Oh ya, Khairy Jamaluddin, the son in law, won by about 52 votes over Khir Toyol, with Mukriz Mahathir lagging behind.
Mahathir will of course say its money politics, and so would all his band of bloggers.
If Mukriz wins, KJ would say the same too.
Now we await tomorrow to see if there’s gonna be more Pak Lah’s people winning the game.
Perhaps Altantuya’s ghost is making the rounds after all?

But now Khairy won the UMNO Youth, which traditionally will be given a post in the cabinet.

On the contrary, you might be wrong on this. KJ is the most moderate amongst the 3. He recently called the barring on 6 online media by UMNO a strategic error – even Sharizat calls on the government to act on online criminals (refers to detractorsof course, if you not with me you are against me) of UMNO. He displayed silenced approval (of course) when Mukhriz and Khir Toyo slammed on the AAB’s weakness for being too lenient on the two big march – the Bersih rally (2007)and the Hindraf(2007) that were the caustic upheaval against BN reflected on the 03/08 election.

The DPM should counter sue all those who has made the allegation of the murder of the Mongolian mode linked to him and sue them for USD 27 trillion. No show by Mahathir Mohamad
Dr Mahathir Mohamad has not show up for the opening of the Umno general assembly despite saying earlier he would, The Star Online reported. His aide Sufi Yusoff was quoted as saying that he has decided to skip the function. Mahathir’s snub has probably got to do with the defeat of his son, Mukhriz, last night.
Despite being regarded as a front runner, Mukhriz finished third in the Umno Youth contest. He lost to Khairy Jamaluddin and Khir Toyo. Some Mukhriz’s supporters took the defeat badly, staging a noisy protest at the PWTC but Mukhriz said he accepted the defeat, saying in all contests, there would be winners and defeats.

The contest for Presidency of the UMNO Youth Wing was intense with some suporters loosing their cool and calm much to the chagrin of the TA.
I did not expect KJ to win the contest. At first I surmised Mukriz might have a slight edge over KJ for being more mellow and mature; less vocal and bigotted. Of course I never gave Khir Toyo a chance. He is just a wash out in the face of MM’s stern warning against corrupt politicians snaking their ways to the supreme council through money politics.
But, between Mukriz and KL, the delegates chose KJ not I believe without a reason – to keep check for ABB on the NR adminisstration and to serve as the ear and eye for his FIL in what leaders often ascribe the strategy of ‘check and balance’.
The fact is KJ is in and Mukriz is out. With the rejoining of MM as a member of UMNO, KJ would be considered more of an irritant if he ever were appointed as a minister. Between MM and KJ, I am sure NR will prefer not to incur the displeasure of MM.
I am sure KJ saw all these before him. Hence, he announced that he was not aiming for a ministerial position.
KJ has wings which his FIL found hard to control. Perhaps, a ministerial position in the PM’s Department under the direct supervision of PM might be a way out.
In a week or two, we shall see the cabinet line up. Let usbe patient
