Will they haul up Anwar Ibrahim now that he is causing “uneasiness” amongst the people with his daily statements on the change of government?

I thought it was only the UMNO mad men who are “uneased” over his statement.

Who are these group of ‘concerned’ Malaysians? Poor souls. I remember they arrested a reporter under the ISA because her life was threatened?

I wonder if this group is asking for the same protection?

Only yesterday, “Deputy police chief Ismail Omar issued a stern warning against those speculating and spreading rumours of a government takeover. He said that these speculations were causing instability in the country, which has been abuzz with talks of a change in government. (Malaysiakini).

These supposedly UMNO members who lodged the report seem to fit the statement by Ismail.

According to theSUN:

A group of ‘concerned’ Malaysians have lodged a police report against Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for causing uneasiness amongst the people with his repeated statements on a change in government.

One of them, Wan Abidin Zain, 45, told reporters gathered outside the George Town police headquarters in Jalan Patani that Anwar’s repeated actions and statements on a change in government have had the people worried.

“He is threatening the stability and peace of the country with his repeated allegations of a change in government,” he said.

Wan Abidin, who is believed to be an Umno member, said the police report is not made because of political differences.

“We are all lodging this report against Anwar as concerned Malaysians who are worried for the stability and peace of the country.”

He added that Anwar is being immoral and irresponsible for issuing such statements.

The group of about 25 men, believed to be Umno members, lodged the police report about 2.30pm on Friday.

Wonder why they did not lodge report against the current lameduck leaders? If Anwar is not credible enough, why bother to respond to his claims? If responding to his claims, why come out to say all sorts and causing public unrest. The public unrest and economy issue does not need Anwar to light the fire.

The ruling gov really running out of excuse to quash dissent! PR, better move faster and get these crumbling gov out pronto!

Can other people lodge any report against Wan Abidin Zain for lodging a report about his group’s flippant interpretation of events? Or is his group’s feelings/concern declaratedly more legitimate than other people’s feelings/concern? Thinking heads get curious.

Can we lodge a police report against wan abidin zain for misrepresenting the facts. They do not represent Malaysians and our concern is the lack of progress and leadership under the present government.

But yes, this staged ‘protest’ could very well paved the way for stern police intervention.

This is going to a great test for PR supporters. We can still hold the urge to get wild protesting on the streets when they captured our bloggers, but could we still be in this way if they capture DSAI? If we do demonstrate, they’ll have a reason to capture even more. Our PR leaders need to think some strategies here.

We don’t feel uneasiness. We are looking forward for the new gomen.

Why worry about Anwar. Who want to listen to him ? certainly the whole world and all Malaysians will be listening to the government. Do you think the rakyat will believe Anwar ? The government said Anwar is a dreamer. So let him be. Let him talk. Why should the gomen be worried ?

I have one principle “..don’t talk to tress…don’t quarrel with a mad man…” So the gomen can turn on its deaf ear. Pak Lah and the Plice should not be scared. The concern Malaysians don’t be scared either.

I don’t believe there is enough opposition to change the government. Come on BN, stay calm.

Well..if one can come out with a book…..”50 reasons…why Anwar Ibrahim cannot be PM”….10 years ago..and Mahathir used that…to jail him for 6 years…expect the unexpected…..and wake up to realised.. we voted two monsters for past 27 years.
And the monsters have so many small toothless children.
But lets hope Anwar is right…that Dollah is not a monster..he is his friend……..but still sleeping….living in fool’s paradise…with a state of denials mentality.
That has hope….that when he wakes up to the real world….he will make right decisions..for all Malaysians….and be known as the only gentleman PM from UMNO…forever loved by all…doing his last act…as…
“People’s PM”…by handing the power of governing to Anwar Ibrahim..after seeing the list.
So easy…just give Anwar the appointment….and stop talking cock and bull.
    But will he do that?
I believe Dollah is not evil minded ..like Mahathir or Najib.

No bloody wonder when you connect ISA they cannot tell you where they are going to lock you up. This is because the police themselves cannot read the Jawi signs. Not all Malays can read Jawi.

Who is that dimwit who suggested writing road signs in Jawi? Give that bugger a brain transplant.

According to BN/Umno power tradition,Anwar was supposed to be d next PM after Mahathir but our Tun who is anti West ” hijacked ” Anwar’s prospect to become PM by cooking up all kinds of allegations. Coz’ of Tun’s ego, he didnt want Anwar to be next PM as he knew he was more popular and dynamic and capable than him so he picked the lame AAB to be PM to make Tun shine. He knew AAB could not take the job as a PM and it was Tun witty irresponsible act for the nation to suffer. The rakyat have been “colonized” by Tun & BN-Umno for 23 years and now his comrades who have tasted honey for 23 years would find it hard to reform to simple life. How to reform how to agree within Umno/BN between the old fellas and the new blood in Umno eg Zaid & others who truly want reform. This will go on & on…until Malaysia bankrupt.Rakyat decide your own destiny.Who you want to choose for next PM?Anwar or Najib?

  27. pywong says:

We should treat the uneasiness of these concerned Malaysians seriously. Please don’t make fun of them. We should appeal to the Police to detain them under the ISA to protect them from themselves.

  28. wits0 says:

“Who cares abt what Abidin say and do?!”

Yes, but what he is doing represents the overbearing arrogance of umno’s assumption of divine right to rule – and bully any in the process of doing so for the last 51 years. It is a anti-principle to the power of governance derived from the people which they never attempted to honor and cannot understand because it has taken that ‘right’ for granted. It is a system that promotes the opposite of ennobling the consciousness of common people but instead breeds cynical and predatory rogues.

When Utusan/Toyo spin a tale, Teresa get arrested under ISA. When, e.g., PEWARIS, GAPENA, GPMS, the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association and trouble makers such as Khir Toyo and Ahmad Ismail go overboard, the police close an eye.

Anyone with a conscience and a brain can see that this state of affair cannot be acceptable and they know that unless leaders like Anwar changes things, some, the established nonsense of the given system under umno/bn will stay put. 51 years is enough to show without a shadow of a doubt that they have no desire or will to change whatsoever.

Mr Flip flop will not arrest Anwar? I wouldn’t buy a bridge if one’s for sale.

As feeling of unease can last years, keep them in Kamunting for years.

Anwar’s repeated stance on a change of government gives me (us, like-minded Malaysians) THE beacon of hope that I (and fellow like-minded Malaysians) will be LESS worried in the days ahead!

I believe this change will bring about sturdiness and perhaps allow Malaysians and Malaysia to flourish much more!

It is the lack of astute leadership that can threaten or cause the lack of stability and peace! The prospects of a change in government does not necessarily threaten stability and peace, instead it is perhaps those who are threatened by such a change who would really threaten the stability and peace.

As a concerned Malaysian too, I do not share such sentiments as expressed in the report. I believe it is Anwar’s moral right and responsibility to stand up to the present government and to offer himself as a credible option.

It is my democratic right to voice my believe in a need for change in government as much as it is Anwar’s democratic right to lead in this change.

The very act that these clowns made a police report is a prelude to further sinister evil acts. Since bumno is incapable of learning anything ‘wise’ due to their stunted neural pathways, it is incumbent for them to have a fallback or ‘backdoor’ position (anal fixated): Police report made!
Being mightily confused and extremely anxious due to their own incompetence – they persistently practice ‘big stick’ politics a’la Pres. Eisenhower’s view. Problem is they can’t keep quiet. Even in their death throes, they mess up. They will not go easily…
Since the rabid injured maddogs are barking like that, you may expect our most efficacious HM SHA (who btw, now blames the Polis for the drama) to wield the ‘magic pen’ in connivance with dopey and the dwarves.
There is the distinct possibility that with their scrambled goo (which they call brains) will use bISA not only on DSAI as but Ops Lalang Terbakar – all threats, not realizing the magnitude of dissent. Scorched earth thing, including themselves – not that i’m speculating.
Note if Toyol and Utus-an mala fide reports is enuff to get Teresa into bISA, what more the MT (Ma’geli’s Tertiggi) can do… no need to bring in their maggoty unmentionable servile co-parties.

It is very Sad that the legacy of Malaysian Independence is reduced by this Moronic Flip Flop Coward into great disrepute and a laughing stock of the whole world and knowing very well that the UMNO Government has technically collapsed and but he has decided to shamelessly still cling on to power via dubious means like hiding himself via using of the ISA and we cannot imagine that the Malaysia Moronic Flip Flop Coward has now stoop so low and using the Police Deputy IGP as his willing tools especially the Deputy IGP’s clearly taking side as the Police must be neutral and should be not politiking for him.

    (2) 1st suspect behind Ahmad Ismail racist saga and henceforth which may entails (1) – Mahathir Mohamad

I could not imagine a local despot (chieftain) like Ahmad Ismail dared to overtly challenged AAB and tamed the PM in the 1st meeting resulting AAB saying Ahmad was misquoted by the Sin Chiew reporter.

The emboldened Ahmad Ismail went further by referring to Chinese in Malaysia “American Jews” and other inflammatory remarks and when finally and inevitably when Ahmad was suspended by AAB, he promised to tour the country, UMNO divisions to explain his cause and uttered “AAB memang berani”!

You UMNO baruas never learn, still living under the tempurung with your racist ketuanan Melayu when Malaysians of all races voted for Anwar’s Ketuanan Rakyat on 8 Mar general election and 26 Aug Permatang Pauh by-election. UMNO is on its way out, kaput, finish! Hidup Anwar, Hidup Ketuanan Rakyat! Mampoi UMNO! Mampoi Ketuanan Melayu!

  64. Lallang exile says:

    Guys,

why was no mention made about the fact that the sodomy charges will be heard on Sept 24?

mat jenin is calling for parliament to reconvene sept 23 in the hope that he could be PM, thus negating the need to attend the hearing. but as former PM and seasoned MP, he knows full well that this cannot take place since 14 days notice is needed for an emergency sitting.

Come Sept 24, Mat Jenin would need to wake up and face up the charges.

Will AAB put the ISA on him? Have we forgotten who let Mat jenin out of jail not too long ago to be free to pursue his dreams?

    AAB of course!!

Now, no matter what people say about our PM, the very fact that he is confident enough to let the snake out of the bag – knowing full well that one day, that very snake might gobble him – endears him to me. He did what a a decent person would do where Anwar was concerned.

If it was the other way round, AI – like his old boss M – would never, ever release AAB from jail.

Ponder on this, fellow malaysians, before you decide on anything.

I would say let’s stop the hallucinations/conjectures/dreams and start thinking about what we want the Govt to do to help us out in the financial holocaust spreading to our shores soon.

AND, it’s a good test of the three opposition states of waht they are capable of in a crisis like this.

  65. Markky says:

You think BN can solve its problem by putting Anwar under ISA? BN actual enemy isn’t Anwar but the rakyat who are fed up with them and are clamouring for change. If they put Anwar under ISA, that would be like putting the last nail into its coffin. The rakyat would rise up and send BN into the footnote of history.

  66. maxtor says:

Benda tu bukan senang2 je nak buat. Tapi kalau betul2 Anwar ni masuk ISA bagus jugak. Dia ni kalau ada, macam2 cerita fitnah dan kekecohan yang dia buat. Keadaan huru hara ni memberi kesan besar kepada negara.

Not DSAI as the letter to PM was signed by 3 PR leaders…..not DSAI alone. ISA if used must be used against all 3.

Go ahead and arrest DSAI or all PR leaders…..the rakyat, I believe, will not hesitate to go to the streets demanding the gomen to resign…….go on and test their patience……so far 2 latest ISAed detainees T Kok & Tan HC were all released UNCONDITIONALLY……police & gomen abuse of ISA without evidence. In Teresa’s case only now the police are investigating the residents & mosque officials…….yet to call kir toyol & journalist of Utusan amno.

Tan HC & Teresa Kok must walk the talk & SUE all parties……do not let the issue die. In Malaysia, favourite saying “hangat hangat tahi ayam” hot hot chicken shit……that is what & how issues in Malaysia will die off as they started…..soon all will forget….always quoted by Mahadey Kutty.

God bless DSAI,PR,RPK & the discriminated, harassed, victimized, etc

If the PDRM are not bias they should tell them that we will accept the police report but that is more of a political issues.

Than the PDRM need to make a statement that “We are here to serve the rakyat and we will clamp down on anyone that try to stir incidence towards other rakyat. Take this as a stern warning to all rakyat. PDRM cannot stop any parties from excesicing their freedom of speech so please act civil.”

Yet our PDRM cannot even make themselves sound non-bias maybe they are acting on their owners command I am not sure but a dog will always be a dog especially he/she has bitten so many people and take food that doesn’t belong to them. So, now they need their owner to cover their arse from being cage.

VW or any other company would jump into a contract with Protong because of the lucrative pricing and protectionism with “other” duties and taxes which counter AFTA schedules of duties and taxes. Once we comply fully with AFTA without “other” bouyant taxes (EXCISE or OTHER) no company would become interested in Protong.

All his life whenever he were to get a sub con contract, under table money would be negotiated. Well he thinks it is the past now as Penang is under a PR Gov. How wrong was he. There has been a tender out for a 100 Million project, and he too tried to bid for it. Guess what, an officer came and told him to fork out 10% of the awarding contract (10 Million) if he wish to get it.

    Please comment.

He knows AAB won’t cal for an emergency session just to have a vote of no confidence. As such, Anwar has until Oct 23rd to get the required MPs to crossover before the Parliament restarts.

Did this cross your mind that he’s calling for an emergency parliamentary vote of no confidence falls on tuesday 23rd oct . That this coincides with his sodomy case hearing which starts on that 24 Oct. ! That he hope his case is thrown out of court due to the new Katakcrazy govt . ?
Why can’t he wait until parliament convenes immediately after Hari Raya which is just about two weeks away ! Why does he need to push for it to be on tuesday ? Why can’t it be after his court hearing ?
My guess would be as good as yours , another DECEPTION in the making of playing mind games .

  80. Hey, I don’t think that Anwar will be detained under the ISA for seemingly causing “uneasiness” amongst the people. Why? B’cause our great racist A I was let off the hook and just being suspended for a mere 3 year term by UMNO. BN government cannot make the same foolish mistake to show the world of their one-sidedness in their administration.
So, not to worry but just be patient and wait for “CHANGE”

  81. Khalid says:

If you are a ‘concerned’ Malaysian, then I think you should be concerned about Umno and BN’s incompetence in running the country .
Corruption and abuse of power is what you should be concerned about. Inflation and economic failure due to mismanagement of funds is what you should be concerned about. Using barbaric laws like ISA to arrest innocent people who dare to voice out their opinion and speak out the truth is what you should be concerned about. Manipulating the judiciary system
( “Correct…Correct…Correct” ) is what you should be concerned about. Doesn’t all these sound too familiar ? Or is the ‘concerned’ Malaysian ignorant of these facts?
We the majority of the rakyat who are the TRUE concerned Malaysians do concern about all these. We do not feel any uneasiness with Datuk Seri Anwar’s claims. For us he is our hope in reforming and reshaping the country towards a better Malaysia. Sept 16 marks the rising of a new dawn where the sun starts shining its first ray of hope. The sun will eventually rise to give a new daylight of happiness to all Malaysians.

    – Go learn from him Imam about morality (eg no anal sex)
    – Learn democracy ie dont try desperate means like bribing other MPs to cross-over. Cos these will end up in jail for sure.
    – Dont hope on the hopeless ie the Americans to guarantee him the PM post for betraying his own country.

And for his own good, take an early retirement. Malaysians are too well informed about his hopelessly poor leadership record.

AIG woes may have far-reaching implications after all
    COMMENT
    By DANNY YAP

A Sept 17 statement issued by American International Assurance Bhd’s (AIA) corporate communications department saying that it was “business as usual” for AIA and that it would not be impacted by the financial losses incurred by parent American International Group (AIG), appears to have failed to reassure jittery policyholders.

A day earlier, the US Federal Reserve had swooped in to save AIG from bankruptcy by providing a whopping US$85bil secured revolving facility to AIG for two years to ensure it could meet its liquidity requirements.

Obviously AIG must have been over-geared and facing cashflow problems for sometime until the debt level became impossible to hide from the public, and its policyholders.

What happened to the pride in corporate transparency and more importantly, accoutability that many established companies, especially in the US claim to advocate? What were AIG auditors doing all this while?

To be fair, the financial loss is an AIG problem, but unfortunately its operations around the world, including Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong to name a few, have been dragged into the picture.

In Malaysia, AIA is a locally incorporated insurer with 60 years’ market presence, a 23-branch network and over 1,000 full-time employees and 8,000 agents.

In the statement, AIA chief executive officer Khor Hock Seng said the company was well capitalised and maintained “separate reserves” in Malaysia in line with the regulations to meet obligations to policyholders and that over 96% of its assets were invested locally.

While this information brings some degree of consolation, it’s no comfort to AIA policyholders to know that AIG was going bankrupt until the US government came to its rescue.

And in spite of the bailout and AIA management’s reassurance, policyholders in Malaysia and Singapore are still fearful that AIA might not be able to able to meet its obligations to all customers.

In fact, some policyholders in Malaysia interviewed by StarBiz now wish to terminate their policies.

Over in Singapore, it has been reported that policyholders were swarming the AIA office to get further reassurance or possibly looking to terminate their policies.

Can we blame them? After all, anyone in the same predicament would be worried.

Many policyholders have faithfully made regular premium payments for years, believing their contracts to be iron-clad and that they would be covered for life.

But the AIG financial crisis has undoubtedly sown seeds of doubt as to how independent AIA is from its parent, if not among the general public, at least among policyholders.

Some policyholders question why AIA issued a press release to reassure policyholders only after the bailout instead of communicating directly with them before the AIG issue blew up.

“If AIA were truly independent, especially in terms of its finances, it could have issued a statement much earlier, when AIG’s faith was still in doubt,” they pointed out.

They felt that even if AIA Malaysia were well capitalised, there was no guarantee it would be able to honour its obligations to all policyholders should the axe fall.

    Lallang exile (15:29:22) :

    Guys,

here’s a gem from jakarta post.

JAKARTA, Sept 19 (Bernama) — Indonesia’s The Jakarta Post English daily, commenting today on the political development in Malaysia, said the (possible) act of lawmakers defecting from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition to the opposition does not make them democracy’s soldiers but political opportunists.

Based on Indonesia’s own painful experience, it said, a change of allegiance at the elite level was not equivalent to a change in fundamental beliefs toward the primacy of civil society.

Malaysian Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, advisor of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), has been claiming that he has the backing of a sufficient number of BN defectors to give his Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition a simple majority in parliament.

“We fear that what we are seeing in Malaysia is neither revolution nor evolution, but is instead a potential transition from one power to another.

“But Pakatan Rakyat too must show it is more than just a vehicle for Anwar,” it said.

The paper said the performance of Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as minister of finance, a portfolio he assumed on Wednesday, would gauge his acceptability as Malaysia’s next leader.

The paper noted that “on the other end of the spectrum, the opposition coalition of Pakatan Rakyat under Anwar has been big on headlines but lacking in actual policy proposals”.

For BBC Chairman: Explain Your Involvement in Port Klang Free Zone Scandal
    20 09 2008
Police report on questionable RM1.81 billion PKA/ Westports land deal

The New Straits Times (September 20, 2008) captioned its front page, REVEALED: ‘Secret Offers’ to woo BN MPs. The full report appears on page 4. The UMNO controlled paper which has been spinning and putting out outrageous stories on behalf of the Badawi government carried the comments of Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club chairman. He alleges that “[S]ome prominent businessmen are in cahoots with the opposition to get Barisan Nasional members of Parliament to defect from the ruling coalition”.

As for Datuk Seri Tiong, he should come out in the open and explain his involvement with a group of key UMNO and MCA politicians in the Port Kelang Free Zone scandal, where they made huge profits (hundreds of millions of ringgit) from the sale of land [PN 7324 nr. 67894] in Pulau Indah at the expense of a local cooperative in a convoluted deal. Exploiting the rakyat is not really help them. In my book, it is cheating the rakyat by denying them of a fair deal.

On PKFZ, I am reminded of the assurance given by MCA Presidential candidate, Dato Ong Tee Keat, who promised when he took over the Ministry of Transport that he would investigate and make a full disclosure on the PKFZ scandal, including the reasons why a respected Middle East investor group withdrew from this deal with the Port Kelang Authority. He has yet to keep his word.

As far as Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing is concerned, he must realise that he is living in a glass house and that being the case, he should not throw stones at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his colleagues in Pakatan Rakyat.

Finally, what did you and Bung Radin Mokhtar do in Taiwan recently? The ACA should investigate you and your Deputy Backbencher chairman. —Din Merican

Its totally destructive the manner that Bodowi administration has rule the nation the last 5 years. From a Penghulu he has turn into a zombie, not aware of whats happening on the ground till he had to take a train to experience the transport woes which has been around for ages!!! Whatever happened to the agreement done by the BN regime with the highway operators, still under OSA? Before the March 8th election, there were talks that the Highway Agreement were to be declassified ,but nothing came out of this. This robbers are making a huge profit DAILY. When PR form the government, those toll plazas should be demolished and let the respective state government manage and maintain the highways. The agreement should also be publish in the papers for all to see what has taken place between the Highway Concessionaires and the BN regime . Defections are wrong.

No matter what the opposition promises.

    1) by accepting that defections are right, we are compromising our stand on what is morally wrong.

    2) a govt which compromises on this will compromise on other matters. think about it. it’s the same play with a different cast uttering the same lines, that’s all.

    3) opposition’s record untested yet.

    4) anwar ‘s record so far shows he’s no different from M or AAB in all aspects – as education minister, he agitated for the closure of chinese schools to boost his politcal clout; i need not expand further on his record as as finance minister.

    5) leading us back to the same scenario.

Hardselling a product called “Good governance” with accompanying promises might work on some. Some would say that the marketing of Anwar – backed and financed by the Americans – have been pretty successful.

But i believe the majority of the rakyat are aware of what’s going on and won’t buy it.

I’m betting that come the next GE, the PKR coalition will not do as well as this round. Why? Because more of the rakyat would have begun to see through what they stand for.

JOHOR BARU : The Internal Security Act will not be reviewed or repealed for now, said Home Minister Datuk Syed Hamid Albar. He Said such preventive laws still needed for the people to live in peace and security.
    – What he meant to say is that ‘People” ie corrupt politician and cronies need ISA to protect their interest. RPK as a dutiful Malaysian revealing corruptions and incompetence of the government is being detained under ISA however at no time did RPK incite violence or create a national security incident. Therefore the “people” Home Minister is referring to, must be the corrupt politician and cronies that need ISA for peace and security.
However, he said a review could take place “when the time was right”
    – What he meant was that at present the government do not have answers to the many corruptions and injustice that were revealed by RPK. Therefore the time is not right.
Asked about various ministers speaking out against the Act, he said they were entitled to their “own views”
    – What he meant was that although Malaysia is a democratic country, UMNO has the final say. UMNO can do what they like and when they like. The voice of the rakyat and their elected MPs are irrelevant.
So there you have it…… his statement can only be logical in the above context.

At least leaders of 3 Pakatan states have done quite a bit despite the constraints imposed upon them by UMNO. Two senior leaders of PAS have already started to build bridges with the Catholic community by attending masses with them. Would UMNO have done that? Free water, the handing over of land grants, introducing the CAT system, and now Penang has WiFi at no costs, whereas UMNO have signed up a similar deal at a cost of RM1.3b, and this is coming out from the taxpayers’ pockets. As with regard to the fuel increase, DSAI knew that the price could be brought down, but UMNO say NO. True enough, during the Permatang Pauh by-election, the PM announced a .15 sens reduction. So Anwar was right and did I not read somewhere in this that DSAI have no inkling about economics. If he is not conversant in Economics, then UMNO must be a bigger fool/idiot/moron for making him the Finance minister. Like it or not, with all the in-fighting in UMNO, there is no way, the country is going to managed well. It is time for a clean government to take over.

Two senior leaders of PAS have already started to build bridges with the Catholic community by attending masses with them. Would UMNO have done that?

Where were they when Teresa was arrested under the ISA ? didn’t see any comment by them ! Where were they when there was a mass vigil at the church ? they were no where to be seen ! If they had attended it would have been the greatest news in all the blogs . Ans political show !

Free water, only for Selangor , Why not for all states under PR ? like Penang for instance ? Free water are for those who use less than RM20 if I am not mistaken . How many Chinese fall into the category in Selangor ? Very minimal . You know who falls into this category ? Illegal immigrants and squatters . They have electricity and water , go take a look at the squatter houses . So the rakyat is paying for these illegal immigrants and squatters !

introducing the CAT system : CAT system only in Penang , but they were intro by the previous Govt ten years ago and already operational . Nothing new .

now Penang has WiFi at no costs, whereas UMNO have signed up a similar deal at a cost of RM1.3b, and this is coming out from the taxpayers’ pockets :
He said the project was different from the Federal Government-initiated High Speed Broadband (HSBB) project costing RM11.3bil. This is for a I quote the project was different , its a different project covering the whole of Malaysia , pls don’t confuse yourself .The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) has proposed that the “Penang Free WiFi” project be stopped until the state government can prove that it is safe. This is again nothing new , there is free wifi already available in all the super outlets like Gurney plaza and others .

True enough, during the Permatang Pauh by-election, the PM announced a .15 sens reduction. So Anwar was right and did I not read somewhere in this that DSAI have no inkling about economics. The crude oil came down during that time . In fact they just brought forward the reduction two weeks earlier instead of the 1st .

Go to more blogs , read more opinions and you’ll be wiser !

    dear Lallang exile (13:18:14),

    sorry for the late reply….

politically, there is nothing wrong with our stand of good governance. our leaders must uphold our stand i.e the PR or PKR stand. the stand will stay firm with deception or not! our stand in this multi racial and multi religious nation.

you have concluded that deception is wrong. where is the point. ia aske again, a mafia gang member decepting into a socially responsible organisation. what is morally wrong with that?

the gomen in waiting never compromise on the “stand”. the deceptors must accept the PR stand i.e “perjuangan” i.e the struggle to uphold “the stand” and who is compromising? i’m sure the rakyat(who of sound mind) will want good governance. they benefit from them

so after 51 years, there should not be another “group” to run the country? are you implying that this country belong to BN and umno only. where do you expect PR to “test” their skill? in Thailand?

so if Anwar, while in power(under drM) have made “mistakes” what are the mistakes. what have been done(by the present gomen) to rectify them(for the last 10 yrs.) there are still voices of racist, injustice, corruptions and it’s rampant! make your point clear.

what scenario? racist, nepotism, corruptions, cronism etc?

why is good governance is a hard selling product? is every malaysian now are with corrupt minds that they cannot accept good governance anymore.

i think if we are going for another GE, BN will have to pack their bags for good.

and if PR become gomen today, the cans of worms will be open tomorrow.

look at the 5 PR states…what have the previous gomen have done? can’t we just open our eyes for a moment…

    What about those Hindraf 5?
What about our daily’s expenses which keeps on increasing?
How much do you know about the present situation besides condemning Anwar?
We are talking about facts and we are not going to accuse someone who was being framed.
Unless proven guilty, Anwar is still innocent of any charges.
Unlike you, who always like to provoke him.
I cannot guarantee that Anwar can be a good PM but what we can’t tolerate is the present situation.
We only hope for Anwar to do good, that’s it!
If not Anwar, then who else could we prefer?
Please think properly before you comment on the blog the next time.

For those who posted on the AIA issue and other readers who may have similar concerns.

I have family members who hold AIA life insurance, and when the crisis with AIG started appearing last May, reaching a climax last week, I decided to dig deeper into the implications.

AIA is a fully owned subsidiary of AIG, but AIA is incorporated in Malaysia, and Bank Negara rules require the Life Insurance company to be heavily backed by assets and investments in Malaysia. So its not abou to close down shop.

The local AIA company is very solid, based on 2007 results, which are available on the Internet. I would say existing life insurance policies are reasonably safe, at least the base amount. Dividends could be badly affectd, though, just as dividends for any other life insurance, other forms of investment, savings could be in for a hammering in the next few months.

As a fully owned subsidiary, the local AIA unit would definitely be affected by the turmoil in its parent company. Over the next few months/ years, AIG would likely have to sell off its profitable assets to pay back the gigantic US Federal Government loan, which carries a 10.7% interest rate.

AIA, which is based on Hong Kong, has a solid balance sheet and profits – prime candidate to be sold off for cash.

So very likely, at some point the local AIA would be absorbed into another Insurance company. It is solid, profitable – many other insurance companies would not mind buying it, for the right price.

So, if you are an existing AIA Life Insurance holder, It’s right to keep an eye on what’s happening, but don’t get too worried about it at the moment.

If you are a young person, just starting to consider taking up life insurance, of course, stay away from AIA.

    machitam,

    you wrote:

“why is good governance is a hard selling product? ”

no, good governance is something all organisations – political or business – aspires to practise. i say aspire.

in the current meltdown on Wall Street, good governance was cast aside in the name of greed by politicians seeking to gratify their political backers.

The Bush gomen took down the barriers/firewalls between financial institutions like insurance companies and brokerages until everything was so fudged resulting in the current crisis.

in PKR’s case, it is still an aspiration. i.e. it is not proven yet that good governance will happen under pkr.

besides anwar, the likes and antics of pkr supremos like tian chua doesn’t bid well to the possibility that good governance will indeed happen under their leadership.

penang under LGE is an example. the first thing he did to win popularity was to cancel the parking fines. now, there are a thousand more things he should pay priority to instead. And, like in animal farm, he has moved into the CM’s official residence contradicting himself as he had announced earlier that he wouldn’t since he would like to save money for the rakyat. this is just one example.

as for the mafia, God help us if you liken pkr to them. u must’ve watched Godfather and got carried away………………………..

    good dayy

every person is entitled to his/her views

they are trying to shut out opinions different to theirs, employing profanities and imposting other commentator’s names.

now, what difference is this to the ISA?

thank god i am sharing my thoughts in cyberspace, but even in cyberspace – in this blog to be precise – i could feel the anwarites trying to intimidate me by scare tactics and portraying me as a BN stooge.

I am not allowed to express my reservations, we must all agree that anwar is the best thing yet hat has ever happened to malaysia!

    good governance indeed!!!

  231. machitam says:

    lallang,

how can you relate the wall street crisis to good governance. there are a lot more ingredients require to make a good governance. do i hv to elaborate on this?
besides upholding justice, protect the rakyat, transparency, decisions benefiting all, modest taxes, expendituresetc
    eradicate corruptions, cronism and nepotism…

let alone, racial harmony, humanrights, freedom of expression etc

you can see all these negatives are condone by the current gomen for nearly 50 yrs. we need to see changes.

and again, what a lame excuse to judge LGE for the parking waiver and “official resident” issue.

parking waiver is to thanks the supporters who were “pick on” by City Hall during campaigning…

as for the official resident, and this one of the many malpractices by the previous gomen. they are reaping the rakyat high and dry!

in other word i don’t see any good governace in BN….
