I’ve never been more insulted to have the”not independent” Election Commissioner Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman say this:
“Following legal advice and looking at the issue of public order and security, the EC… has decided not… to introduce the use of indelible ink“. (Malaysiakini)
This is REALLY another way of saying: if we (EC) allow the use of the indelible ink during elections, the Opposition is SURE to win and there will be dissatisfaction among members of BN , who by the way I think is the best party to govern this country, and if they get angry there will be mayhem, just like in 1969″.
Isn’t that the truth? How else can you explain “public order and security”?
Abdul Rashid says he REGRETS this decision, which means, he was ARM-TWISTED into it. And we haven’t yet begun to question what happenned to the RM2.4mil that was supposedly spent on buying the ink. People ask if it had ever been purchased? If no, where is the money now? A pure case for the ACA, who by the way, is questionable whether we can call them “independent” or not since UMNO/BN/government pays their salaries.
If I had my way, everyone should boycott the elections now. It is almost next to saying that it is pointless to vote as there would certainly be incidences of fraud, foul-play, intimidation, etc. Your votes will be manipulated especially in polling and counting centres which are short of Opposition agents. ALready the EC is warning of imminent ‘trouble’.
The EC, entrusted to ensure a free and fair elections, have come up with several shocking and last minute amendments, that would certainly undermine the Opposition’s chances of victory – examples include last minute announcement requiring new candidates to get their nomination papers stamped and requiring polling and counting agents to be signed in with full details by Wednesday (today!).
It’s crystal clear that there would be full scale foul-play and intimidation during the 12 GE, only 3 days away! If MALAYSIANS don’t wake up now, I don’t know when they will. Looks like we are doomed for another century of racist rule.
May the truth (not only free us) but save us all!
