Altantuya: What happen to the DNA test?

Blogger Howsy asked this question (all the way from UK) today: Altantuya son’s DNA test: is it out yet?

“Susan, any pointers?”

Malaysia mudah lupa (forgets easily), said Howsy. Well, my dear friend, Malaysia mudah tipu (lies easily) also.

Here’s your answer, confirmation of which I received last night:

On March 12, Bernama reported that DNA experts will be in Mongolia to take blood samples from Altantuya Shariibuu’s youngest son, Altanshagai, 3. The paper who quoted Mongolian consul in Malaysia Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Habshi said the report will be out on Saturday, March 17. Yet, until now, there is no news about the matter

He also said:

Our special team comprising Federal CID deputy director (II) Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan, Kuala Lumpur deputy serious crimes chief DSP Gan Tack Guan and a forensic specialist Dr Azreen from Kuala Lumpur, will witness the test to ensure the test is conducted fairly.

“NHUB officials told me that it would take about two or three days to conduct a thorough DNA test. I have learnt the final result of the test is very vital for the prosecution on the June trial, to determine the real father of Altanshagai”.

According to sources close to her father, Mr. Shariibuu, said the “experts” arrived at his home, without documents. They were actually from Interpol, and Mr. Shariibuu complied with their requests because they were representatives of “the King of Malaysia’. They said their work was “secret”, so they did not show him any documentation. Earlier, Mr. Shariibuu was not even informed about their visit.

“Even Dr Shaariibuu Setev (Altantuya’s father) called me yesterday and promised me that he will give his full cooperation to our special team in order to expedite the DNA test,” Abdul Rahman said.

And while they (DNA experts, Interpol, whatever) saw her son, they did not take blood samples from him. Instead, they took it from her mother, Mrs. Shariibuu. Now why did they do that? I believe they have tested her DNA back then when the case first burst onto the scene. What do they want to prove? Any ordinary person will think: that it is probably to prove whether the remains belong to Altantuya. But I thought they have done it before? Or, do they want to double-check? Because, if it is really isn’t Altantuya’s, then really there is no basis for the case. But where then is Altantuya?

The reason for wanting Altantuya son’s DNA was to see if her alleged murderer, who is now in police custody – Abdul Razak Baginda – was indeed father to her son. But Mr. Shariibuu had pointed out: the little boy was born in 2003, whereas Altantuya met Baginda in 2004. So, it is impossible for the boy to be fathered by Baginda. So, who’s the father?

I have no idea how knowing the father of the boy could be relevant to the case. Knowing where the alleged murderers obtained the c4 explosives used to kill her and who authorised it may be helpful.

Meanwhile, the Mongolian Foreign Ministry responsive towards the matter seem to be cold as well. Ministry officials refused to meet with Civil Society organisations who are currently helping out Mr. Shariibuu in the case. The NGOs are now planning to take the matter up to the Prime Minister.

So, do you still think we will hear any news about the DNA test from the papers?

Who actually lied? Either Bernama has been had or the Consul had lied, or whoever who leaked the information out to the Consul, who then eagerly leaked the information to Bernama, lied. Either way, the information was wrong, because no DNA test was done on the young boy, who is sick and awaiting treatment for his failing health.

  1. As much as I despised them for what’s going on….let’s not be too impatient. Case will be on soon. That’s what matters….and let the whole world see if we can have a clean clear cut case or twist and turn like Anwar’s. I think the case have alot of implications towards the creditablilties of the government in next election…so they should be dead serious to get real justice done. That’s why I think Pak Lah brought the case up to this year…and only few months more….so lets wait.

  2. i cant help but think there will be twist, and the truth will never be told…. i think…

  3. I agree with zewt’s views, this will be the cover-up of the year. Dna tests are useful only if there are dna samples of suspects to compare them to. Is the net for possible suspects cast wide enough in the first place? I have the feeling this is just an academic exercise. The truth is out there but will never see the light of day, siigh……

  4. Al’Gore has his tenuous book, “The Inconvenient Truth” but it appears in an open society and got shot, not one where Truth appears to have become a function of clout and position.

  5. Now, will The Star (the number one kaypoh for this case) quote you? ;)

  6. As Latuk Wong dares, howsy?

  7. As IF he dares., ah? already as it is, the need to swallow back much of what might be said is something habit forming.

  8. Sad, but I have my doubts that the real pepertrators in this case would be prosecuted. Its hard to believe that justice will be served.

If something like this happend in a more cvil society, Ithink there will be some resignations and rolling heads. Life is a little cheaper here…

  9. Meng Yee, almost everyone have that reservation and are trying their best not to be prejudicial… innocent until proven guilty kinda thing. At the same time, its hard to get rid of the notion that we have the best justice system the money can buy. At this time. its not a question who is corrupt anymore… look at the cabinet line-up and ask yourself which one is clean… if u can name even one, you are wrong!

Life is a little cheaper here… agreed but that is for you, me. Some malaysians are invincible. My parent should name me Rafidah Aziz.

  10. Hasn’t Mr. Shariibuu’s DNA been tested when he was in Msia? I thought the victim’s identity has been confirmed.

Why the mother’s DNA now? Trying to question the mother-daughter-father relationship? What has that got to do with the prosecution case? At worst, this is defense case. May I know who is the defense team again?

Now, all gone quiet. No good. No good. So much about rule of law.

  11. “Life is a little cheaper here…”

The wages of official racism, fascism and elitism in a non-egalitarian society. A GIGO situation, evermore. Top it all up with plenty of lies icing.

  12. jeancumlately is getting more and more aggressive and certanily talk like Rafidah Aziz…no mincing words…straight to the point!!
Her parents need to be mad to name her Rafidah Aziz. One is too many!! But …only she can do it herself….by marrying a handsome tall rich muslim guy and INSIST to be converted with that name or else no marriage.
That’s why she did not marry that guy…he did not agree…hahahaha

  13. Only two questions need be asked in this case.
Is a Mongolian life worth more than a Malay life?
Will three Malays lose their lives in place of one Mongolian?

(reference: Johor MB, Ghani Othman recently confirmed to the whole world that the Malays are a superior race.)

The murder trial hasn’t started yet but I have the verdict? Do you?

  14. “Will three Malays lose their lives in place of one Mongolian?”

Will three “hi-born” Malays need lose anything because of one Mongolian live?

In a Neanderthal state all sense of normal shame is naturally unheard of. Hubris uber alles.

  15. Sometimes, what’s being done in far, far away Mongolia is a ruse to hide the other DNA candidate closer to home.

  16. Libra,
Can’t understand what u r getting at… Altantuya died not because she was a mongolian and the killer killed not because they are malays. What’s race has got to do with it?

Btw monty, the AP Queen would wish to look like me (hahaha…) but with all that AP’s who cares how she looks… I bet that with 10 AP’s in her hand, you would tell her that she looks better than J Lo. Imagine what men would tell her knowing she could issue 20,000… may be something like, you look so good with nothing but the AP on…

  17. Can some journalist ask the ever eager consul why the experts went there to take the mother’s DNA and not the son’s as reported? This may well be the answer to the verdict we all say we know about :=)

  18. hi jeancumlately….men should not speak F word…you said….but you can be quite dirty minded. I like that! Makes you more exciting…..but then…..you maybe a man eh?
AP queen can have all the APs she wants. Govt. will change and a prison cell is waiting for her.
Her sex life is over…not even all the tea in China can make a man stoop so low to want her for ill gotten riches…unless she goes to Jamiaca…..where limbo rock was invented.
hi jeancumlately….life is short..so prefer you lah than all the AP’s….cannot bring one to hell….waiting for all of us.

  19. Incidentally, the AP queen probably grew up in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar – the small hill by the riverside that leads to the Sultan’s palace. From my experience in KK, I tend to get the impresson that the inhabitants there tend to be the cocky and snobbish sort too. She’s undefeatable there since.

  20. .

Are you really naive enough to believe that this DNA test is to establish the relationship between the deceased and the accused?

This test was used only as a distraction from the “main truth of the matter” – brazen murderers with authority’s backing?

    .

  21. jeancumlately,
    Was I that vague?
It simple means our system will not send any of the three accused in this murder trial to the gallows.
Race has always been an issue in this country. No matter how trivial the issue , race is a factor.
    Still don’t understand?

  22. Libra…You are right that in Malaysia..race is the main issue…but please don’t not mix your logic with the killing of the mongolian lady matter with our Malaysian problem. jeancumlately has asked you and your reply is showing you are a confused person….so I hope to straighten you out.
In Malaysia….we are talking about those races living here as citizens….like malays ..indians..chinese. We have no mogolians as Malaysian citizen. She is a VISIOTOR…a TOURIST..she can be killed by any hired killers.Any race can be hired killers.
    Are you clear now? thanks.

  23. Explosive result. Altantuya’s son’s DNA matches xxxxxxxxxxxx.
It amounts to a magnitude 8 Earthquake.

They don’t know how to spin this, so they are figuring out how to bury the results….
    Rumours……just rumours……

  24. Thnx monty…

I don’t mean to prolong the matter. Its just that it gets into my nerve when race and religion has to be dragged into everything. Have you heard about a dato’ who got away with murder of that boy? He was a chinese. Dear libra, the point I am getting at is, its not about race. Its about m.o.n.e.y. and p.o.w.e.r. Just like Mone Fendy, I am a malay and I don’t think I can get away with muder. Monty can, eventhough he is a chinese.

    Thanks

  25. Aside: wrt the Mona Fandy’s case, it was good that justice was done. Yet there remains doubt and unease as to whether she could have been as readily investigated and arrested were it not for the fact that she did a big time killing of a very greedy politician(named Zakaria?). She had killed many nameless people including an entire family before, had she not?

  26. Kittykat, the DNA result topic may likely to be used on April Fool’s day. Then the BDS(Blog Derangement Syndrome)group may twist it somehow into ammunition for their cause (of psychological Displacement).

  27. Wits0 you are correct. Mona may get away if she killed me instead of the politician. It underlined the fact that it has to do with politics/power and not race. Its no fun being a poor malay, you know. Or a poor chinese or a poor indian for that matter. Pity the poor malaysian…

  28. Susan, I don’t think the authorities are interested at all whether Razak B. is the father of the little boy. As always they will use the mom’s DNA and spin some yarn in court. As for the verdict, its quite obvious.

  29. jeancumlately….You are cheeky!! I got so many bullets fired at me..trully by those wanting me dead [literally speaking though]…did you not read at kickdefella’s side? And what kept me alive was dreaming at the hospital being nursed by you…day and night…anything goes…so lovingly…hahahahaha
So we can conculde…they want to kill a Chinese….but a Malay sexy woman will not allow it…the WONDER WOMAN of Malaysia….HAHAHAHAHA

  30. But you MAYBE right also…that I can get away with murder..if I have the millions….to change my face..modern stlye like the movie ‘Face Off”..name and Mycard. In Malaysia…MONEY MATTERS!!
Poor Malayasian like jeanmcumlately…even though a bumiputraress[is there such a word?}….go to hell with that tiltle….hahahahaha

  31. a paternitiy test involving two or three samples could be carried out by our Kimia people in three days, tops. they also prioritise cases accordingly, so that tests related to high profile cases are done sooner than less important ones.

but word is, the batch of DNA samples for the paternity test of Atanshagai were not analysed, at all.

“my friend, let me tell you this. they did not do any test,” said a three-legged friend who is also considering to give up working for the story, regardless of how juicy its going to be.

“whats the point, man? when i was working for (xyz), they want three sources to confirm anything. but now, (the authorities concerned in Altantuya case) won’t say anything, how?” he asked. he also indicated by a finger gesture that he understand the subjudice bogey and knocked back the rest of his beer (colour added to lessen the intesity of the situation, and also an half-hearted attempt to justify the spanish saying — in vino veritas).

so imho, why waste money to send three investigators to Mongolia to collect the sample from the three year old, if it was not going to be used at all?
