Some people have asked me to ‘respect’ the Sultan. That is assuming I do not respect him. Truth is, I respect everyone as a human being, but people in office or those who rely on the rakyat’s money for their living (luxurious at that!!!) needs to EARN my respect.

But I am sorry. No amount of money can buy this respect.

Sure, I, too, need to EARN other people’s respect, and I try to do that, slowly but surely. I do not expect people to respect me just because I am SOMEBODY.

Anyway, the Sultan of Perak has done exactly as I thought he would. But you can’t deny that Najib Tun Razak had a strategy and he was smart at that, dragging (quite willingly) all his 28+3 minions with him, to prove his point. So he won hands down.

After two shameful defeats – Permatang Pauh and Kuala Terengganu – this is like a golden trophy for Najib. Everyone in the BN camp and those sitting on the fence are already hailing Najib as the NEW KING!

Just because he managed to get 3+1 (?) bloody frogs to jump.

As for the Sultan in question, people are already hissing that perhaps UMNO or rather Najib (since it was said that this used to be Mahathir Mohamad’s style too), has got some secret file on the Sultan, and whatever affairs that could implicate him and his ‘kingdom’.

Well, kings and sultans have given up or compromised for less, can we blame him?

The PAS MB Nizar had been asked to resign if he does not vacate his seat. Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters of frog leaping would now have to swallow the bitter pill. It would have happenned the same way if Anwar had managed to get the 30 odd MPs to cross over prior to September 16.

But let us just imagine if this kind of situation continues to happen. Everytime frogs jump, change of government.

Oh dear, it would really be sad for the people. What work can the government do for the people when all it is interested in is ‘baiting’ for frogs to jump?

I did say time and again, if people are looking up to the rulers to maintain democracy, we will all die disappointed and bitter.

28 vs 28 plus 3 independents; you cannot say you’ve got the majority either way….. plain common sense. We must go back to the people once and for all, since the people voted them into power. And there must be an anti-hopping law so that when once elections are over, the elected representatives should focus on their job. Right now, we are wasting all the public’s money and the country not doing the right things to save the economy.

    Dear Susan

I agreed wt your first analysis, that HRH’s support for teh right thing to be done, was suspect.

Frankly, for all the statements they keep issuing in seminars, speeches etc about how they are guardians of the institution of religion, justice etc etc bla bla bla, incl the younger Ruler – all these comes to naught, at at crunch time.

Reminds of the thesis that Rais Yatim when he was wt Semangat – about the evil of ISA etc. But once he re-joined UMNO – look at the about-turn he did!!

Nizam was definitely one of the best MBs around for the past year – and other than political expediency, I do not see any other reason than for the palace to Acquiescence BN’s march to the state…

well well, there are no surprises there!! It really does go to show what 50 years of power has bred; the point really is that there really is no respect by those in power to the people who elected them; thus we have still along way to go before we can vote on ideological stance and commitment. Those in power do not give a flying …. for the people who place their trust in them. The opposition and Perak may lose this battle but they will win the war come the next ge.

That’s 21% of BN MPs… Impossible la… He did so just to make BN busy with MP and left Perak alone as Perak has the slimmest majority of all state government… BN only need to get 3 people to hop… so which is more easier.. 3 Adun or 30 MPs???

I then began to see, all his talk was only talk… cannot work, nor does he hve the will to put it into practice..

I don know if this is treason, but the next time our royalty speaks, I don think I will waste time to read it…

In less than 24 hours, all my respect for the Perak royal household has to be re-examined…. If our perak royalty comprising the sultan and his crown prince, could not do justice and act in the interest of their subjects, I think we can forget about the rest as well…

“Well, kings and sultans have given up or compromised for less, can we blame him?” – Susan V. loone

Answer : ABSOLUTELY. Like I said in your previous threads from the beginning, anyone who thought of sending rakyats’ grievances to the King for Her Majesty’s inteference has ceased and desist long ago. If you know what that means….. The Monarchy system in England and here are a sharp contrast. Prince Harry even have to repeatedly apologized for calling a comrade soldier “Paki” (denoting that he is a Pakistani which is a racist remarks but without malice) and PM Gordon Brown even snubbed at Prince Harry.

Here, in Bolehland, the kings are at liberty to misuse their power. Shame on Sultan Azlan Shah and Dr. Nazrin Shah. All your inspiring speeches are proven without a shadow of a virus’ doubt – false and utter rubbish. SHAME ON THE MALAYSIAN MONARCHY!

To “Zesus”, hahahaha, just walk on water, then lift Mount Kinabalu and slammed it on the all the Sultans heads. I know from the slight misnomer of your name, you surely can do that….😉 hahaha.

Now read this from Malaysiakini :-
    ________________________________________________________
4.05pm: State secretary Abdul Rahman Hashim instructs Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar, all exco members and their aides to vacate their offices at the state secretariat as soon as possible. They have been reminded not to take any official documents with them. They were also told to hand in their official car keys as well as the keys to their offices.
    ___________________________________________________________

This is a real sabotage. A blatant coup aided by the misuse of power by the Sultan of Perak. Was not Khir Toyo given enough time to shred some of the State documents before he left office, when losing Selangor to Pakatan Rakyat in the March 08 GE?

Malaysians have little choice. If you accept the current modus where BN and the Sultan stole the people’s right, even in the future , if the BN lost they will resort to the army and force, to cling on to power as what happened in 1969. On the hand if people had the gumption and stood their ground and follow the route of Anwar’s people uprising, they still will have the army coming in to impose emergency/martial law. There is only one way to handle a country run by hyenas. Take away the meat.
And in this case, people can opt for a less violent away. Just destroy the current economy by not trading, moving out their cash overseas, pulling out of business deals and moving operations overseas etc…..hit the pocket, hit the pocket, hit the pocket hard!!! This monarchy must be bankrupted and made to feel ordinary as how the Japs rightly treated them in 1942.

Liow ventures that the intense attention on Perak may cause its Sultan to err on the side of caution and stability.

“The worry is that a state election will have cascading implications for other states, thereby further destabilising an already tenuous situation,” Liow explains. “The safest option [for the palace] is to accept the new power configuration.”

We want change and we will get it.We have the will we will have it.God is great.Truth will prevail at the end.

Yes the majority who put PKR as the State Govt. of Perak. Now did he not single handedly destroy democracy and deny the rights of his subjects in Perak to select another Govt that we want? We should not see this as a weakness. They have not sacrificed their principles this way and they should stand proud they stood by the people even if the odds were not in their favour. If you play by the law in BolehLand you often are on the losing end. It is only by playing around the law and make a mockery of it you win! “The PAS MB Nizar had been asked to resign if he does not vacate his seat. Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters of frog leaping would now have to swallow the bitter pill. It would have happenned the same way if Anwar had managed to get the 30 odd MPs to cross over prior to September 16.

But let us just imagine if this kind of situation continues to happen. Everytime frogs jump, change of government.”

You are missing the point. If Anwar had got the 30 MPs to cross over, then Anwar would / should call for snap elections to confirm the mandate of the rakyat for a new government for our country. Which is exactly what we want for Perak – snap state elections for the mandate from the rakyat!

How can police take over state building when MB has not resigned & 3 PR ADUNS have had resigned which now is a cause of action in the High Court Ipoh. Being an ex LP he should have considered this and definitely Bee End is not commanding a majority….

    But in BOLEHLAND everything bolehlah!!!!!

Do see what Thailand King had done, how his majestic show the respect from Thailand ppl.

You are right, the rakyat of Malaysia ( all States ) cannot rely on the royalty to uphold democracy in this country. The Institution of Royalty is very much imbedded into private businesses relying on contracts hand out by the Government of the day.

I was wrong, I had this belief that the Perak Royal Household would have the interest of the people at heart.

It is grossly injustice to the people of Perak, how is possible that 3 low down unprincipled individual be allowed to influence the demise of a fairly democratically elected Goverment by tens of thousand voters of Perak. The people made their choice on March 8th 2008. The people of Perak should be given back that choice.

I can say, we can do nothing to influence the decision of the Palace since an official letter had been issued by the Palace and the PM has sealed the deal.

Well, only the Almighty God can do something to change this sad day for the people of Perak. I pray, the Almighty God will.

Someone should collect all pleas and views of the people and sent them to HRH Naszrin.

From the dark ages until now, sultans have always been a “liability” to the rakyat. Many fell while serving the royal dumbos. Now, when it is so obvious that BN is using dirty tactics to win back power in perak, and it is very crucial for the Sultan to make wise decision, the Sultan is still thinking of his own bloody self.

I pity the rakyat of Perak. Now if Pirate Khir Toyo wants to use the same tactics… let’s hope sultan of selangor will hv more wisdom. Else… the SELANGOR PEOPLE will rise in anger…

Please give back the democracy to the people of Perak, let them have another election. Otherwise the anger will keep growing inside their heart. Those politician whom jump to another party must get approval from the rakyat first and not from the so called King!! to decide who will form the government!!!

There must be a good reason for the Sultan well learned in law and also once holding the highest office in Supreme Court took a lowly decision in support of the most corrupted Politician call Nargis, Peem in awaiting. No offence intended to the Sultan who was highly regarded until just now only, it is either he has been threatened with some secret files on him held by Nargis, or like all the other froggies that had been lured by huge sums of money offered by the most greedy of Corrupters called Nargis who used the nation’s coffers as his own kitty bank. Knowing very well that Nargis would not last the next GE, this is the best opportunity to make some good cash funds for keeps as the next Government under PKR will be clean and righteous for the God, King, People and Country.

Not realizing that Corruptions breed even more Corruptions and this is the vicious circle and the people of Perak are ones who would suffer in the long run and they will not forget what a Sultan they have had. If Narjis and UMNO is in Power it is most likely that the nation’s coffers would be decimated and there will be nothing left for our Children’s Children, therefore make sure the UMNO along with all their goons are thrown out the next election.

God bless you the people of Malaysia

Just to import some statements made by the Royal Household of Perak as quoted in Malaysian Insider
    Quotes :

    The Judiciary
Sultan Azlan Shah: “Nothing destroys more the confidence the general public, or the business community has in the judiciary than the belief that the judge was biased when he decided a case, or that the judge would not be independent where powerful individuals or corporations are the litigants before him.”
Raja Nazrin Shah: “In the last two decades, judicial independence and integrity have eroded. The result is a lack of confidence in the judicial system and the complete disregard for the law by some quarters. These are dark stains on our honour and reputations and they have the potential to weaken, if not destroy the nation.”

    Good Governance
Raja Nazrin Shah: Only those who are capable, responsible and scrupulously honest should be allowed to serve in positions of leadership. Those who are inefficient, incompetent and, most importantly, corrupt, should be held in absolute contempt. It was very important, he added, to have leaders who were earnest in building unity and did not resort to religious or ethnic posturing to further their careers.

These were strong righteous statements made by the Royal Household of Perak. They gave the people of Malaysia so much hope for the future. What a let down !

How did the 3 ” crossover” assemblymen fair in HRH Raja Nazrin ‘s above statement on GOOD GOVERNANCE ? If on a scale 1-10; 1 being the least fit and 10 being best fit to HRH ‘s view of a capable, efficient, honest etc. I wonder how the HRH gauge them to be ?

This is trully a sad day for all the people who love this country MALAYSIA so Blessed and who professes strongly about democracy, fair and just society , by the RULE OF THE LAW.

Sad day indeed for me. Not because of the change of government, but because of the mentality of our elected representatives. Should they wanted to switch camps, please do so with a better dignified reason. As it is now, none of them produced any intelligence or acceptable logic to support their actions. Ulterior motives are abundant here. Especially that guy who changed parties liked changing his clothes.

And that for me it smells dishonesty of the highest degree. Dishonest for the people who had elected them in the first place, dishonest to the party that allowed them to be people representatives and dishonest to their friends and supporters who had put their faith in them.

Trust me, in the next GE, I will not vote for this kind of politicians anymore. Doesnt matter from which party.

And democratic or not, anti-hopping law should now be implemented. Should anybody wanted to jump ships, they should resigned their post first and a new election should be call. Only then, the people will have the right to agree with the action of the politician or otherwise.

  103. Hitam.Had says:

As much as I dislike the BN, I cannot see why they should not be given the chance to try to form a government. If they fail, then the Sultan will have no choice but to agree to dissolve the State Assembly.

The questionable behaviour, lack of loyalty and ethics etc, of the self declared independents is a separate issue from whether a viable and functional government can be in place at this point in time.

We need to accept the fact that governments have fallen in other democracies when members of their own party either fail to vote against or even worse, support a motion of no confidence against their own government. Is this not what the PR was hoping for in our Parliament?

When he had the golden opportunity to do right by his Rakyat, he gave them a right royal letdown. He forgot his righteous and join the ‘brigands’ out to seize the government of his state. He refused to answer his rakyat calls and cries and to say that he greatly disappointed his rakyat, that would be the understatement on this “Day of Infamy in Perak”.
His Rakyat had such high hopes, after his talk, and that this righteous ruler would stand by his Rakyat but what did we get in return. He is now willing to offer the governance of his Rakyat to a band of men, amongst whom are katak and allegedly corrupted ones.
Why has this “Day of Infamy in Perak” been allowed to happen? Is there something that the Rakyat is unaware? Will His Royal Highness enlighten the Rakyat.
There is a higher power than His Royal Highness who will abjucate on this “Day of Infamy in Perak” and the day of reckoning will be upon those who have allowed it to take place. Justice will be done then. Rakyat keep your eyes open and see.

But now, in contrast, he seemed to make haste to swear in this illegitimate BN clowns. Where is the wisdom this time? Does this sultan really care about the rakyat? One is made to wonder ….

Sultan of Perak has always been an eye opener to me,well respected, humble well educated ,but not now when he has not been fair to the rakyat,
what ever decision he has decided has brought his moral down to earth.i am sorry i have to put it this way.
Imagine 2 corrupted cases still pending but is allowed to swear in to be the the new goverment, what a joke,or was the sultan not aware. It is the rakyat’s right not the sultan’s

Will the real slim shady please stand up? PKR or BN -> blaming each other for all sorts – about time they look around them what they need to do for the country! Am really tired of this! We cannot continue to wait longer …

    shetanirajim,

Is the Sultan a citizen? Then he should follow the rule of the laws of this country. I saw the video on Malaysiakini. http://www.malaysiakini.tv/video/16664

Looks like the yellow belly in the yellow plated car fled the scene. He could have stopped and reprimanded the cops for their “beyond the call of duty” acts. Shame, he just split. Another gaji buta. The world is watching.. See what money can buy!!

ISA as an excuse? Sure, I’d love to help you out…now, which way did you come in? Just out of curiosity, are your parents siblings?

  154. @#&* says:

Sultan “chi liao bi”. The rakyat wasted our money to feed him and expect him to protect our rights and welfares but instead he misused his mandate to go against us. If the rakyat can have a vote, I am sure the Perakians would want to stop all financial aids to him and strip him of all titles and assets and see him begging in the streets or scavenger for food from the bins together with the stray dogs. Don’t bother to spit on his face, it will be an insult to your saliva. He is a leech and a corpse dressed in royal attire but no soul and no brain. Live on the people’s money and expect the rakyat to respect him. My arse! Shame on you.

  155. hahaha says:

I am crying for MB Nizar😦
The sultan should have taken his advise to dissolve the assembly and call for a fresh election for perak. The sultan appointed MB Nizar in the first place then now the sultan ask him to resign. I don’t understand .. no not at all ….hak siapa sekarang? Now is Voter’s right HAK RAKYAT LAH!

  156. kulispeak says:

Kuli said, Nizar is still the Chief Minister of Perak.

  159. Beggar Vance says:

Justice and Ruler are synonyms; thus the respect that is accorded to the ruler. Yet the fundamentals of justice is that, not only it is done but must be seen to be done.
When the Ruler of Perak, chose Nizar as the MB, he made justice “visible” i.e. While the commoner was looking at the trees, the ruler saw the forest, at least that was the wisdom contained in the appointment of Nizar, who represented a minority party in the state assembly. In the present development, that wisdom is absolutely missing. For a neutral person, it doesn’t make common sense or in another word, neither there is a tree or the forest. All that can be seen in the land of Justice is a barren land!

  160. Beheaded Sultan of Perak says:

I shall donate my head for Justice, FairPlay and the Malaysian way of life.

Why not? At least history will remember me as the King Louis XVI {Part II)

NAJIB HAS BROUGHT NEW MEANING TO THE WORD “CURI AYAM” THE CURRENT BN PERAK GOVERNMENT IS A “CURI AYAM” GOVT.

  162. vsp says:

It was said by many that the hopping game was started by Anwar. I think it’s totally fallacious. The hopping game was actually started by the BN immediately after the 2008 electoral tsunami. Toyo was trying his best to topple the Selangor government by enticing some PAS members, led by Hassan Ali. This was confirmed by Abdullah Badawi himself. So Anwar, in order to protect the fledging coalition from the BN wolves, decided to initiate the crossovers game to confuse the BN.

In Perak, it took a glacial 2 weeks for the sultan to recognize the Pakatan government. In the meantime, the BN was given time to feverishly try to buy some Pakatan MPs but was unsuccessful. Then the Sultan refused to appoint the MB from the DAP and instead chose the one from PAS hoping that the Pakatan coalition would collapse due to different ideologies between DAP and PAS. Fortunately, DAP swallowed their pride and was able to accept and work with Nizar. At that time I had the sneaking suspicion that the Sultan was trying to sabotage the Pakatan state government from forming. Recent event strengthens my suspicions.

The present Perak imbroglio is caused by the Sultan himself. Nobody questions his right to accept or reject the dissolution of the state assembly. But I think he make a terrible mistake: instead of stopping at this point he went beyond his powers and issue a diktat to bundle off and humiliate Nizar. The democratic process should have proceeded from the stage of rejection but the Sultan short-circuit it by swearing in the replacement MB from UMNO in lightning speed even before the democratic process could begin. Thus the constitutional crisis of the two Mentri Besars.

Another thing: would any insane employer hire a person with dubious reputation into his organisation? This is exactly what the respected Sultan of Perak has done with his famous interview with the three unsavoury characters.

Out of this episode I can conclude:

    1) The greatest loser is the Sultan himself. He was one of the most enlightened and respected sultans in the country. With this incident, straight thinking and good judgement seem to have mysteriously abandoned him and he could have short-circuited himself from being the sharpest legal mind and well-beloved sultan and landed himself into the rogues’ gallery.

    2) Would the Perak Watergate be the Waterloo for Najib?

    3) Would Anwar Ibrahim have the last laugh?

    Let’s wait and watch.

Anyway, is that not what we want Anwar Ibrahim to do? We want Anwar to form a new federal government by enticing at least 30 Parliamentarians from Barisan Nasional to cross over to the opposition.”
