What about an Altantuya Memorial Day?

altan-najib

Sorry, guys. No time to comment. Busier than a bee. So here’s something for you to think about (total cut and paste, apologies to Malaysiakini). Don’t know what Altantuya would think, though. Her birthday falls on May 6th. So, what about an Altantuya Memorial day? It would be a day also to think/remember/renew our questions/quest for justice for those who died mysteriously and those who went missing and NEVER found.

‘Sue or we stage mock funeral for Altantuya’

A PKR leader has challenged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to sue all the international media groups that linked him to the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu or face a mammoth nationwide mock funeral procession for the slain Mongolian national.

after permatang talk badrul hishamIn issuing the ultimatum at a public forum in Penang last night, PKR supreme council member Badrul Hisham set nomination day for the Penanti by-election (May 23) as the dateline for Najib to file his suits against the media groups across the globe.

“If he has nothing to do with the murder, Najib should immediately sue those international newspapers, some 19 of them, that linked him to the gruesome killing,” he said. Continue reading

CPM member starts own blog to tell their side of history

cover

Today, April 30, is Hari Parti Komunis Malaya.

It’s timely too that a member of the Communist Party of Malaya has a blog.  In it, is a blog post on the CPM’s comic book depicting the story of their 50 years struggle from 1930-80.

I guess you won’t read this in the papers.  So, I am telling it here.

20 years ago, the Haadyai agreement between the Communist Party of Malaya and the government to abandon arms struggle was inked, with much pomp and fair.

However, the existence of these soldiers who fought for Merdeka/Independence of Malaya continue to be ignored, news about them,totally black-out from the media until today.

These soldiers do not need a hero’s welcome or treatment, nor do they need money or medals. But as human beings, they do feel a need to be apart of Malaysia, which they fought for as well.

To share their side of history, they’ve started a blog. Yes, they are IT savvy, too. And this blog is important so that the generation to come will not be deprived of knowing that their freedom and independence come with a heavy price. Continue reading

Penang St Nicholas home wants TV sets

tv I received this in the mail today. Those of you who are in Penang might want to help out.

YES! We’re talking about the television set(s) that you have at home. If you wish to discard or give away your tv set, St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang dormitory is more than happy to be on the receiving end. All they are asking for are two (2) TV sets that are still in working condition. [Good hearing condition].

What does ‘working condition’ mean? = still sound emitting, but not necessarily with clear vision, as they just need some mode of contact with the outside world, whereby they can listen to daily news, entertainment and songs, anything… to accompany them through day and night, ups and downs…

Wouldn’t it be nice if you can be the one to bring in music to their ears and sounds to their hearing? Continue reading

ISA: haram or halal?

isa-2

(image)

This might be an interesting debate.

The Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA (GMI) will be organizing “Debat ISA : Haram atau Halal?” in the light of the recent claims made by a group called PEWARIS, who claims that ISA is in line with Islam and it is needed in order to protect the religion of Islam.

PEWARIS has been invited to send their representative to refute the anti ISA stand taken by GMI.

To date,GMI has not received any reply from PEWARIS on whether they will attend the event to defend their views in support of the draconian law, the ISA.

GMI says that “In the spirit of freedom of speech and expression, the positive reply from PEWARIS to debate on the above mentioned issue is very much anticipated”.

The details of the event is as follows: Continue reading

More losers join UMNO supreme council

hi-loser

(image)

UMNO nih takde orang lain. Asyik muka yang sama je…more losers. But it’s okay lah, I’m happy. Faster, faster…UMNO will go.

Today PM Naif Ton Rasa has appointed or re-appointed several losers into UMNO supreme council. They are:

1. ‘AP Queen’ aka Rafizah Aziz. She was criticised a few years ago over the AP issue where several permit holders were believed to have sold their permits to foreign car companies (malaysiatoday). She also lost to new UMNO wanita chief Sharizat Abd. Jalil.

2. Ali Rustam aka ‘Why is he still the Melaka CM?’ – He was accused of condoning ‘money politics’ whereby he allowed his agent to distribute money to Umno delegates to vote for him in the upcoming Umno general assembly. (malaysiakini)

3. Tengku Adnan – infamous for the phrase ‘Women bloggers are liars’. He caused an uproar in Malaysian cyber space and received a lot of negative comments (read this). Continue reading

Jed Yoong leaves cyberspace..

Got this in the email from Jed Yoong:

Susan, If you would carry this. . I’ve deleted all my blogs (jedyoong.com/jedyoong.wordpress.com/jedyoong.blogspot.com). I don’t plan to blog in the forseeable future and will concentrating on my law degree. Although recent events like in Perak and the Altantuya trial have made me lose faith in our judiciary, I still believe in the English legal system if it functions properly. Hope you can put a small note so there won’t be a panic in blogosphere. Not that there will be but just to let ppl know that I’ve not been ISAed/etc…

It’s quite shocking to me too. Jed blogs with some kind of zest despite all the criticisms hurled at her. Will you miss her? I think I might…

Goodbye, Jed. Stay safe.

Rais dines with PRO-NAJIB bloggers

I did not say it. Malaysiakini did. They were not invited as well.

Among the bloggers who attended were A Kadir Jasin, Ahiruddin ‘Rockybru’ Atan, Ruhanie Ahmad, Ibrahim Yahya, Nuraina Samad and Syed Akbar Ali – all of whom are considered to be pro-establishment.

There was a conspicuous absence of bloggers who were critical towards the Barisan Nasional government.

Well, I don’t think some bloggers who are not PRO-NAJIB wants to dine with a dinner paid by his government.

During the dinner, Rais (left) stated: “One of my friends told me that there were no less than 5,000 serious bloggers in the country voicing out their opinions on various issues.”

Why kind of minister is he? That he does not have the figures himself? He’s friend has to tell him…

“Some of them have even stopped writing for the mainstream media to concentrate on full-time blogging. Among these bloggers are our own children, undergraduate students and lecturers, who form the most critical members of our society,” he added.

He appealed to his guests to give credit to the government when credit was due, especially when the government implemented good policies.

Rais Yatim’s ‘Get friendly with bloggers’ is an eye wash. It’s NOT our job to give credit to the government when it is due. If we do not feel like it, it is our business. We are not under anyone’s payroll to do so. Why doesn’t Rais get it? Why doesn’t anyone in the government get it? And this goes for the opposition who are in government now – Penang and Selangor, for example.

Bloggers write their views and many are having full time jobs. We can’t write on every single thing. Only stuff that makes us move, in other words, make our blood boil.

After years of paying off journalists (like you know who) and the media, people like Rais think they can ‘govern’ bloggers as well. Continue reading

RPK speaks for himself…goes into self exile

mugshot-petra

Is this the end for all those who speak out and up in order for others to arrive at some truth? A very high price to pay, I must say.

The end is always the same, to silent people: it’s either ISA, sedition, or more conveniently now, treason.

Is exile the only way out – self imposed or otherwise? I guess only RPK knows what is best for himself. I pray the Truth keeps him save.

APRIL 23 — After two ISA detentions, I do not plan to allow them to get me so easily the third time around. I also refuse to face treason charges that will result in me being sent to the gallows. I love my life and wish to remain alive a few years longer if possible. I wish to explain why I am not going to be present in court today, 23rd April 2009. Continue reading

The first to vacate Najib’s cabinet should be …

Hah! There are certainly more than 2 jokers who should not be in Najib’s cabinet. (What is Mahathir babbling about?)

The most laughable thing is that Mahathir has become a FLIP FLOP just like  the one he criticised so badly (Pak Lah). Earlier Mahathir said the cabinet was “positive” and now?

The first and formost one who should be booted out of the cabinet is the prime minister himself!

His baggage weighs a million tons (no wonder Bernama calls him Naif  TON Rasa), as there are too many questions surrounding his premiership.

Forget Altantuya, forget the murder. Forget Baginda, Sirul or Azilah. Forget even Dottie.

As far as many are concerned, Najib is merely UMNO’s PM (some faction only at that), not Malaysians. Who among you want Najib to be your PM? Not me, not any of the people I know, certainly. Continue reading

Anwar or Guan Eng MUST be criticised!

I hope Pakatan Rakyat lose the PENANTI by-election. I don’t mind having Mahathir Mohammad and Naif Ton Rasa win it. Serious.

Because, PR can get really arrogant if they continue to win and win all the by elections. It would make them complacent. It would make them think too highly of themselves. Too arrogant.

Worst still, it makes them think their leaders are GOD!

Why can’t Anwar Ibrahim or PKR be criticised in the media? Anwar is not God, the same way Naif Ton Rasa is not God. (Read: GE gagged on Fairus issue)

Even God gets criticised and abused all the time.

Is the likes of Syed Husin Ali trying to gain favour with PKR people? With Anwar around, he cant be THAT relevant anymore.

Are they (PKR) trying to divert attention from something more sinister happening within Pakatan Rakyat or PKR itself? It seems a more likely answer. Knowing politicians.

Or are these politicians simply clamouring for media glamor?

[Glamour is like viagra to a politician, I am sorry to say]. Continue reading
