“There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to out-carol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain…or so says the legend“.

Nice song and birdie for a Tuesday afternoon. A friend just told me that 916 is true. Hope the first thing DSAI does is to free all those detained under ISA or give them a proper trial, not just a dog shack.

    Susan ,

Thorn Birds are mystical birds like the Phoenix but PKR is real.
Reformasi is real. The new govt of the people by the people will go down in history just like the French Revolution but minus the bloodshed.

  7. Justice says:

Very beautiful and meaningful song. All our prayers are for the 916

Wei…..you UMNO idiots, stop disturbing me with all your desperate prayers. All the noise, I cannot hear the bird sing. Real bloody nuisance you UMNO twits.

I am very inspired by susan’s poem as usual as of the above line. Whether 9/16 is real someone asked, of course it is real. You will see it manifest not the way as claimed by Anwar, but “shock n awe”. When one do not expect to see one thing, then they will see it.😀

  14. So very poignant. So very beautiful. Yet so very painfully sad.

Afterall, the reality of life on earth is merely HOPES, FEARS, PAINS AND JOYS. Only the sequence varies and as according to God’s Plan for humanity.

May we Malaysians have the strength, the humility and the honor to survive this greatest test in our 51 years. Only man decides on how much of fear, pain, joy or hope that will be inflicted on his brothers and sisters.

    May sanity prevail.

Lim Kit Siang explained so clearly about 916 yesterday….trully specail numbers.
Anwar have spoken…again confirming he has more than 31 to cross over.
He is wise…caring and wanting nothing less than a peaceful transfer of power.
He said he want Dollah to announce it…with his proofs …showing to him…on an appointment….he wants with PM.
PM said…no such thing….go to work and don’t listen to lies from Anwar.
Malaysians want Dollah to meet Anwar…then tell us…the truth..after that.
    So simple.
For the love of the country and Malaysians and perform for once…as “People’s PM”….please do that…..dear PM!!

Ecclesiastes spoke of the vanity of life. Buddha taught that all of life is empty. The sufis share similar sentiment as the buddhists and the taoist’s position is best seen from the following description :

Joy and anger, sorrow and happiness, worries and regrets, indecision and fears come upon us by turns, with ever-changing moods, like music from the hollows, or like mushrooms from the damp. Day and night they alternate within us, but we cannot tell whence they spring. Alas! Alas! could we for a moment lay our finger upon the very cause?

….. to be harassed by the wear and tear of life, and to be driven along without possibility of arresting one’s course is not this pitiful indeed? To labor without cease all life, and then, without living to enjoy the fruit, worn out with labor, to depart, one knows not whither – is not this just cause for grief ?

    Chuang-tse (Chuangzi)

Buddha taught 4 types of happiness. The first is happiness from gratifying the senses. Very unstable and always changing. The second is happiness that comes from an ethical life. More stable as it comes from the character of the person. RPK enjoys such happiness. The third is inner peace that comes from meditation and this is abiding. The fourth is the happiness of liberation.

The bird, unfortunately comes under the first category.

DSAI who is the opposition leader, requests to meet the PeeAm, what’s wrong with that? Why must the PeeAm refused to meet?

In the Holy month of Ramadhan, people have to be friendly and polite to each other, right?

The political leaders must set good examples for others to follow, right?

If one party is not so friendly, we must still be friendly and polite, right?

Why must the PeeAm treats DSAI likes his enemy? Why can’t they just sit down and buka puasa together?

What’s wrong with that in the holy month of Ramadhan?

If he cannot manage and govern the country well, why don’t he just let DSAI and PR put Bolehland back to the track again?

After all, the PP by-election result has proved that PR has the support of the Rakyat.

Unless there are too many hidden agenda in the Fed Guomen.

Pain Uncle pain… this was a story related to me by a womanizer. He is rich and can afford the “youngest” in the world’s oldest profession and love to hear the agony of pleasure over and over again… He goes everywhere in search of it in his leisure time.

Such is the perverseness of man! When they have power and money they are blinded by it. Virtues, principles and righteousness goes out of the window. In place, darkness, ignorance, slumber, laziness creeps in and steals away life.

This womanizer in his old days suffered from syphillis and a host of unknown sickness. He lays in hospital for 3 months and spends a few hundred thousand trying to recover.

He obviously failed and in his dying days invited Thai gods, Indian gods, Sai Baba, Monks, taichi masters to heal him.

I asked him to accept our creator GOD but he refused. Jesus knew him but he refused to know Jesus Christ.

    Sad but True.

  20. Gadfly says:

Pain is a gift, if wisdom or insight is gained. If not, it is a punishment., a curse. Pain is not always ennobling. It can be dehumanising. Out of great pain, the beast and not the best may surface. Celebrate not pain itself, but the courage to embrace pain, without losing the capacity to feel human pain in ourselves and others. Celebrate not the specialness of pain, for we would then ask, how much did you sacrifice ? This gives the wrong message. Celebrate the courage to be human, despite of great pain.

11 NGOs including CIJ, Komas, Y4C came out with a statement that accepted the crossover of MPs, provided they explain to their constituents:

“Whilst this is not the most ideal path for a new democratic government to be formed, we are of the view that there are several historical and present mitigating circumstances that can make such a crossover not unethical, unprincipled or immoral as alleged by some government officials, mainstream press, commentators and activists. …”

    For full statement, read

Would it be interesting to organize bloggers to voice whether they endorse, not endorse, or reserve their opinions?

I think I know a man resembles a prostitute. She (He) sneers at other prostitutes and calims to be a virgin….
    His name is Kutty Mahatir.
How long can he still lie?
Better shut up and get lost.
I heard a Chinese story of a traitor “Kui Fei” who lied and caused the death of a hero “Yek Fei”. Later the king discovered that and he made a statue of “Kui Fei” kneeling in front of “Yek Fei’s” tomb so that everybody who went there could knock of the statute’s head.
His children were so ashamed of him that they all changed their sirname and dissociated from him.
Will this happen to this evil Kutty Mahatir???
