Who’s behind “Walk With Us”?
Its disheartening to note that certain quarters are trying to throw mud onto the face of the Bloggers United movement. For now, it is rather unnecessary to mention just who these people are. But its expected, in every concerted effort against superpowers, there would be some who will break us in the process, and more who will continue to be strong and supportive.
It all started with the latest postings on unknown author blog Walk With Us (WWW)- the blog started right after the papers were served on Rocky and Jeff. Since then, it has garnered a huge following due to several revealing and controversial articles on Kallimulah and NST.
The latest postings have invoked the ire of some bloggers who are now raving and ranting about how irresponsible bloggers are. One I know have pulled down the Bloggers United logo from his website, saying he does not want to be represented by a stranger, another is threatening to do so.
According to these bloggers, the posting is irresponsible and sub-judice.
We respect your right of opinion about the posting, and to select who’s going to be on your blogroll but to make Bloggers United a victim of irresponsible blogging is unfair. We are not strangers, hundreds of us who support Bloggers United have our real identities out (just take a peek at my blogroll). If you equate us with WWW, it is just like what the PM and NST did, take action on Rocky and Jeff for their postings, and in the process, drag all bloggers in, and label us irresponsible.
Its disheartening when people start equating WWW with Bloggers United. We are not behind WWW, we want to make this clear. We support all efforts to support free speech, Rocky and Jeff, but we cannot be responsible for postings which are problematic to some.
What is more disheartening is that the person who wrote the posting did actually ask me if I were behind WWW and I had firmly said “No”. I do not know who is behind it, I can only guess, but I may be wrong. I know some of my more activists minded blogger friends are not behind it too (because I ask them). But sadly, this side of my story was not reflected in the said posting.
I’d like to reiterate that I am not against the posting which questioned WWW’s credibility, but when references are made to Bloggers United, no matter how tiny, I feel there is a need for us to respond.
Bloggers United has not contributed any articles to WWW, though many of us have their link in our blogroll. But that doesn’t mean we endorse and thorougly support blindly all they say and do. And this goes for hundred of blogs out there as well.
There are hundreds of blogs now under the Bloggers United movement – both in Malaysia and overseas. There are diverse opinions and postings too. Not all we agree to. But we will defend your right to say it, nevertheless.
Many are still anonymous, like WWW. We respect your right to remain so because the message is really more important than the messenger. And the truth is, many appreciate the efforts of WWW to offer us – hungry for information bloggers – an alternative source of information, though the information may always be disputable. But that is how democracy thrives. Yes, what WWW is doing is cyber guerilla warfare – very much needed, some would say – in a repressive state like ours.
What we like to say is this: you may join them or condemn them, the choice is entirely yours.
But the Bloggers United movement is NOT WWW, and vice versa. It is important to note that even the WWW does not carry the Bloggers United logo, courtesy of kickdefella.
Ps: Always check with Sheih and I, if you are doubtful of any action in the name of Bloggers United. We are responsible and we do not want to abuse your support and trust in this wonderful movement.

Hi Susan,
A quick question… what about ‘band of bloggers’?
zewt - February 28, 2007 at 1:31 am
Hi Susan..I have been reading your postings at kickdefella site….my home base as a commenter. I just posted on behalf of Sheih and kickdefella commenters, a message at Black’s site to the Egypt bloggers.
On 6th March…many will go support Jeff’s court case.including me. Thereafter on 2nd April…I will not miss Rocky’s court case for all the tea in China….as I was absent on his first hearing recently. kickdefella will provide all food and drinks fre to all attending…plus a 2 mnoth old birthday cake of “United Bloggers” in Malaysia. It will be another ‘who cares” attitudes to the plaintiffs . Due to my happy go lucky nature with great positive attitudes…everyone will have to bear my rowdy character like before……hahahaha
Forgive me if I have misbehave myself with my teasing nature to you. I meant no harm nor disrespect at all..
But on serious notes like this….I sincerely admire your vigourous nature for freedom of speeches and rights and Sheih’s Malaysia for Malaysians concept is exactly what an old man like me hopefully can see become a reality before I die. I am not to optimitic about the speed of things coming true……but neither pessimistic it will not become a reality. IT WILL BE ONE NATION FOR ONE PEOPLE SOONER OR LATER!! Thanks

hi susan,
an anonymous blogger attacking WWW for being irresponsible for WWW’s latest posting?
Irresponsible for that posting? I think not. Subjudice? Oh whtever,so go sue WWW. It’s open season to sue bloggers, anyway. But wait…. can’t sue WWW. It is without a name.
If you don’t like what WWW is posting, don’t open the site.
WWW feels that the people behind the lawsuit against JO and R, have no business doing so. He tells us why.
You may or may not agree, believe or even like what WWW tells you. But, WWW wants to tell you, anyway. How do you know what WWW tells you are lies? Some of the things WWWe tells you certainly are defamatory, if they are not true.
There are hundreds of bloggers, mostly anonymous, out there whose postings I don’t agree with, I don’t like. But what do they care?
WWW, keep on blogging!

hi susan,
thanks for clearing that up. many people asked me if i was behind Walk With Us. i told them, I wish!
but i’m not in the habit of claiming credit from others’ blood, sweat and tears. i don’t agree with some of the things the guy/s at WWU do but it’s their right to do them. and like black maria pointed out, WWU is anonymous. who do you blame or praise if you are riled or if you are pleased by what they post?
when a blog loses me, i’d stop visiting it. as it is, as you can see, WWU is still on my blogroll, even though it does not carry the logo. and as you’d see, the blog of the “complainant” is also on my blogroll.
of course, Bloggers United is right up there! Bless you and Sheih for that, and the hundreds of bloggers who carry the logo, and the countless and nameless who are supporting us.

1. Hi, Anon…the link is extremely useful. i will link it up on the bloggers united official page soon. thanks.
2. politikus, this happens to be a serious matter, and at this point of time, i do not appreciate your lol.
3. hey monsterball, i never felt you have misbehaved. i am quite tolerant. but i must say i dont tolerate being cheated—the gist of this posting is that though i have given my word that I am not behind WWW, the blogger chose to equate WWW with Bloggers United. that’s cheating isnt it? Thanks for your support anyway. really appreciate it.
4. black maria – you are so right. just that indecency needs to be exposed and i am glad i have done this posting. i like to make myself clear. and the bloggers united movement is precious to me, and to many others too, i am sure. and as far as i am able, i will not let attention-seeking bloggers to get in the way.
5. zewt, what about band of bloggers? anyone want to join them, it;s their call. we are not a regulating body. personally, i welcome all effort from those who are really interested of keeping the internet and bloggers free. what about you?
6. my dear rocky, you have spoken at last. as we are saying this, some blogs have really lost me! not yet the WWW, as I feel they are playing such an important role as well, in keeping the spirit of JO and R alive. we live in such a choking environment, WWW is a breath of fresh air. though i will always take their commentaries with a pinch of salt. I have a brain, don’t i?

hi zewt, i guess if you are an infant, then you may take your time and observe the “movement” before you give your full support. you know, you can decide later whether its worthwhile to support or not. dont jump into it if you are not sure, ok?
