May he be the last…memorial for those who perished in custody

This is a message from 1BLACK Malaysia:

A special memorial will be held tomorrow night at KLSCAH tomorrow night, the 14th day of Beng Hock’s death.

But this is not one for him alone, but for all others who perished in custody – police lock-up, prison, detention camp.

We do not have the figure since the inception of Malaya or Malaysia.

From 2003 to date, the number is 1,804 excluding Beng Hock.

That is 23 deaths every month, or 3 deaths every four days.

One life lost is too much. Is it not? When Beng Hock died, many of us would like him to be the last.

He did not make it. R.Gunasegaran, 31, died in custody in Sentul a few hours after Beng Hock’s death.

Can we still feel indifferent? Continue reading

“I want to die a beautiful death”

This post is dedicated to all the beautiful souls who left us recently …
yasmin

Only the good seem to die.

I am utterly shocked and sad at the passing of Yasmin Ahmad who’s captured the hearts of so many of us by her meaningful and powerful commercials, and films.

She brought us Malaysians together, irregardless of skin color, beliefs and social status and make us laugh at ourselves and love each other the way none – not even a single stupid politician – can do.

It’s true, we haven’t got enough of you and now you’re gone. So suddenly, so abruptly. How can we even begin to understand why, how come, must you?

And yet, for all of us, when the time comes, can we say ‘no’ ? You’ve done your time, you fought well. Your mission on earth is accomplished. If we miss you, we shall return to your blog…the storryteller and the filmmaker.

Must the good, the lovely, the talented leave us so soon? What about the evil, the corrupted, the heinous and the murderers?

Time has all the answers, if only we wait patiently… Continue reading

Bullshits & Rubbish

Join Ronnie Liu and Lim Kit Siang at a PC today (25 July) and hear them explain about the sudden appearance of a blog called  Truth for Teo Beng Hock.

Ronnie, in his blog COLOR BLIND calls it a blog full of bullshits and rubbish.

Will add in the updates later tomorrow.

Ronnie Liu, how will you answer this?

I do not know if Ronnie Liu has read this blog “Truth for Teoh Beng Hock“. But I suppose he should from now on. There are details of his alleged “corruption”. In one of the blog posts, it says:

“Teoh was forced into some unscrupulous dealings. He did not like what he was doing. To protect himself, Teoh made copies of false documents, fictitous public work, and dummy companies. He copied information from his notebook and the office computers into a hard disk and left it with someone. Inside are stack of information detailing the corruption by the DAP in Selangor”.

“Teoh Beng Hock shall not die in vain. The truth will be revealed”.

I hope we hear soon from either DAP, DAP Selangor or Ronnie Liu, about all the allegations in this blog.

Najib, it’s the 7th day…

candle light

Today, July 22, as Wong Chin Huat rightly reminds us, is Teo Beng Hock’s seven days after his death.  (4 things Najib can do on Teo’s 7th day)

The Chinese believe that the soul of the deceased would return to his home on this day to seek solace, after which, it’s time to move on.

We agree with Chin Huat, that we all hold Najib Razak responsible for Teo’s most undeserving death while in MACC’s custody.

We all pray for Najib’s early dismissal from his post as Malaysia’s 6th prime minister.

Chin Huat outlines four things that Najib can do for Teo and his family, if he wants to disassociate himself from this gruesome ‘political death’.

Is Najib willing to do these to save his skin or would he just go on with his life, while his wife Rosmah, amuses herself with little children, almost on a daily basis?

While I ponder over Teo’s seventh day ‘home-coming’, I remember an incident that is very personal to me that I would like to share with you.

Perhaps, you have similar experiences, too… Continue reading

My cousin in not an ‘editorial enuch’

This article written by former journalist Thomas Lee is very interesting. It is interesting to note that my cousin CHONG CHENG HAI (my mum’s favourite nephew) is NOT an “editorial enuch” like some people I know. One who never wants to promote or practice nepotism, he has never even encouraged me to apply for work in TheSUN. I am so proud of you, Cousin :)

Here’s an abstract of the article by Thomas:

First, there are the EEs — Editorial Eunuchs, who take orders from their political emperors and write and spin stories to promote the emperor’s cause. These political appointees are usually in top and senior positions, not because they are good journalists or great writers, but because of their connection to powerful political godfathers. They are first class cronies. Many are ghost writers for their political masters. Some have become millionaires.

(Note: I thank God that, except for one or two cases, the editors I had worked under are not such people. I can vouch that people like Ng Poh Tip, Michael Aeria, Wong Sulong and Wong Chun Wai are good people of principle and top class journalists, not EEs. My good friend Chong Cheng Hai, the chief editor of theSun, is another person of integrity.)

Today, Beng Hock is laid to rest…

Today is Teo Beng Hock’s funeral. This song is dedicated as a prayer for his soul. I am sure this is how his loved ones feel, and all those who know him in one way or another, and those who continue to believe in him.

May he have a safe journey. Beng Hock, you have not died in vain. We will continue to seek for answers…

More information about Teo’s funeral is in this blog: Justice for Beng Hock.

Another sudden death in police custody?!!!

suddendeath2 (image)

“No force was applied on him or on any of the other detainees. They were undergoing a standard interrogation process,” he said.

“Standard interrogation process” – this is what I am most afraid to hear from the police force !

I believe the entire police force needs to be dismantled. The first to go must be the Chief Honcho himself. We have not even got a shred of answer about Teo Beng Hock’s “sudden death”, and now here’s another:

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) July 17 – A suspected drug addict collapsed while having his finger prints recorded at the Narcotics Division of the Sentul Police District Headquarters here today, and died when being rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said said R. Gunasegaran, 31, collapsed between 6.45pm and 7pm, and was pronounced dead at 7.40pm at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

A police officer tried to administer first aid but Gunasegaran did not respond, he said. Continue reading

Can the police be trusted to investigate the MACC?

This article is written by Raj Kumar, the son of the late Tenggaroh state assemblyman S Krishnasamy, who was allegedly shot by a hitman as he was entering the lift in the state MIC building. (His murder was reported here).

Until now, Raj Kumar and his family has still not gotten the answers they deserve from the police. Can we trust the police to investigate MACC and others involved in Teo Beng Hock’s case?

You know the answer. Thank you, Raj, for this article that I just wanted to share with my readers. A kind of solidarity message for Teo and his family.

police-state26

hi,
Like many of you, i read the news of Mr.Teoh with so much anger and frustration. He should not have died that way. He was just at the brink of a new life. He had someone waiting for him, he had his parents thinking about him, he had friends who shared common thoughts with him. He was not a street criminal, he was not a person with countless criminal records. He was serving the public thru his employment with YB Ean. Yet, why did he end up dead like this? Continue reading
