Band of Bloggers – to support or not?

Band of Bloggers – to support or not?

Since the Band of Bloggers burst into the scene, we’ve been asked if Bloggers United supports them. Our stand is very clear.

1. We support all efforts to support freedom of expression and free speech, and those who come together to support Rocky and Jeff Ooi;

2. We recognise the diversity of blogs out there with a multitude of opinions on a variety of issues – some are political, some are not. However, inspite of each blog’s agenda, we are happy if bloggers come together to defend theirs (and others) freedom in blogsphere;

3. We do NOT represent anyone, you are free to make your own choice, whether to support this or that blog, whether to take this stand or that stand, whether you are UMNO, MCA,MIC, PAS, DAP or Keadilan, any party in Sabah or Sarawak, or whether you are partyless, whatever skin color or creed you are, Malaysian or not Malaysian, or somewhere in between;

4. We may not agree to everything you say, but we will defend your right to say it. However, if what you say is detrimental to our cause, we will defend ourselves with debates. We are not being emotional or personal, but if you choose to cross the line, we are at the front line;

5. We will NOT impose our ideas on others, we call for support, but we will not force you to support us if you do not want to. The space is free, and so is your choice. Do not let anyone compel you to do otherwise;

6. Most of all, we promote responsible blogging and will take responsibility for all our actions. If we are wrong, we will apologise, if we are wrong, please feel free to refute, comment or advice us. None of us is above the other; and none of us is above the law.

Sheih of kickdefella and Susan Loone.

  2. Saron….Fully and totally support!! But may I add…..like a big family, there will be a black sheep…..hopefully not. What type of black sheep….what are the reasons to call that blogger a black sheep…cannot be detemine by just imaginations nor hear say.
    Will bloogers be prepared to collectively disassociate with such a black sheep or still defend him/her…like a hypocrtical political party.
    So bloggers should have rule number 7[my favourite number] on this matter. BEST REGARDS.

  3. Dear Susan,

    Clear and unequivocal to me

  4. all of us should just stick with the reason why we first started blogging….

  5. What an arse I am…..calling you Saron here and Sera at Kickdefella site!
    What am I thinking? Sorry Susan. I repeat Susan Loone…please ccept my sincere apology.

  6. hi monsterball, i forgive you, maybe you are thinking of “sharon stone’ when you call me saron hah…? hehehe :-)

    and then i dont think we need number 7-lah….we will let history judge the black sheep…we are not the courts mah, and neither are we so grand we need to judge others…we must remain focus on our No. 1 enemy – the institution and the almighty powers that will do anything to take our freedom away…focus is key to victory, my dear friend

    zewt, i think that’s what we are all really doing…sticking to the reason why we blog—to express our opinions right? i believe we are all still on the right track….

  7. Susan….Excellent explainations and thanks for forgiving me. As much as I admire some Sharon Stones movies……..nope I was not thinking of her.

  8. I may not be a blogger these days but I certainly support Bloggers United in their fine efforts to seek Justice for the Rakyat.
    I told Rocky and Jeff that we want our great nation,greater and we are not against any Government, Party or Person BUT only against issues that are wrong on principle to the Rakyat (Joe Public). We are no longer a developing nation but heading towards developed nation status by 2020 and in the process be very right on principles.
    I have left the writing to the professionals in the field and it is for you to bring out the real issues and stories that have to be told.
    As a reader of your articles I will comment so that your fine efforts in our mission is not in vain.
    These are hard facts and we have to make hard choices in the interest of the Rakyat and the country.

  9. ‘may the truth saves us all’ This is interesting….as the truth of the matter…truth do kill some. From religious leaders to political figures…some are killed simply because they are truthful.
    Translating to bloggers objectives…’may the truths saves all bloggers……but have NO FEAR what come may’
    Just my thoughts.

  10. monsterball, i did think of that “may the truth save all bloggers” but someone who is not a blogger said ‘what about us not bloggers, we wanna be a part of the struggle too”…and so it goes, may the truth save us all…imho, its better to be inclusive than exclusive…but be aware of dark forces….betul tak?

    rajahram, thanks a lot, comments give me inspiration, even very critical ones, and the fire to go on :-)

  11. Kami sokong…sokong apa ? sokong laa..sokong Bloggers United. Gambar lelaki yang pakai baju batik itu muka nya nampak macam PAT LAH…mungkin waktu zaman muda agak nya…sedang yamseng…masa Gong zee fa chai…..

  12. To be against the insidious Dark Force that perverts truth is not an option, bloggers or otherwise. It’s a measure of one’s own Conscience and Spiritual evolution. The alternative means growing grey in vain. …destined for a bad Purgatory.

  13. Thanks for all the comments here…I hope I’ve never made anyone feel I am speaking too loud and imposing my views on others. We’re all in this together, just that some of us take initiatives first, and invite others to come along. Hope this is not seen as imposing. For this is not my style at all. I hold strong to what I value and believe in, and am always passionate in my response. If this is seen as emotional, so be it, We cant fight a war without being passionate about what we believe in. And we cant fight a war, if we do not stand up against those who want to bring us down. All for Rocky and Jeff and freedom of speech :-) . To all bloggers, happy blogging, to all commentators, happy sharing:-)

  14. not really susan…. i see some very good blogs where the owners turn them into money making machine…. they have like 5 entries a day and it’s all about advertisements…. the blogs lost their identity.

    this PPP phenomenon is really sweeping the blogosphere like tsunami and i have to admit… i am quite tempted to be swept away….

  15. zewt, i’ll throw a net and catch you, if you are being swept away…:-)

  16. Sue: If I said I spread some “rumours” about thee at the NPC lust Fridae nite, will you ban me from my free speech hear!
    Your pardner kickdafella sang thy praises claiming warrior-soulmatreyship with you, I got a-mite jeles but did not treact as I didn’t want to be kicked outa Press Club, now domiciled by more Bloggers than (hard)press-ed people!
    I better whisper G’Nite (not withiun Sheikh’s hereing!:(

  20. my blog is still at its infant stage… PPP wont want me… when my blog hit 90 days… that’s when the real temptation will come…. will need the net.
