Many things have been said about UMNO’s incoming prime minister Najib Tun Razak (sorry he is not my prime minister), especially about his crackdown and things to expect during his premiership.

Lim Kit Siang’s media statement today is another. But what I want to know is how will the Opposition  topple Najib if he is going to be such a bad PM? How will they topple UMNO? Any strategies?

I don’t want to hear another story about his crackdowns. It’s all in the media! We know how the situation will be when Najib becomes PM. Think tear gas and FRUs, think police lock up and abuse. Think ISA!

I hope the Opposition should start doing their work as politicians. They are enough journalists around to report on the ‘crackdowns’! Start to think how to topple UMNO! That would make you a great politician.

Now relish this media statement from LKS:

The start of the Najib crackdown?

Are Malaysians seeing the start of the Najib crackdown from events of the past week?

These developments include:

16.3.09: DAP MP for Puchong Gobind Singh Deo suspended for one year in “kangaroo court” proceeding in Parliament without parliamentary pay and privileges for asking the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak whether he was involved in the murder case of Mongolian Altantuya Shariibuu.

17.3.09: DAP National Chairman and MP for Bukit Gelugor Karpal Singh charged under the Sedition Act 1948 for stating that a State Ruler can be brought to court in their official and personal capacities under the Constitution.

18.3.09: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) showed utter contempt for the doctrine of separation of powers and continued harassment of the Perak State Assembly Committee of Privileges chaired by Perak State Assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar for suspending usurper Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir and his illegitimate six exco members from the assembly, by subjecting the committee members to
questioning for the offence of corruption in misusing their powers.

23.3.09: Unreasonable and undemocratic three-month suspension of PAS’ Harakah and PKR’s Suara Keadilan;

23.3.09: Indiscriminate police firing of tear gas and chemical-lacked water on 5,000-people ceramah at Bukit Selambau, Kedah minutes after Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took the podium.

Since the unethical, undemocratic, illegal and constitutional power grab in Perak on 5th February 2009, personally orchestrated personally, the PM-in-waiting has confirmed the worst fears that his ascension as the sixth Prime Minister would see a return of Mahathirism and a Najib crackdown.

Media reports of the parliamentary debate on the Witness Protection Bill yesterday have been sanitized to remove all reference to questions about Najib’s suitability, integrity and legitimacy to become the new Prime Minister, so long as he is not prepared to take the necessary actions to clear all doubts haunting and hounding him, whether about mega defence deal commissions, the Altantuya Shariibuu murder case or the undemocratic, unethical, illegal and unconstitutional power grab in Perak.

During the debate, I referred to the spate of adverse international media reports about Najib’s coming ascension – in London Sunday Times on Sunday, Paris Liberation last week, as well as in Thailand and Australia – questioned the seriousness and the political will in the purported reform to root out corruption (of which the Protection of Witness Bill is part of the package), the disappearance of private investigator Bala Subramaniam after two statutory declarations highly detrimental to Najib’s reputation and integrity, and the urgent need for Najib to respond frontally to the many swirling allegations dogging him by establishing a Royal Commission of Inquiry to vindicate his innocence, as he had claimed.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz
avoided all these burning issues with the stance that they are totally irrelevant to the Bill.

Who is really being protected – Najib?

lks has ZERO strategy. thats why he is like a headless chicken writing rubbish day in day out. i am tired of this opposition leaders always trying hard to appear as if they know how to get things done but in reality, they dont know nuts.

another nutter, anwar ibrahim trying hard to suppress the corruption charges of his own pkr leaders in penang and selangor.

goons from umno will always be goons… no matter where they are.

The Only Way Susan is to form an unity government (all PR + 30+ BN MPs) who share a common cause and dream to appoint a new PM besides the incoming PM.

Too bad, the spin doctors spin too much on the unity government as a pact between UMNO and PAS, but it is not. Unity government that Tengku Razaleigh and TG Hadi raised up was formed by MPs who truly represent the rakyat in Parliament instead of their political party.

But no one ever listen to small voice like me………..

  4. Zonalbliss says:

another thing, opposition keep on highlighting what najib is capable of doing.. so what if he doesn’t do all that and became quite capable in running this country?

he will sure get a lot of support.

ARE THE LEADERS IN OPPOSITION CAN STAND BETTING CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN?

what next? are the leaders in pakatan rakyat will then destroy the country by badmouthing it or try to sabotage the government’s every move just to prove a point?

will they be the immature opposition that we have seen all this while (till now even).

Then look at the full list of candidates standing for UMNO election..100% Malays….so is MCA and MIC..100% Chinese and Indians respectively….yet Mahathir is trying so hard to arouse race issues….blaming the Chinese as racialists.
Geraka tried to be multiracial in BN…but have no balls to do what they promised to do. …..all filthy rich in their smart corrupted ways. That is why….today that party is as good as dead.

Toppling UMNO is one thing. Governing a country is another. Is the Opposition ready if such an opportunity is to arise ? Are they ‘strong’ enough ? Do they have the required experienced politicians, manpower, expertise ? Do they have a ‘blueprint’ agreed by all component parties on how to run the country ? In short, ARE THEY READY ? Toppling UMNO is not an end to everything. It may be the beginning of a nightmare if they are NOT ready.

Only a miracle could save us and the country, nothing else. I won’t depend on the politicians nor the monarchy which is a waste of time and energy. Just sit back and watch how these UMNO goons plunder and suck the whole country dry and put us back to the 3rd world status.

    God help us.

I think there’s a misunderstanding going on here. It’s not what the opposition can do, but the “rakyat” can do about it. If the opposition start to forcefully try to take power away from BN, they will stood at the same level, aint it? However, if the “rakyat” did it, it makes more sense. Riot, demo and protest are the only way to go. Not to flame violence or disharmony, what do you expect? Sit quietly while others do the dirty jobs? Have you actually seen nation undergo transformation without those elements? Opposition can only do so much and frankly even though I dislike BN, same can be said of the opposition themselves too but less.

Cut a slack for the opposition parties. There is always the coming GE. Just lay-low built a bloody good structure and damn solid foundation and a dream-team who can lead malaysia out of this rut and the coming rut that these goons are gonna create. Unavoidable and uncontrolable. Opposition must learn from these lessons.

    Big time in many ways

Praying many times in a day
Light up candles to seek the truth
Yet in our leaders we put so much hope
They take us for a ride into the underworld

    The dark clouds painting images
There is the sad day looming near
Of the tainted leaders holding courts
I know it will be hard to ease the pain

    We have sins big time
Casting our votes on the wrong guys
    Belittling us in many ways
We haven’t learned all these years

Now there is a window of opportunity
To right the wrong and put it right
    Don’t give the tainted leaders
A chance to steal from us again

    GE 13 will arrive

As Susan’s blogging buddy, Ktemoc (yuck !) points out, katackracy is unwelcome. What PR can do is to put its best effort on governance in Penang, Selangor, Kedah. Continue the legal battle in Perak.
Ah, yes, continue to pile on the pressure for governance , human rights an humanity on Najis , UMNO and BN in general.

There is a mini-GE of sorts coming up – three seats in 3 different states. If BN loses two or more seats, Najib will be under tremendous pressure just one week into his PM-ship.

He’s the most dishonest and cruel king that England has ever had.
Now could the bumble bee stung lip premier replicate the evil longshank, hope not.

We can only pray for divine intervention as there is none on earth that is able to hinder his progress. We can pray that he is stricken by an incurable disease to take away his life in 6mths time or should we be comforted that this is already being done by the shaman employed by Alantuya’s father? Only time will reveal to us whether this is going to happen.

If more and more PR elected representatives sacrifice their position, then BN will think hard when they play dirty. PR should also play dirty and apply pressure on BN’s weakness constantly until GE13. For example; since Gobind has been suspended for 1 year, PR or he should take a gamble and resign and thus create a by-election. His wife or siblings could then stand for election (no income loss for family).

BN greatest fear/weakness is by-election; BN fears to face the people. If there is a by-election every 2 months or so, the rakyat are reminded of BN’s dirt and this should continue until the next GE13. Don’t allowed them to recoup; pressure them – more pressure they will play more dirty; more dirty, better margin of vote count for PR Change we can. Change we must..

Toppling the BN Government! In my view, tt is going to be a slow process seeing what is happening within the PR Coalition.

It is likened to an army who has been, during peace time, trained on various weapons, fighting wars, killing and injuring the innocent public without conscience.

These soldier boys are so hardened in their hearts and their faces are so durian-skin deep that they became insensate the peoples’ suffering. They behave like robots. Whey they won battles, they might rejoice but only temporarily. Then came peace, they usually screw it up because they have not been trained on how to manage peace.

Yes the PR had won quite a battle during the last GE; but look at some of them who are now walking the battle-field – selfish, forgotted about their pledges, vulnerable to various secular temptations, cross-overs, macam-macam.

If PR really wants to succeed, they must stump the subjects of race and religion into their collars and start thinking of the needs of the Rakyat – A Malaysian Malaysia where the people enjoy equal rights, opportunities and freedom of expression and where the people mix freely without consideration for racial and religious considerations.

PRians have to improve their mental power, human values and spiritualism; you have to unlearn what you have learned and relearn what is required of you in the years to come. Start prepare now.

Stop your internal squabbling. Dialogue more often and agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Avoid bragging and washing linens in the public. Before you decide on any project, discuss, think through and replan before you start to utter nonsence in the public,

Meanwhile, for the other PR States, you need to be alert at all times to be effective goal-keeper.

  36. justme says:

It is an undeniable fact, bolehland is in a political mess today. We have been talking about the next GE, and toppling Barisan.
I suppose PR needs at least 30 plus seats, assuming they are able to retain the seats they now have. That be the case, PR needs 30 plus potential candidates ,of integerity, qualifications and commitment to a just cause for Malaysians. In other words, second echelon leaders.
My question is has PR, ie DAP, PAS,and Parti Keadilan leaders embark on on a membership recruitment drive among the young and also to identify and groom worthwhile candidates for the next GE. Also, they should start to identify potential battle ground constituency to enable them to put in suitable candidtates compatible for that said constituency.
The senior leaders of PR should also discuss seat distrubution now, instead of bikering over it at the 13th hour. Without prior agreement and planning, all this talk of toppling BN could be a pipe dream.

It’s not DAP’s fault that this happened ; in fact it has been DAP that kept the flame burning for an alternative governance, imperfect and a little archaic though it may have become. DAP may have been dynastic like the others but it also spawned a worthy LGE unlike the evil and corrupt fruits of other BN/umno repressors/abettors. DAP has also demonstrated the principles whilst others have never.

Besides Anwar and a few others, the opposition is hopeless at governance. The civil service is a behemoth of pettiness and it takes time to unravel the ropes, otherwise we end up with menteris opposing their own policies! Opposition for the sake of opposition is not the key!
Toppling Master Ji’s disciple is not the issue here, it’s the opposition mentality that needs fine tuning. By next GE we should be ready…

I don’t know….witso…but I am a regular commentator at LKS’s blog and noted…he values freedom of speeches more than anyone.
Just look at Dr.Hsu’s blog now.
There is room for freedom of speeches from me…and when next post of his is about Gerakan….somehow he has reasons to moderate me…..not banning me. He is the only blogger saying I am some sort of an agent!!
But I will not give up…until he bans me. Right now….nothing for him to moderate as I have nothing to offer…to his same old political stuffs.
Yes…like Bamboo River said….I sacrificed myself to be insulted…against freedom of speeches.
Now back to LKS blog……he will delete foul languages only.
Saying he approve all messages..not true too.
Many of mine were deleted…..showing he or his assistants are having clear guidelines to approve or not…and I noticed most of my messages were deleted in some sort of ways….protecting me from harm’s way.
And go read all those pro BN and pro PR battle it out in such smart ..sharp and friendly ways…a real joy to read…to enjoy comedy at it’s best in blogging….which was once in Susan’s …Free Speech Zone…now gone.
Limkamput is the star BN writer…at LKS …so lovable….yet full of shit.
I find no other blogs…except in LKS’s that have so many smart commentators…for or against..in politics.
I hope witso keep reading LKS blog and enjoy and love to see him comment more….especially in Dr.Hsu’s blog.
His style is offensive ..insulting..yet not so…..hahahahahahaha

  56. monsterball says:

Again……my message vanished into thin air!

  57. monsterball says:

    I will try again….
witso….LKS hold dear in his heart..freedom of speeches …except foul languages.
Many of mine and others too…are deleted….not relevant to the post or protecting commentators .. from harm’s way.
In LKS’s blog…so many for and against ….all so smart and delightfully funny….reminding me the good old days of Free Speech Zone.
I think the assistants are doing fine jobs for LKS.
Spend more time reading comments..and above all….do put out more comments at Dr.Hsu’s …making sure readers know.. Gerakan is “utterly irrelevant”….a job I am being moderated over and over again.
You see..I am after the Singer ..not the Song…and that gets me in lots of trouble!!

  58. justme says:

Sam says “Like i say the malay will decide our destiny, be like Zimbawee or Singapore ”

Have to agree on that. My guess as to why the Malays are split between Pas and Umno are more on idealogy, one on spiritual and one being materialistic. And those for Pkr are more or less once pro Umno and now become rebels without a cause. But off course, there are more to it that those reasons.
But do not take their split for granted, the majority could unite in the blink of an eye, if and when they felt their position and political power and ketuanan being threathend. They have the unifying factor in their favour, religion, race and the King. The middle class Malays do not have the numbers at this moment.
The day Malaysians can guide their own destiny, would be day when the Malays identify themselves first as Malaysians . Maybe it would take another 50 or 100 years or never.

Monty, if you care to know who’s the jerk at LKS, ask Susan privately. Hutch also knows. There are a few good ones there, like Jeffrey, but also persistent a**hole too who don’t get purged. They protect themselves basically otherwise and apart from that the moderation is stupid and bias.

Sometimes LKS paste pro UMNO writers as post for everyone to debate.
I think he is trying to find out Malaysian’s feelings.
If I own a blog..I will allow assholes to talk as they like…and see what happens.
And in LKS….you do see alot of great debates…funny comments…rubbish..serious stuffs…all mixed up. Why not?

    <a href=”http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/63107″DAP feeds on Umno’s racial politics

  70. the man from kampung says:

DAP feeds on Umno’s racial politics

The Batu Talam by-election has shown the DAP is nothing more a stalking horse for Umno and BN while superficially it wants to cooperate with the PKR. When PKR and PAS announced a boycott, the DAP Pahang state treasurer’s son was fielded as an independent candidate against Umno, while the DAP Pahang state secretary formed an advisory group to help campaign but
    withdrew later.

DAP is a political party known for its tough party discipline. Why would the Pahang state secretary and treasurer were keen to file an independent candidate if not without blessing from the top party leadership? Why no disciplinary action was taken against them? Why would the state secretary decide to dissolve the advisory group after pressure from the party leader? Was the top level leadership of DAP consulted initially or the top brass actually given the order to do so?

The move by the so-called independent candidate had sabotaged PKR’s and PAS’ effort to bring the issue of unfair electoral law to public attention. Umno and BN have even used the independent candidate’s proclamation that his participation in the by-election had brought RM500 million allocation for the constituency by government. It justifies the ground not to boycott any elections no matter how unfair they could be for the opposition.

Isn’t it that the DAP has also always complained about – unfair electoral law – and asked for electoral changes? It did not condemn the act of the independent candidate with strong links to DAP, but the party secretary-general openly said that the DAP would never boycott any general elections. It was a slap on the face of the opposition front.

It must be reminded that the DAP came to Malaysian political limelight when it won a few seats in the 1969 general elections in the wake of boycott by the Socialist Front. In other words, it is a party born to be a stalking horse for Umno and BN.

The DAP survived on nothing else but as a machine for elections. It only lives on short time ‘sedekah’ from Umno. Its party supreme leader, Lim Kit Siang, is very happy with Umno’s racial rhetoric as he knows well that the DAP would thrive on Chinese votes if the Umno opts for racial attacks on the non-Malays. The DAP is practically a parasite of an unfair system. It lives by feeding on the ailing system.

The DAP and Umno would be two big winners in the next general elections. DAP will gain a few more predominantly Chinese constituencies at the expense of MCA and Gerakan, and Umno will still keep a tight grip on Malay voters at the expense of PKR and PAS.

There was theory that there must be an understanding between Umno and DAP – DAP keeps check on PKR and PAS by harping on less relevant issue such as Islamic state while making sure they would not make any inroads into Malay rural constituencies. On the other hand, Umno purportedly made racial slurs to ensure the DAP will win a few more seats in predominantly urban Chinese constituencies. It is a theory that should be explored further.

Unsurprisingly Kit Siang or his son, Lim Guan Eng, will return to Parliament as the opposition leader – the only post in the bureaucracy that they are able to hope for. Malaysia will go back to the politics in the 70s and 80s: Lim Kit Siang, son and co will play as the champion for non-Malays and Umno for Malays. That is the vicious cycle of Malaysian politics, and not only Umno but DAP is now part of it.

    Sure….without UMNO’s evil deeds…..DAP is nothing.
Maybe without UMNO..there maybe no DAP.
DAP does not fed only o..n UMNO’s racial politics. It’s much much more and for more than 52 years..LKS is the one and only constant threat to UMNO.
Without Anwar…..DAP could easily win Penang and Melaka.

Can any Malaysians point out god gifted rewards ..like what LKS is enjoying and not by scheming …stealing..like kings….transferring throne to son…..which UMNO is doing with no shame…a if UMNO owns the country?
UMNO is no democratic party. UMNO is never sincere to Malaysians. UMNO have clear double standards. UMNO is a racialist party.
UMNO have a bunch of con men trying to fool Malaysians….especially his own race.
UMNO present group …since Mahathir’s time…are real greedy and steal steal and steal..to enrich party…using money power to win votes.

  79. The problem with trying to intellectualise the polticial problems facing Malaysia (e.g. vicious circle, untrusworthy and flawed politicans in both PR and BN, control of the media and ISA, etc) is that we miss out on the spiritual spehere where good and evil is engaged in battle for the soul of the nation.

Having said that, I disagree with LKS’s prognosis that we are entering a dark era. Pls do not look at the present circumstances and struggle to topple the government with conventional means. People power may not be strong enough to make a second tsunami come nex GE.

What we need is to look at Msia’s acute problems from God’s perspective. I am not trying to be holy or clever but I believe that real change can only succed with the power of God coupled with the right action and mental state of mind and heart in Malaysians.

No use for bitterness, anger, hate, cunning strategies, new alliances to continue to be vented. The pessimism of the victim/oppressed mentality is self defeating.

Pls read my latest post “How God & Man Can Change Msia’s Destiny” at:

Not really right. Pakatan could have done better the last time, but they came across as wimps to the electorate re forgiveness, love, blah blah……..

Next time round they should be more dynamic. Promise the electorate that the tumbrils will role, actions will be taken and those found guilty will be sentenced commensurately.
In short Pakatan should come across as “Kick Ass”, then there will be greater respect.

    May I say it again….

Malaysia badly needs “Role Model” established Leaders & Politicians of HONOUR with Calibre, Maturity & Tolerance without Fear or Favour – On BOTH SIDES of the POLITICAL DIVIDE.

Further this nation Desperately needs Intelligent, Time Proven Pragmatic Successful modelled, Financial & Politiical “SOLUTIONS” On BOTH SIDES of the POLITICAL DIVIDE…NOW,

To mitigate the IMPENDING Political & Financial fallout.

Former Lord President Tun Mohamed Suffian Hashim repeatedly insisted in his foundational written texts that in Malaysia,

Malaysia cannot afford to see constitutional principles imperilled, and constitutional processes jeopardised —

One of the things I like best about lks blog is its low threshold for publishable comments. I’d be interested to know how you manage to trigger moderation so reliably (besides URLs and spell-checked swearwords).
