Malaysians to wear black on 7 May to protest the “ongoing Perak coup” by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

So, people, please make sure more people wear black on May 7! I wear black most days anyway.

We are with you, Chin Huat!

Can anyone shed some lights on his whereabouts with immediate urgency? His immediate family members or closest friends, please tell us his status. Perhaps, the authorities can confirm this, please? I pray to God for his safety. Mr. Wong Chin Huat, do take care of your health as our journey is still very long.

Najis and the cock licking BN leaders can talk till the cows come home, nothing substantial will be done I can assure you. It is just talk talk talk and nothing else. Exactly what Bodohwi did. BN wants to win back the electorate so that they can continue to screw the citizens big time again. Nothing more. So if we give them a bigger mandate then we truly deserve to be screwed big time. I am past 60 so I know the history of this country and all the things that have taken place. I have eaten more salt than most have eaten rice.
I came out to work in 1971. Pay RM650.00 House in SS2 cost RM20,000.00. A Datsun SSS 1600 cost RM9,000.00. A smaller car cost RM5,000.00.
Today a fresh graduate earns RM2,000.00. A house in SS2 cost at least RM300,000.00.
    A Honda city cost RM85,000.00. A Proton cost RM45,000.00.
No need to sat any thing more. You the citizens of Malaysia calculate for yourself and see how we have been screwed big time by the BN govt for the last 50 years of our independence. We deserve the govt we get becos we put them there. At least my conscience is clear. Since the day I was eligible to vote I have never given my vote to the BN or Alliance becos I believe in true democracy where we need a viable opposition. So my fellow Malaysians, do not blame anyone, blame yourself becos you allowed yourself to be screwed big time.

Al-Qaeda Bagman Undercover in Malaysia for Years

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Although he was arrested in Germany in March and his name hasn’t been disclosed, an alleged al-Qaeda money man is now reported to have worked undercover in Malaysia for at least four years as an engineer in a manufacturing plant.

The 31-year-old suspect, a German national of Turkish descent, is believed to have acted as coordinator for the transfer of funds from Malaysia to terrorist groups worldwide.

Malaysian authorities are tight-lipped but it is learnt that checks revealed that the suspect moved funds to al-Qaeda, Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). […]

A source said the arrest of the German national may be the “tip of the iceberg”.

The suspect is still under detention while authorities from both countries sift through intelligence reports to ascertain the suspect’s network.

It’s believed that information obtained by interrogation of the al-Qaeda money man led to the recent sweep of terror suspects by British authorities which reportedly uncovered a “very big plot” against the UK.

It would be nice to put a name and a face on the alleged al-Qaeda money man.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir tonight defended Barisan Nasional’s takeover of Perak, saying the party’s actions were legitimate.

“This is all technical, I think what Barisan Nasional has been doing is within the rights of the state party so I don’t there should be any problems. I hope they won’t make it into such a big issue by causing chaos and disturbing the peace in the state,” the International Trade and Industry deputy minister said.

Ok, from info I have so far, Chin Huat has been taken to the Commercial Crimes Dept, in Bkt Perdana, behind Bank Negara.

I’m leaving soon to head on over there, come by if you can in solidarity.

Word has it that it’s a sedition charge, probably related to 1BlackMalaysia. His location, if accurate, suggests that it may have been something written online as well.

Chin Huat is a really great guy. A little excitable, but about as far as seditious as one can be (if only the same could be said of say, Ahmad Said).

This arrest is probably about Perak.

Can you smell their fear? See it in their eyes?

And Mr. “review ISA” Najib. Mr. 1Malaysia. It looks like we don’t even have to wait a goddamned month to see your true colours eh?

I’ll try to get someone to update jelas while I’m away if possible.

(The Edge) PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) acted too hastily in Perak and monarchs cannot remove elected heads of government.

On the eve of the continuance of Perak’s constitutional crisis, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said: “Under the Federal Constitution, as far as I know, very clearly states that the monarch cannot remove the prime minister.

He (the ruler) can refuse to appoint a prime minister but once appointed he cannot remove him until a vote of no confidence is taken.”

The former prime minister was however careful not to draw parallels with the Perak case.

“I think the laws (federal and state) apply to the state as well but if Perak is different, I stand corrected,” Mahathir told reporters at the Perdana Leadership Foundation today.

Mahathir also refused to speculate on the legality of Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir’s appointment as menteri besar of Perak, saying that the matter now lies with the courts.

But the 83-year-old said that BN should have been more careful in the Perak takeover and that the coalition had acted “hastily”.
