“Umno, don’t be hysterical too soon”…says the good Dr. Mohamed Rafick Khan @ Rights2Write.
We were primary school mates in Sekolah Rendah Pengkalan Tentera, Batu 9, Gambang, Kuantan, way back in the 70s. We met again in the blogsphere when Rafick discovered my blog. Now he has a blog, too, and his ‘message’ to UMNO is pretty interesting. In a nutshell, he says (and this paragraph was translated into English from his blog), referring to UMNO’s rally in Penang yesterday over the NEP:
“Malays have to think rationally. Perhaps the new government (in Penang) have better approaches than the NEP. Give them a chance lah to do it. Before anything can happen, (you all) already go and carry out an illegal street demonstration. We (wait and) see. If they (new government) do not do for us as they had promised we will throw them out in 5 years. What are we afraid of. Let us see how far is their ability (to run the government). Let’s see whether they can do what they have promised. Do not become hysterical. No one will lose…and it’s not too long also…that is people’s power…the people can elect a government and people can also bring them down“.
There was a time when we grew up not knowing the difference between skin colors. Some of us see beyond it now, many still see the shades, but most are blind underneath their own.
But things are changing. The river is flowing. And you can’t step into the same river twice.
